The relationship that a film director has with the composer is a crucial one, as the composer is responsible for taking the director’s vision and acting as a translator between the visual and auditory experiences. As such, certain directors and composers often work together, a notable example being director Steven Spielberg and composer John Williams.

BWWClassicalWorld.com reports that the pair, who have been collaborating for 40 years, will have some of their efforts featured in a concert by the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (BSO) on June 4th, and will be conducted by none other than John Williams himself.

The concert will feature various scores such as Star Wars, Indiana Jones, E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial, Schindler’s List, and of course, Harry Potter. In addition, clips from the films will be projected during the concert.

This will also serve as a benefit, with Williams donating his services in order to fundraise for the BSO musicians’ pension fund.

The concert will take place on Tuesday, June 4th at 8pm, at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall for one night only. Tickets can be purchased through the BSO Ticket Office and BSOmusic.org, and go on sale to the general public Monday, March 11th, but are on sale now for BSO subscribers and donors.

Will you attend this very special event? What was your favourite Spielberg-Williams collaboration?
