How can this book promote such awful things when what it really does is to encourage kids to read and learn. Plus, I'm Christian, I attend a Christian school and our school library has at least 5 copies of each Harry Potter book so everyone can share, I've read the books more than five times and I haven't attempted to wave a stick and yell "Lumos" out loud because that is plain ridiculous! And to make my final point, Ms. Mallory needs to take a history lesson because Wiccan people don't act this way! No wands for one, and they worship NATURE and NOT the DEVIL. My question is why did you choose this particular book ? There are books that have been apart of Children’s life for years with witches and magic. I mean out of all the books that go against Christian beliefs this book actually took Christ's divinity away, Dan Brown actually made him human. He made Christ look like the ordinary guy who had a girlfriend and had a kid with her, Mary Magdalene!. Harry Potter is minor compared to that book, it actually made my dad speculate on it and it made me give the theory more thought. Ahh, this is emotionally and mentally draining. I wonder how many of you are doing the same thing that Ms. Mallory is doing. I've read lots of comments that express outrage that she is passing judgement on the books without reading them. How many of you are passing judgement on her ideas without reading her website? Are you just taking Mugglenet's word about what she says? Before you flame me, I've read each Potter book 2-3 times and love them.

I also told her that if my child wishes to read Harry Potter that it is up to me to decide if that is ok, not her. My child is 6 years old and LOVES Harry Potter. She isn't old enough to read the books yet, as they are above her reading level, but she watches the movies and loves them. ok Calypphire i am a catholic too and I also believe in God. But reading harry potter has not stopped me from believing in God. I have been reading Harry Potter since 3rd grade, and I am a sophomore now, and I still believe in God. Harry Potter has not stopped me, nor has any other book or movie that imposes the idea of witchcraft..
