Positive 'Equus' reviews
Last night, the first performance of Equus starring Dan Radcliffe took place in London's West End. DanRadcliffe.com now has a great review online, a snippet of which is below:
Throughout the entire show Radcliffe was well poised, well spoken, in character and emotionally charged. He hit every mark spot on... he portrayed the right balance between insanity and reverence, spirituality and emptiness, awakening and shutting down... it just all clicked in one go. He definitely struck the right balance on stage.
The Daily Mail says: For Radcliffe, it was a big mental leap from portraying JK Rowling's boy wizard to taking on a character in the psychoreligious exploration of equine worship. Radcliffe could have stood on the stage and read the London telephone book and the play still would have sold out. That he took on such an intellectual theatrical challenge was brave - and he succeeded.
You can see a new photo of Dan in the play here.

Congratz to Dan...I knew he would nail it...otherwise they wouldn't have cast him. The reviews speak loud and clear!!
I saw the play last night, it was great!! Took a while to get over the fact it was Dan in a different role. Not surpriseing to see the theatre was full. He was really good in the part. Was a bit shocked to see him naked!!!! Knew it was coming but still.... After a while got back into the play. Would reccomend it to anyone. It was good fun, and it was great to see Dan in another role. He really excelled himself, he looked a bit nervous at the end, when he came out to receive his round of applause. The audience were cheering and clapping so loud, he stood there grinning. It was great. That will keep me going until movie 5 and the bk 7 comes out.
You know I think they are right when they say lets keep mugglenet on harry potter oriented stories and not on dan radcliffe's stories or emma watson. It's true that maybe a good number of us may be fans of the actors but if we want info on them we can go to their official websites! Even though sincerely I thought Daniel was another type of guy and well I am not a fan anymore maybe because after all I have grown out of the fanship or what you call it ! He is quite brave to do such an act of someone who s deranged and mad . But not keen on seeing his butt and what not on mugglenet...cause i just check it out to keep myself updated with HP stories and i enjoy reading editorials.
Oooh, I really would like to see this one! Maybe travel there and see it and a bunch of other plays on my birthday ;)! I look forward to reading more reviews and I hope that Radcliffe will pull it off and that the critics will have something positive etc. to say about his performance!
I wonder what Jo thinks of this new " step" of his?
Another good review in the tabloid newspaper The Sun... http://www.th esun.co.uk/article/0,,4-2 007070945,00.html
Jo is going to see Equus i think she's okay with it, bwof *rolls eyes*
GO DAN! i knew he could handle it and i want everyone to lay of him, as the review said "hes brave....and succeeded"
GO DAN!!!!! top 60? hehe
a UK tabloid paper has a very um... revealing shot of dan at some point in the play, i think its during the middle somewhere, its with the girl in the other shots on here, but yeh, its ummm.... not for the eyes of the younger ones,.
what is he doing in that pic?
riding the man in the horse mask.
i just realized that dan is going to roam abt naked infront of so many ppl on my bIrthday! OMG I AM LOST FOR WORDS
@ Slither: Well that´s good news, then! I hope to see it sometime before it ends in June too! It was just a qustion, what did you roll your eyes for? Where have you got to know that she´s gonna see it?
In the in depth interview Daniel Radcliffe gave earlier in the week. Dan sais Jo was going to see it; if she told him that in person, i think we can assume he's telling the truth... the eye rolling was because i assumed you thought that Jo would be surprised at Dans move. forgive me i was wrong to assume... I heard Dan sings the milky bar kid song as his first line in the play lol! "The Milky bar kid is strong and tough, and only the best is good enough, the milkiest milk, the whitest bar, the goodness that's in Milky Bar" lol i loff that advert.
No need to aplogise ;).I was a bit surprised when I first heard that he was going to be in the play but that said, I am very curious too see it and hope that he will do well and blah blah blah but you get my point, right? :).
sure lol. ;)
Good for Daniel! I never thought he quite did Harry justice in the HP movies *ducks*, but hearing people praise him for this is so nice to hear! Some people work better on stage than the movies. I like the stage, but I don't think I'd ever do well in a movie. The stage is just so much more alive, and I think that works well for Dan. Awesome! I hope he goes far, I really do.
To be honest, since I am familiar with the play, and the complexity of the role, I thought Dan was going to lay an egg. But he is obviously growing and blooming as a young actor, and I am glad to see that it looks like he will have a career in the Post-Potter years.
I'm proud of him. =D Great job, Dan.
I saw the play last night and really enjoyed it. Daniel is not the lead, even though the play is centred around his character - Alan Strang's actions. The first three quarters of act one don't really feature Alan much although he is almost always on stage (usually with his back to the audience), when he did speak it was at most 2 lines and so I was a bit worried that I wasn't going to be able to disassociate him from Harry Potter, but I was worrying needlessly because in that last quarter of act one Alan Strang comes alive and so did Daniels acting, it remained so through out act two. The photo Mugglenet have posted comes from a scene at the end of act one and it is one of the most exciting and vibrant pieces of theatre I have seen in a long time. I don't want to spoil it for anyone I'll just say that I'd highly recommend the play.
I wish I could see it. I hope it does come to Broadway. I'm glad the reviews are so good. From what people have told me about the Sun, it figures the Sun would be the one to come up with a butt shot. I totally disagree with everyone who has said Mugglenet should only put up Harry Potter news. There's only so much HP news to talk about at any one time. If we continue to follow the actors, even after the HP books and films are done, Mugglenet could definitely go on forever.
Mugglenet, you guys should really read these comments before they are posted: Posted by AnyaMarcos 3 days ago Quidditchgirl you should just do your family a favor and kill yourself. That's a really terrible thing to have posted on a forum, you should delete that comment. It's pathetic that some fans are so passionate about the actors that they would say something so terrible. Mugglenet needs to censor stuff like that.
congrats dan. lmao yea i saw the picture of his butt, it was the same one i saw in my local newspaper on the article about him. haha lmao....
