Laura Mallory to appeal yet again
Laura Mallory, the mother who has been crusading since August 2005 to remove the Potter books from the County's school libraries, is set to appeal to the County's Superior Court the decision Georgia state made in December to keep the books on shelves.
Mallory said, "We will take a stand for truth, and pray God will touch the hearts of this generation." For the past year and a half, she has vehemently preached that the books indoctrinate children in witchcraft. She hasn't, however, actually read the books.
Mallory says she is poised to take legal action and has apparently received "significant donations" from "supporters" in aid of this.
Emerson's Comment: Ever seen a fly crash itself repeatedly into a transparent pane of glass, never quite getting the hint? Yeah.

Emerson: HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! you hit the nail on the head there mate. Seriously tho, this is getting rediculous. Umbri- I mean, Malfoy- AHEM! Malory...JUST GIVE IT UP!
This woman is just crazy and jelous cuz she isn't as good as J.K.R. ahe is a wack_a_do so sad u_u
trueheirOfRavenclaw: Was that directed to moi, or the everyone here?
stupid moron woman. i hate to be the type of person that judges other people, but she is absolutely taking this WAY TO FAR! It's gotten annoying yet extremely amusing to read about her rants about a book she hasn't even read....
ya i can see how she'd think they are bad cuz of witchcraft BUT i also think that its ok to read about it seeing as it is fiction so long as u dont take it to heart and follow like a religion.
i think the whole reason of having a library is so that ANYONE can check out a book that they have an interest in reading. if you take that book out, your OBVIOUSLY going to make others angry. i think she has made her point in saying that the Harry Potter books promote witchcraft, but she really should just leave it at that. she's just wasting her time now. plus she should read the book..... and not judge a book by it's cover!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How come Harry books are bad, but other authors who write about witches and wizards aren't? Is she going to try banning Rapunzel next???
Are you serious? My God, when will this horrible woman give it up already?
That the thing, Queen. Why Harry Potter, not LOTR, or Narnia, or Twilight, or Eragon? Why this book? Did the Pope just say "Ummm, okay let's a pick I target to rant about for the next few years... Hey! Why not that Potter book?"
Lets just re-read this comment: Posted by HarryPotterFanAndAMomToo 3 days ago "God gave us imaginations...what a gift! I would rather have my kids running around playing with wands and pretending to do silly magic than pretending to shoot guns! " With over 500 comments on this woman again, from people who have ACTUALLY READ THE BOOKS and all agree that the books are perfectly harmless Anyone would think the protagonist is Voldemort. I think she just likes the fame.
CRUCIO!
*shakes head sadly* although i do think it'd be interesting to see her take this to the supreme court :P though they probably wont hear the case... anyway, love the comment emerson!
when will she give up..?! she is determined but determination without a cause is just plain folly..!! feel sorry for her kids though..!!
awesome! anyway, go to this link and sign-up to see another exclusive trailer, which i have mailed MN about but they havent yet put it up!!!!!!:- http://www. managerleague.com/index.p l?ref=29246
If only she was correct about all of us learning magic.... we could have modified her memory by now and gone on with life while she makes baskets at the funny farm..
Hasn't she realized she can't win?! Oh! I'm Laura Mallory someday i'll win this appeal because as you go up the politicians get stupider. Yeah...right.
.. as a christian, i'm ashamed of what this woman is doing, and i really hope that people out there who arent' christians doesn't judge us by the actions of this lady.. she is a nutter and her stupidity only makes things look bad on us.. i agree lots of her types are closed minded and don't support any real or decent talent, but i hope others won't look bad on people like me because of her... for i love the harry potter series and could not possibly be a bigger fan then i am already .... so i just ask you look over people like her because they will go away sooner or later and hopefully will be so embarrased she can not leave the confines of her home for the shame she has brought upon us all... thanks.....
"She really needs to sort out her prioreties!" Sorry couldn'r resist! Well I agree that now I find it amusing. Besides, if this makes her feel any better, the series' coming to its end anyways *tear*
Don't worry, massiejoe, we won't judge you because of one stupid woman who happens to share your faith.
Hahaha, nice one Emerson! :D Honestly, this woman just gets on my nerves. I suppose she thinks the Lord of the Rings, which is based around Christianity, is also oh-so-evil because it has magic in it? Oh, and does she know that Gandalf, the supposed Christ-figure of the books, is a WIZARD? Oh my goodness, whatever shall we do? Burn LotR! Burn HP! Burn Chronicles of Narnia! Burn just about every fantasy book on the planet! But oh, I forget. She probably hasn't read any of those, either. Excuse me, Laura Mallory, why should we criticize you, who is so quick to condemn a book you have never even read? We should probably be thanking you for getting rid of the "evil" of magic so that our children will never develop one brain cell in their heads! They'll just play violent, imagination-less video games 24/7! They'll get fat and lazy and hate reading! But oh, that's such a small price to pay if they won't be exposed to Harry Potter! Here's a suggestion for you, Laura: Read one of the Harry Potter books. Just ONE! And if you come away still thinking they're evil (I mean, their main theme is LOVE, for God's sake!), then I will eat Bart Simpson's shorts. Oh, and I have one teeny little idea for you to try too, if all else fails. GET A LIFE!!!!! Thank you. *rant over*
hpintwense's comment about liabrarys made me think more and realize that there is more to Mrs Mallory, her wish for the HP books or any book not to be in a liabrary is not hers to make. A liabrary is the bases of all knowlage good and bad, our brains assemble this knowledge and it is up to us as individuals how we interpret this information and use it or not. Knowing all the facts helps to make informed decisions in life. I.e. if you are afraid of blood can you still become a doctor? If someone told you no if you faint every time you see it there is no way you could be a doctor! Do you believe them? Or do you go and do your resurch and find out for yourself. If that information if not there?! This is just a simplistic i.e. but the theory is the same. Just look at knowledge was lost when the library at Alexandria burnt down! no one peoson should dictate what information we are allowed this is a civil right.
Oh, and btw, thank you, massejoe, for standing up for the sane Christians out there! I happen to be one of them, and think this woman is either a total nutter or needs major psychiatric help... Not all Christians are like that! In fact, most of my friends are Christian of some kind, and they all love Harry Potter! Laura Mallory is one in a million, and hopefully Jo will have her run over by a bus or something... I am one of the biggest HPfreaks out there, completely obsessed, and I am 100% proud of that!
Yes, thank you massejoe. I too am a christian, and i think Laura Mallory is giving us a bad name. But on the other hand I find it quite funny. I mean come on, if you haven't won by now why not give it a rest right? Also she is, in a way, promoting Jo and HP. I mean, people who hear about her are going to be intrested in what shes going against so they're going to want to read the books so they can form their own opinion.
I'd just like to take this opportunity to thank Laura Mallory for causing me to laugh for several minutes. Your efforts are appreciated.
Frankly, I don't think it's worth hating such an idiotic woman. I pity her, actually, for being allotted such a small intellect. On another note, wouldn't you hate it to be her child? It would just be awful to be the daughter/son of one of the most ridiculous and ridiculed women of today. Ouch.
One word: paranoid
I seem to recall that a while ago, mugglecast said that if she tried to appeal again, they would give out her phone number to the fans and et us nag her... that would be awesome. I hope they do.
"...and pray God will touch the hearts of this generation." That is such an ingnorant statement. I know loads of people who are Christian or Lutherian that read/watch Harry Potter and go to church and church events. I just got back from a church event where I was getting critized for reading Harry Potter over snowboarding. It's a fictional book. It's not teaching children about magic or the devil. The story line is good vs. evil.
I also am a Christian and I also formerly subscribed to the "anti-Harry" camp. However, I READ the books and SAW the movies and now I love HP like he was my own son. I would rather my children watch and read HP than some of the "cartoons" out today. Plus, I bet her children saw Narnia. NO DIFFERENCE!!!
Well said, Emerson. She is NOT taking the hint.
thevoicebehindtheveil: Unless you ARE Laura Mallory, I'm just laughing at her. I didnt mean to make fun of anyone here. Im laughing at how immensly DENSE that woman is. Dense, DENSE, DENSE!!! *pant pant* I'm done. So Umbridge, what's next? LOTR? Eragon? Narnia?? Good luck! *cough* CRUCIO! *cough*
whoa, dude, u think she'd get it the first time thru. i'm not sure if anyone has posted this but, if its not to bold to point out, Harry and everyone else in the books celebrate Christmas. it doesnt get much closer to God than that. this woman is one of those ppl u wish u could just find and smack. and shes not giving Georgia a bad name. i saw someone posted something about her doing that. fans dont hate ppl from Georgia, they just hate this jumped up, goody goody, goofball.
It actually is rather funny.
I give her credit for her persistence. Speaking as a Christian there are more important things to be worrying than the possible effects that Harry Potter might have on one's relationship to God. Personally, I have found the books to be spiritually enriching myself. To be blunt though, she makes Christians look stupid. She needs to learn exactly three things before she can continue on her campaign. 1) God is Sovereign over all things and since that is the case there is nothing she needs to worry or spaz over. 2) She needs to learn to evaluate things without prejudice. There is a lot of prejudice going on when it comes to the Harry Potter series. One does not need to "set down their cross" just to read the book. Mrs. Mallory would be better credited if she actually read the books. 3) There is a difference between the witchcraft that is banned in the Bible and the "witchcraft" presented in Harry Potter. The witchcraft that is banned in the Bible is tied directly to both the Egyptian, and Canaanite religious practices of the time. The stuff in Harry Potter is based in myth and folklore. Huge difference. To sum it all up a persons reaps what they sow. If she continues in such rediculous behavior her credibility will eventually be erroded and this will all come to nothing.
Look, I know I already commented on this but I can't stand not saying this: I think I'll write Keith Olbermen on Countdown and tell him about Laura and suggest that he make her the worst person in the world again!(Yes, I think she has been worst already, I'm not sure, I'll re-check that but that's moot to point) Oh, and the reason she's going after HP and not something else is because it is so well known. If she dose this one more time I'm getting my parents to drive me and my HP fan club down to GA and we will start a chant outside the courthouse that will be LONG LIVE HARRY, LONG LIVE HARRY, L-O-N-G-L-I-V-E-H-A-R-R-Y !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ! or something like that.
I just want to go on record and say that Timothy has NEVER been polite to me, ever. The first post he made to me, he called me Hitler. Timothy is not even a real Christian. He has never read the Bible (he said so himself), he hates freely (he has said so himself) and he thinks most of what Jesus did was "farfetched", (again, his own words. So other Christians really shouldn't be bothered by Timothy. He's not setting a bad example for Christians, only for posers.
Laura Voldemallory. Yes, there are things worse than death. Not making national headlines, for instance, or not being able to impose your beliefs on others.
Voldemallory..... LOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!
Laura Voldemallory...and Tom Mallory Riddle...working with each other!
Sweettweety...yeah, great idea! I watch Keith Olbermann, too! Mallory is definitely a candidate for Worst Person In The World! If there are any more "Countdown" fans reading this, write to Keith and ask him to have her declared WPITW!
Poor lady. I feel sorry for her. If only I had the extra time she's wasting with this useless crusade. The question is how far will she go before she realizes she is being a tad foolish?
What is with these people?! A person tries to give the world a decent kid's book and this is what they get? How come they don't protest against and ban the rest of the fairytales?!
I live in Gwinnett county Georgia, where Laura Mallory lives and is trying to get the books banned. Basically those of us who live here are just sick of this woman. We're tired of such an ignorant person trying to ban something in our schools that she's never actually read and being represented by such stupidity. To everyone out there please DO NOT think that this woman in any way reflects the views or oppinions of other people living in Gwinnett County, we love Harry Potter and in truth don't really know where this woman came from.
Maybe she's just trying to make a stir and get her name out there. Look how many comments we've wasted on her. Not that I take her seriously, but if those were real spells, IMPARIO!!!
stupid woman. =X
It's funny how stupid people can be! She hasn't even read one book and she thinks it's going to make people become wickens! For god's sake most of the people in the books are Christians anyway, they celebrate Christmas! But even if it did promote the wicken religon, who said it would be that bad? They can decide for themselves what religon they believe in it's not her decision! She shouldn't be trying to make everyone all one religon, the main reason for why most people came to America was for "Freedom of Religon" anyway. She just needs to cool down and take a nap. I hope one of her kids gets obbsessed with Harry Potter, that would be funny.
What an IDIOT!!!!! Is she even from this world? My family and I love Harry Potter and know it's only fiction. Cant she tell the difference between real and makebelieve? GET A LIFE MALLORY!
ok this women obviously has problems how do u go around saying that something isnt "good" for people if she hasn't even experienced it. "ya a book is obviously gunna ruin a persons life"*sarcastic voice".
I was reading the comments just now and HPFANTimothy, I'm not offended, I'm ashamed you were critizized about your religion, and this woman needs to get a bloody life
timothy i sent you an email but i changed my mind. I don't want to be in your anti-book-burning club because i think you are mean. i am a christian and i don't think a christian should say the things that you are saying, no matter how angry they get,
