WB supports Daniel
As of late, many British tabloids have falsely reported that Warner Bros. is displeased with Daniel Radcliffe's decision to perform in the play Equus. A WB spokesperson has in response to these claims issued the following statement:

"Daniel Radcliffe is an extremely talented actor, as well as a great collaborator and friend to Warner Bros. Pictures. We've had great experiences working with him on our films and fully support him in the artistic choices he makes as an actor."

In related news, here are some photos of Daniel signing autographs following Friday night's performance. Thanks, WENN.

You fans girls DO NOT SCARE ME!!!!!!! I will not back down from the truth!!!

Posted by Nimue Feb 18th 2007

@ Quiditchgirl24 7 Your original post was not based on fact, just an accumulation of the opinions of a certain group of people. Similarly, the reaction of so-called 'fangirls' is also a set of opinions of one group. 'Truth' is only ever subjective in cases like this. You claim Radcliffe would never have made it without WB. Others disagree. Deal.

Posted by Hollie Feb 18th 2007

Dunno if it has been posted because I can't be bothered to read through the comments but : Blurry photo of NAKED DAN on stage has been posted on ONTD under the headline "Please kill me off, begs Potter star". In the comment there is also a detailed description of the nude scene for anyone interested (on the second page of comments). Oh, and yay for WB

Posted by Quidditchgirl24 Feb 18th 2007

hey polish, it called freedom! Look into it. Everyone can state their option!!

Posted by ronnie_lurves_hermy Feb 18th 2007

good for WB. What would posses anyone to make up a stupid lie like that anyway?

Posted by ronnie_lurves_hermy Feb 18th 2007

Im sorry but Quiddichgirl24 6, you REALLY do have to stop. Yes, we understand that you dont like dan-you have made that quite clear. You dont have to comment negatively to every article that is posted about him. Quite frankly, it is very rude and is a serious waste of your time. I suggest that you take it to the producers of this site or to Warner Brothers if you have an issue with Dan or the articles posted about him here.

Posted by polish Feb 18th 2007

Quidditchgirl24, wow! im not a fangirl, im just tired of reading the same thing. its your opinion and im not saying its wrong, i said i didn't like when they post comments to get comments back, like trying to catch the attention of the fangirls who, you know are obvioulsy going to answer back to "defend" daniel.

Posted by GrownUpChick Feb 18th 2007

Will everyone please ignore Quidditchgirl24? Everytime someone posts something directly to her, she sits there in front of her computer laughing her you-know-what off. I've decided to make one last comment to her and that's it: Girl, you know darn well Dan has NEVER "demanded" that Jo kill Harry off. As if she's going to write what he, or anyone else, wants. Yeah, right! Please go get a life and stop telling us you have one. If you did, you would't have made as many comments as you already have just on this one article. Just find an I-hate-Dan-Radcliffe site and go there, okay? Now, regarding this deliberately extremely vague statement from WB: All they are really saying is that the rumors that they're mad at him for doing "Equus" are false. Nowhere do they say Dan is doing any more HP films and that's what concerns me. What I want to know is...when is someone with some authority going to go on the record and confirm that Dan has signed a contract for HBP?

Posted by my_ceddyteddy Feb 18th 2007

I just have one thing to say...................... ......................... ......................... ......................... ......................... ......................... ......................... ......................... ......................... ......................... ......................... ......................... ......................... ......................... ......................... ......................... ......................... ......................... ......................... .....................NICE HAT, DAN!

what hat?

Posted by polish Feb 18th 2007

hahaha grownupchick, you said what i said in the other comment i posted. about the webpage hahaha oh god, now im laughing.

Posted by aussie_hpfan Feb 18th 2007

Hollie, it's not a real pic, the person who posted it even says it, it's photosophed. That site is all rubbish.

Posted by Padfoot_SiriusBlack Feb 18th 2007

Go Daniel! He Rocks!!!

Posted by Hollie Feb 18th 2007

aussie_hpfan :First of all, ONTD isn't rubbish. I believe you'll find it is one of the biggest gossip sites on the web. Secondly, I'm not talking about the photoshopped Equus picture, I'm talking about the one on stage at the top.

Posted by GrownUpChick Feb 18th 2007

Wait...what's this about a gossip website? Isn't all gossip rubbish?

Posted by Hollie Feb 18th 2007

Oh No They Didn't has one blurry photo of Dan naked on stage. That is what it is all about. Mmmm, I must admit I am rather addicted to gossip sites at the moment. It's basically a celebrity news website - also dubbed as "gossip"

Posted by polish Feb 18th 2007

i havent seen those pictures! what?

Posted by Hollie Feb 18th 2007

Go on Oh No They Didnt and on the second page they have a story saying: "Please kill Harry, says Potter star" (or something like that) click on it and there is a picture.

Posted by ghpfan Feb 18th 2007

Dan, you're a really good actor. ( but there were nicer pictures before :-b )

Posted by sticky Feb 18th 2007

i am glad that WB are supporting Dan, i don't believe that they would ave gotten rid of him fro the HP moies cos of Equus........Quiditchgirl ...once again u have written some coments that are not at all called for....dan hasn't DEMANDED that Jk should kill harry inthe seventh book, he merely stated his opinion that he would like to play a death scene in the last film, as something new, and his theory of the last book is that harry wi die, like we all have theories bout wil harry die or not so STOP NOW... you don't make any sense and your facts aren't true at all........by the way your coments aren't t all threatening to dan and whatever, just annoying.....i thought your were goig to dissapear off th the leaky cauldron anyway.....WHY ARE U BACK?????? anyway GO DAN AND THANJYOU WB!!!!

Posted by sticky Feb 18th 2007

don't u just love dan's hat!!!!!!!he is such a good actor.....

Posted by iwishiwashermione Feb 18th 2007

i doubt that wb would just turn their backs on dan because of this. i mean, this a great play. it does not look like dan in the pictures too.

Posted by Reena Feb 18th 2007

Oh for god's sake... Will you all please ignore quidditchgirl? Don't you know that silly little c**t laps up your outrage like a pig on slop? And of course WB supports him. They've known about it for two years, and they're not stupid enough to turn down free publicity regarding their newly smokin' hot star.

Posted by Scarlette Feb 18th 2007

Just because Daniel's been playing Harry Potter for the past few years, it doesn't mean he should need anyone's permission to do something "controversial". If that play was in Toronto, I'd definitely go see it - not because I'm a fan of Daniel's (because I'm not), but because of the plotline. Remember guys, Daniel's old enough to make his own choices, and no one has any right to deny him of that. I really don't get why anyone would be displeased with his performance in a play. It's not like he signed a contract (when he started harry potter) that stated he will never be nude in anything.

Posted by Quidditchgirl24 Feb 18th 2007

You notice how i didn't post for the last 3 hours and you all are still talking about me, I feel so horoned and loved. I love you too. Just because Dan doesn't love you, doesn't mean I don't. OH, and you guys don't run the board, just because you don't like what I have to say. No one said a DAME word to you guys when post 1000 messages about Dan's ugly looking ass. You 2 people can ignore me all you want, you have gone to the darkside. I am posting for all the people who are tried of this website giving his play free publicity. But I am trying to state my option. Thats all. Lets remember this is Harry Potter site, not a Dan site. Love ya lots:) Hate me, love me, read me, ignore me. I will not stop posting!

Posted by Stitch Feb 18th 2007

This press release is classic PR. Read the words very, very carefully. They refer to working with him in the past tense and they don't say that he is going to continue as Harry. They don't say they look forward to working with him or anything. They simply say that he is very professional and they support his creative decisions. They have to say this because they have a $200 million film coming out in 5 months and they don't want to lose any more money on it by appearing to be against their lead actor. Trust me, this controversy is going to get worse before it gets better. It's only a matter of time before full nude pics of this 17 year old get out over the internet (there are rumors they have already) and he just won't be able to continue as Harry if that happens. Right now WB is thinking about the 5th film and the 5th film only. They cannot trash their star while they are promoting it. I personally think that Dan should voluntarily step down as Harry. It's the right thing to do. That way he can do whatever he wants as an actor without controversy and WB doesn't have to worry about losing profits on their biggest family-friendly franchise.

Don't worry Hollie - I saw the pic. Too bad its of his butt again. I mean I know it said blurry but I thought it was at least going to be a frontal. Oh and about quidditchgirl . .. seriously guys be glad that you are part of a site which allows people to post stuff like that. I'd rather just scroll passed comments I don't like then not see them at all. It's the reason why I stoppped going to Vertiserum, that site is total bs.

Posted by Scarlette Feb 18th 2007

I think it would be very stupid for them to get rid of Daniel Radcliffe. He's been playing Harry since the beginning and they would lose a LOT of their fanbase if they were to replace Harry for the final two movies. Imagine Elijah Wood was replaced as Frodo for Return of the King, or Keanu Reeves was replaced in The Matrix Revolutions, or Hugh Jackman was replaced in X-Men: The Last Stand. These three trilogies aren't nearly as established as Harry Potter since, since HB is going to be in 7 parts, not just 3. Many people will be angry, and be aware that not EVERY single Harry Potter fan knows about this little "nude" adventure of Daniel's. Honestly, getting rid of Daniel for such a stupid thing is pathetic. He IS Harry Potter, no matter how bad of an actor some people might think he is. He'll always be Harry.

Posted by Glubad Feb 18th 2007

Ok, so you know the countdown thingie? I PUT IT ON MY DESKTOP< AND IT WONT EVEN SHOW PROPERLY< AND NOW IT WONT COME OFF!!! HOW DO I GET IT OFF!! HELP? PLEASE? as for the wb thing, i mean, they would have discussed things like this when he was signing a contract, right?

Posted by Nitwit_Blubber_Oddment_Tweak Feb 18th 2007

well...I think NUDITY is a bit much...but i think we as fans should support every decision he makes. lol.

Posted by jasmine Feb 18th 2007

Don't mean to be a cynic but this WB support seems to come only after the first reviews of Equus came out. That "EXTREMELY TALENTED ACTOR" would never have been uttered by wb to refer to Dan before Equus. They too must have been amazed at the positive response to Dan's performance and has no choice now but to support Dan since his gamble paid off. I mean, what would there excuse not to support him be? Dan has proven that he could act and to reject him for proving that is bad press for the studio. Besides, there would have been a worldwide riot if they replaced Dan.

Posted by gymgrl Feb 18th 2007

did anyone actually see the play???

Posted by LLfan Feb 18th 2007

The WB would be extremely stupid to let go of Radcliffe because of Equus. I'm not too thrilled with the wording of the studio's press statement because it was all in past tense but I think that is in part because DR hasn't officially signed on for the 6th film (or it hasn't been officially announced). However, I don't think the WB should/will loose sleep at night because of whatever potential press or photos that might come out of Daniel's performance, since early indicators seem that this play will give more credibility not only to DR as an actor, but to the HP film franchise. The WB should be thankful that Daniel is giving them some press, even if the image is considered to be out of the HP mold. The original rumor of the WB's displeasure came from a UK talboid mag (based on my opinion from reading that dreadful article) that needed to make and sell some dirt. If anything, the WB would need to keep *all* of it's cast members in-tact because the 7th and (sadly) final book will be coming out this July and the Harry Potter machine will have died down a bit because most of the audiences will know what the ending/conclusion of the series will be. To change actors, especially to fire Daniel, whose just doing another job, albeit a more controversial role, would hurt the final two HP films. Just my opinion.

Posted by kiff Feb 18th 2007

To Jasmine: I don't think it is fair on WB to say they only came out and supported him after the first stage performance was a success. They have been supporting him for a year or more on this. Dan's agents obtained WB blessing to do this a year or more ago. Do you think WB would not have checked up and read the play? IAn earlier version was filmed in 1977 too! No - they supported him all along and issued the press release because of an old Daily Mail story - first published weeks ago - which was repeated this week by the Mail so they could sabotage the first performance. The Mail had to eat their own words when their own theatre critic, a couple of days later, praised the play and praised Dan's performance! WB has supported Dan all along on this - not just this week.

Posted by Annie Feb 18th 2007

Dan looks ridiculously hot in that hat. Even if you can't see his face.

Posted by silverphoenix21 Feb 18th 2007

I don't understand why they would be displeased in the first place but okay...

Posted by deathlyuser Feb 18th 2007

Dan looks so werid in those pictures.

Posted by elenna12 Feb 19th 2007

Extremely talented? Well, not so sure. I too think that Dan is a good actor, but as someone already said, he's still got a lot to learn. Yes, it is true that his performance gets better with every movie. His acting in the first two movies was, well, nothing more than cute. This movie's definitely going to be a big breaking point. His role becomes emotionally much deeper because of Sirius' death.:( That really IS very hard to act, first his disbelief and despair, than his anger and bitterness, and in the end emptiness and resignation. He'll have to give his best, but I'm sure Equus has helped him to grow and develop as an actor. We yet have to see...

Posted by Edward88Italy Feb 19th 2007

Yes..."IMO" doesn't mean 'I know a lot more than WB and I'm right when they're not.' ;) With 4 visions of Dan on screen, I think he is not so 'extremely talented'. Afterall Dan is already a confirmed actor, I was just trying to be different from all those who love him only for his face and/or role. ...and I'm talking about ALL my friends :/ ;) I have to go...huge homeworks are calling me... I hope these words haven't been useless, or I promise you a won't post a comment here never again!! :P Just kidding. Bye!

Posted by Jax_Draconia Feb 19th 2007

Um...nice hat? I mean- Go Dan!

Posted by Kareen Feb 19th 2007

Pfft... tabloids. They're so stupid. I mean why would you want to make a living off of making someone else look bad or spreading rumors about them? Thus why I don't want to watch that show Dirt on FX. But props to WB for actually calling them out on how stupid they were to report something like that.

Posted by Jeannine Feb 19th 2007

aussie_hpfan--Why do you even care what Quidditchgirl says about Daniel , or any thing else for that matter, she is just trying to start a fight because for some personal reason she needs it. Her condicending attitude , by referring to you as "dear", shows you that. ignore her , she isn't worth arguing with .____I am very happy WB has desided to state the fact that they want Daniel for their films [HP and otherwise] and that they support his other projects. Which can only help them in the long run. I think they want a long future with Daniel as well, far beyond HP.

Posted by dobbyrocksmysocks31 Feb 19th 2007

i think its good for dan to do new things which arent hp related - i mean rupert had a 'sex' scene in driving lessons and there wasnt such a big fuss - so let dan be - i just think emma should get going on new films before the other 2 get too far ahead. :-P and omg those pics of dan signing autographs are absolutely awful - he looks a tad chavvish - love dan and the pics of equus were fab but these pics do nothing for him xx

Posted by Leticia_Grint Feb 19th 2007

nice, but i think dan is a REALLY bad actor. when harry's crying under the cloak in PoA he was almost like "sniff, sniff, i'm crying!" rupert is the best actor of the trio. of all the actors of HP.

Posted by trueobsession Feb 19th 2007

How sweet is it of Dan to sign autographs? Between that and his determination to get a reply out to every person who writes to him, I think he's amazing with handling his fans and so far does seem the most commendable out of the HP actors And I've heard that Dan has signed on to do HBP for sure and he's said it's stupid not to do the last one after doing all the others so it doesn't sound like he'd voluntarily just walk off (I'm not sure of the source, sorry!). I do agree that the WB pretty much has no choice but to say they support Dan with their movie coming up, though it's still nice to hear As for the rumours that there are already pics of naked!Dan frontally, yes those are not rumours. My friend sent me a link a while ago of a pic of one of the promotional pics released except the photo didn't cut off at his waist I'm curious about the play now, I may just be compelled enough to read it as I have heard many good things about it from you guys =) Go Dan!

Posted by GrownUpChick Feb 19th 2007

Letitcia_Grint: we can all tell by your screen name which one of the boys you prefer. That's fine. Rupert has many fans. However, I respectfully disagree with your assessment of the trio's acting abilities. While I am in agreement with you that Dan did a poor job in the POA scene you mentioned, Rupert hams it up quite often. If he's going to survive in the acting business, he needs to learn that "less is more". His overly exaggerated facial expressions are not good acting. I think he would benefit from some professional workshops. Maybe his hero, Jim Carrey, should have a talk with him about when it's okay to be completly whacky("Ace Ventura", "The Cable Guy") and when an actor needs to reign in the craziness("Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind", "The Truman Show", etc.). I think he did a little better in "Driving Lessons" but he really should stop turning Ron into a clown.

Posted by AnyaMarcos Feb 19th 2007

The improvement in Dan's acting between PoA and GoF was remarkable. It shows that the talent is there, it just needs to be brought to the surface. I also want to point out that it doesn't matter what anyone, pro or anti Dan/Equus, thinks about this whole thing. It's none of our business. If people want to get all huffy and boycott the rest of the HP films because of Dan's choice, then go for it. It's your right. Just don't expect the rest of the world to give a crap. :-)

Posted by sticky Feb 19th 2007

Dan has really progressed over the last couple of years and his acting is getting better as we are seeing more of his abilities, its alright to have opinions about the actors and stuff even if it is negative cos its your opinion, ( negative comments never come from me i support dan and the other actors all the time, everytime) but sometimes people just go too far, with negative points especially trying to get attention, etc. if peopel want ot be all huffy about things, fine.......keep it to your self, one comment is fine,....but five.....thats too far........:)

Posted by TheDeathlyHallows Feb 19th 2007

way to go, dan! 100th comment! =]]
