Laura Mallory is an insult to Christians everywhere. She makes Christians look stupid and close-minded. I wish someone would slap sense into her.

Just remember ladies and gentlemen, don't send crude or illiterate emails or her point will be further proven.

You would think after three failed attempts, she would wonder what shes doing wrong and try to educate herself... might i suggest reading the books?

Mallory actually makes me laugh some times, as I am thinking why she is trying to do this. I am not angry with her, ok a little peeved, but I'm not angry, as there are worse people to be angry with in this world than that drongo Mallory. From what I am reading from the comments, not one of you HP fans have been tempted to do evil things, such as joining a gang or doing drugs, or both. It is sad that people can be like Mallory.

I live in Gwinnett, hometown of Mrs. Mallory I discovered Harry Potter in my Senior English Class. I have read everybook multiple times since then. I am still Christian, and have not dabbled in the "Dark Arts". I think that it is odd that she believes God has been answering her specific prayers on this issue. Most of the time when I pray God's answer is no, and I believe it is the best thing. The fact the she thinks she has God answering her prayers about whether or not to persecute a BOOK is strikingly odd. I also agree with a lot of you. Discretion should be left to individual parents and eventually their children when they believe they are old enough. She just needs to read Farenhiet 451 to see what her ideal world would be like. I don't agree with the fact that she is comparing this to taking the Bible out of schools. I've never heard of a school having a Qu'raan or Torah in their library, and if the put the Bible back I guarantee that she would not approve of either's content, but what I am suggesting would only make sense to a person with an open mind. She is a hypocrite. She is technically devoting her life to witchcraft. Not in the sensse that she is promoting it, though. It is really pathetic because she will NEVER win. She just needs to give up and lock herself in a church for the rest of her life. Next thing we know she'll be putting Harry Potter as the blame for global warming and the war in Iraq. Laura Mallory has totally lost it. If she's already lost the case...twice? Then what is possessing her to make her think that she can actually win it this time? And as bad as I feel about how stupid she is making herself look, I really pity her children. When they go to school people must look at them and say "those are the kids who's mom is trying to ban Harry Potter". If Mallory doesn't want her children reading the books, then she should leave it at her own children. But going and trying to get it banned from libraries is not only ridiculous and totally stupid, but it's probably not making anything easier for her kids.

I just contacted her at her website with a long and lengthly rant about how disgusting what she's doing is... of course, I didn't use those words. I wish I had thought to copy and paste it before I sent it in, but the gist of it was that she is a disgusting human being that cannot force other people to do what she wants, and that I severely pity any of her children for having to grow with her as a mother.

I can't believe she's still going on about on this - does she actually think the courts will suddenly decide "oh, you know, maybe she's right after all! I went to that site. It is all a load of crap. I go to a catholic school, and my religion teachers. PRIESTS! say harry potter is okay. In fact, one day my teacher and I had a debate on who was going to die in the seventh book. People are getting to radicle with this. I grew up with harry potter! Am I doing witch craft, NO. On the website she gievs an example about how some crazy school for witchcraft had like fourty students and now they have eighty... ooooo. Well I am glad they have such a high ratio. 80 to what a trillion?

I became a Harry Potter fan at age 14 back in 2001. I'm now 20. I don't drink, smoke anything or do anything bad at all. I attribute that to Harry Potter books giving me something to make my bad days better and give me something to look forward to. I have actually become less violent (I can control my temper much easier and I rarely get angry) and I have gone from a Catholic who didnt go to church from 1999-2005 to one who hasnt missed a week in nearly 2 years since. Ever since I started reading the books 6 years ago I have never failed to get an A in English class. I used to be a B- C+ English student. I have become a much better person and I have never once had an urge to practice witchcraft, because I have a brain and realize its a bunch of weird stuff that oddballs spend their time on. I cannot believe this women. She is going to go down as one of the biggest laughing-stocks of all time. If I hear about Laura Mallory again I am going to go insane this women has no importance to me what-so-ever all she succeeds in doing is making people's blood pressures go up. And where was she when the LOTR movies came out? She only picks on HP because its successful and deep down she knows that JKR has more talent in her pinky than this woman has in her whole body and mind and she could never come up with an idea that could captivate people from all over the world. I bet you God looks at this woman when she dies and tells her to lighten up.

We voted and the other book won, but when we finshed reading that one, she read us HP and I fell in love with it. POINT OF STORY: DON'T JUDGE A BOOK BY IT'S COVER!! I learned that. And I am surprised she is putting out a way to contact her, because she is going to be SWAMPED with stuff.

Can someone please shut this lady up? I'm sick of her trying to attack Harry Potter about witchcraft. If she's so worried about her kids turning into little satanists why doesn't she start with Disney? Disney teaches us that its ok to use magic, for good, as does Harry Potter. Look at Sleeping Beauty, Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather, each use magic, Cinderella with her Fairy God-Mother, again magic, Rafiki from Lion King is supposed to be a shaman, which contacts the spirits that have passed, which is also considered somewhat of magic. And besides this is America where we have the freedom to what we want to read, watch, and worship.

I think everyone else has said everything I had intended to say and then some, so bravo to all the commenters. You saved me a lot of time and trouble in my ranting. But let me just put all of this in perspective and have a little fun: I hope everyone is familiar with the concept of natural selection, the driving force of evolution. What essentially happens is that the individuals within a population that carry sets of traits that make them less favorable for survival than others are eliminated from the population gene pool as time goes on. Too bad for Mallory, because she definitely belongs to that group of people! Which means that her energy and time spent procreating her four children were a complete waste, since each of them carries half of her genes, and thus have that handicap when it comes to further procreation. Basically, self-elimination occurs and Mallory and her descendents will not be able to last long on this planet. I guess we won't need to bother with people like her for long. Aah, how I love the forces of evolution. Oh yes, and Harry Potter most definitely RULES!!!

My god, woman, witchcraft/magic IS NOT REAL! Harry Potter was heavily recommended by my teachers even when I went to CATHOLIC SCHOOL. I've been reading the books happily for almost a decade now, and I neither drink, smoke, or do drugs, nor do I act cruelly towards any of my peers. Even at the "impressionable age" of nine I knew the books weren't real - most kids DO know they aren't real (there is a large difference between children playing a fantasy game on the playground and actually believing that Harry Potter magic exists!). I agree with most of the other comments left here; no more stories on this crazy until a verdict is reached. I'm getting the feeling she enjoys the limelight a little too much.

I sent an email to the website just saying that if she is going to protest something so heavily, she should at least know all the facts and both sides. I told her she might even have more credit if she read the books and tried quoting from them. Her ignorance is keeping her from actually being somewhat taken for real.

I think Harry Potter does the opposite of all those things! It stops kids from using drugs, violence, etc. It would be great for those anti-drug commercials. She has no proof to back up anything she says.

I am a Catholic Christian. I go to Mass regularly. I have a crucifix above my bed. I read Harry Potter religiously. And I DESPISE that close-minded woman and the rest of the world including, I'm sorry to say, the Pope. The rest of the Christian community who think that Harry Potter is turning kids away from God are ridiculous. What we must do as a group of Harrylovers is band together and fight back, let the rest of the world know who we are, what we believe in, and what we don't. We need to defend Jo Rowling and ourselves against the judgment of people who think that Harry Potter has a negative influence on children and promotes witchcraft.
