The idea of the sextet hearing the prophecy WORKS for the film, and the future - who are the only people Harry's age that he trusts? That group. It builds up the importance of the six DA members, and strengthens their relationships in HBP and beyond,

Posted by UniversalGSPrincess Mar 5th 2007

Thank you for the details. I plan on reading spoilers if I come across them. I wont go out of my way but, if they are there I will read them. It isnt like I dont know what is and isnt goign to happen. I just love to hear the opinions! I cant' wait to see it for my self but, I love to hear about the pre-finnished elements!

What about Snape's Worst Memory?...I haven't heard much about that, and I'm looking forward to it the most---

Posted by MeNotHer Mar 5th 2007

im excited no matter what!

Posted by july21tillhp7 Mar 5th 2007

thanks to most of u for saying that u have a spolier in u post!! and to everybody else that got anything to do with the spoilers in their post plz say it so ppl like me, who dont want to read any of the spoilers, wont have to see the spoilers! :0

Posted by Emmasj Mar 5th 2007

Gah. It sounds terrible. Oh well--that's why I'm not going to see it. Stupid things, the movies.

Posted by dragons_melody Mar 5th 2007

barely any draco nooooooo not fair im not reading any more STUPID reviews im sorry just a little mad ( crosses arms and pouts)

Posted by madsci Mar 5th 2007

Neville isn't named as the other 'Chosen One' in the film (to be fair, it adds more to the story, and doesn't go anywhere. We know that Neville's parents were tortured by Death Eaters and Neville survived - in film terms, we don't need to recognise his role in the prophecy, BECUASE IT'S NOT HIM!!! Therefore, the July/thrice defied part of the prophecy is unimportant. All DD has to say is that Harry is the one in the prophecy (the Chosen One).

Posted by iluvandrew Mar 5th 2007

SPOILER....sounds cool but im kind of disappointed about the cho telling thing. i really can't see cho doing that even if she has 'issues'. and the prophecy!!! why'd they change it!! and why does everyone have to hear it!? this is so frustrating. im hoping lucius didn't hear it cuz that will mess up the plot a lot cuz then voldy will know the whole prophecy. so basically im torn between being really excited about this and really disappointed...but regardless this movies still sounds awesome!

Posted by i_loverz_HP Mar 5th 2007

thats dumb how they have cho tell on harry....... ghetto. its prolly gonna be good it just seems they left alot out and like didnt explain it enough thats disappointing :[[

Posted by Tony_the_Terrible Mar 5th 2007

Thank you, WB, for butchering the books in the movies as usual. Why don't you just make up your own Harry Potter stories, then make movies of them. Don't ruin the ones that we all love so much. I knew if this movie was shorter than 4 hours, it would not do the book justice. Alas, sounds as if I was right.

Posted by LuLu Mar 5th 2007

How diapointing! It sounds like a lot was left out!! I'm sure it's an excellent movie, but with the essential plot points omitted, I can hardly imagine what they're going to do with the last two movies!!! Even so, can't wait to see it!

Posted by Arya_of_Ellesmera Mar 5th 2007

Well, a few of the minor plot details that are MAJORLY HUGE have been left out...OI, what if they left out QUIDDITCH!!!!! "Weasley is our king, Weasley is our king..." I mean COME ON! And they let everyone hear the prophecy. That totally ruins the discussion between Harry and Dumbledore at the end, which was one of my favorite parts!!! And CHO being the snitch? That leaves out Hermione's "SNEAK" spell with Marietta *smirks* Though, I'm quite excited about the D.A. It should be interesting. Ah well, the more they leave out, the more fun I have about ranting to my non-HP friends (like I did on the Eragon movie...disgraceful). As long as it isn't as bad as Eragon was, I'll be fine.

Posted by starlight Mar 5th 2007

Reading this makes me slightly upset. Cho told?!! What the heck. Why do they feel the need to change these plot lines that are important??? I guess ill have to wait to see it to make my final decision.

Posted by UniversalGSPrincess Mar 5th 2007

**SPOILER** IF they dont add in the Weasley Pond, I will have a tantrum!

Posted by christianaeg Mar 5th 2007

AH! must... not... read....! why is the movie so short??? it's almost 900 pages!! it has to be 3 hours at least... i posted a petition for it to be longer on the 2nd archive...

Posted by Harryfan20 Mar 5th 2007

Holy cow, I wasn't expecting much from the movies, but wow. They left a ton out or changed quite a lot of it. The movies can never really compare to the books. This movie sounds terrible!

Posted by veep Mar 5th 2007

The reviewer left out an important detail concerning Cho 'telling': Cho is tricked into drinking Veritaserum -- she does not willingly betray the DA.

Posted by Ithilwen Mar 5th 2007

YAY a review from one of us. Well I think this is going to be great. They shouldn't have changed the prophecy though, or let anyone else hear it. I mean Voldie's not supposed to know! Still, the cuts they did make do make sense, and Cho being the traitor doesn't bother me too much. I guess Neville's parents aren't going to play a big role after all; otherwise they would have been left in. I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THE TWINS' EXIT! I can't wait! *twitch spaz drool* peace all ^^

Posted by Emmasj Mar 5th 2007

A bit extreme, Tony_the_Terrible, but I have to agree.

Posted by i_loverz_HP Mar 5th 2007

AHHHHHHH not very much draco im gonna cry so much........

Posted by Celebwen Mar 5th 2007

Don't you guys just love how the same thing goes through ALL of our minds: "I really shouldn't read this..." "But I really want to..." "It'll just disappoint me..." "But I reeeally want to..." "I should wait to actually see the movie, I don't want to spoil it..." "But I REALLY want to..." "I should exercise some self-restraint..." "Ah, skrewt it, I REALLY WANT TO!!! I'M READING THE DANG THING!!" And then you read it. And it gives you the biggest thrill... yet leaves you feeling empty inside. Why can't July come sooner?!?! Thanks for the great review!

Posted by keri_potter Mar 5th 2007

still cant wait to see it but im really upset about there not being a swamp. i was really looking forward to that part. and cho being the snitch thats kind of odd too. but over all the review sounded great and i cant wait to see it.

Posted by potterheadx04 Mar 5th 2007

sounds very good =)

Posted by iheartdobby Mar 5th 2007

ok, so, it is like beyond tempting to read teh reviews, i told myself like a million times that i will not read them at all. but that didnt work out. now i am suppppper excited for the movie, even though a lot seems to be missing, i believe it will still be amazing. these movies have yet to let me down.

Posted by thehillsx48 Mar 5th 2007

im extremely dissapointed

Posted by Tony_the_Terrible Mar 5th 2007

If there is no hospital scene, I wonder if that means they cut Mr. Weasley being attacked by Nagini. If they cut that, they may cut the Harry/Snake/Voldemort vision; heck, they may cut the whole Harry/Voldemort connection all together. Talk about a good way to ruin the rest of the series...

Posted by dec_rayne_127 Mar 5th 2007

Im just about ready to say forget the movies!!!!! The books are so much better.....i thnk that they should have stayed to the basics of the book..and deleted some of the non important stuff. Like in G.O.F they left out winkey who is supposed to play a major role in the 5th. Oh well im still excited i cnt help my self.lol

Posted by RuSirius Mar 5th 2007

ah i wish i never read it!! oh well! sounds great even though they changed it around a lot!

Posted by j4fun Mar 5th 2007

I'm really glad someone who's actually read and enjoys the series got a chance to critique it.

Posted by Jax_Draconia Mar 5th 2007

Thank you so much...this review is much better than the previous one. I'm not sure how I feel about those changes, though...

Posted by Tony_the_Terrible Mar 5th 2007

I guess WB feels as though they can make a cheaper, shorter movie and still make a ton of money by cashing in on the HP name. Who cares about the fans, its all about the $$.

Posted by performingmonkey Mar 5th 2007

I think the reason they're letting everyone hear the Prophecy is so everyone just accepts that Harry is the 'chosen one' in HBP. But I don't like the sound of them cutting out the 'thrice defied' thing. Does Dumbledore repeat the whole Prophecy in his office or does he bring up the image of Trelawney saying it or what? For those whining about Ginny and Draco hardly being in the movie, remember they'll have larger roles in HBP and the producers know this which is probably why they know they can cut them down here in favour of other elements. Luna and Neville are more important characters IMO and they hardly appear in the HBP book.

Posted by christianaeg Mar 5th 2007

Tony_the_Terrible: Yeah! !! lets have the movie longer! I wouldn't mind a 5 hour movie if it did justice to the book!!

Posted by i_loverz_HP Mar 5th 2007

EWWWWW harry and cho kissing thats gross i wish it was meh lol.

Posted by hpfan20 Mar 5th 2007

AHHHH!!! I wish I had more self-restraint!! lol! I wish they fit EVERYTHING into the film. Being a totally dedicated HP fan, I would watch it even if it lasted 9 hours =D

Posted by SandyDandy Mar 5th 2007

i am a little bit dissapointed. i love the hospital scene! it was like the one part i couldnt wait to see! i think it would simply be fascinating to see the hospital, lockhart, and Healers! no worries, i'm sure itll be a ripper movie!

Posted by ellenfreak3 Mar 5th 2007

THIS MOVIE IS RUINED!! Why can't they just stick to the book?!? I never understood. Yeah, they can get rid of the fluff stuff but why change stuff that they're putting IN?!? Like, Cho ratting on the DA wtf! And why wasn't all the words in the prophecy?!? That's SOOOOOOOOO incredibly important. It would have only taken a couple more seconds of film to add it in. And why couldn't anyone get hurt while they were fighting in the ministry?!? Remember, Hermione was suppose to almost DIE and Ron was suppose to almost die by being strangled to death by those brains! If they were to put that in the film it would be way more intense and it would have probably been PG13. but what's wrong with that?!? GOF was PG13. and that book was WAY less intense as book 5. Wow...Im' really upset. I AM, however, really really looking forward to Luna. i'm glad they stayed true to hre character....

Posted by Rubber_Ducky2 Mar 5th 2007

UGHH!! I can't believe they took out so much stuff thats like really important! I'm excited for the movie but why'd they have to change soo much? Like the prophecy? If it fell out of Lucius' hand, and all the kids heard it then Lucius and the other Death Eaters had to have heard it which means they can tell Voldemort and the whole thing is ruined, plus they changed it! How can you change the prophecy? I don't know I'm sure it will still be good, but I think they're going to realize that they made some HUGE mistakes once the seventh book comes out and they have left something out that ends up being really important, and so they can't fix it in the movies.

Posted by silverphoenix21 Mar 5th 2007

Is it possible that something can sound awesome and sucky at the same time? Because that's the kind of mixed feeling I'm getting form this review. Why the heck is Cho the informant for Umbridge? (Though I would love to see SNEAK written across her face, but I bet they cut that out) Also, what's the point of all the kids hearing the prophecy??? If the Death Eaters heard it then it would really bad, because Voldy's not supposed to hear the end of the prophecy!!! (And why did they cut out the "born in July" and "thrice defied" thing? Wouldn't it just make more sense to leave it in?)

Posted by dragons_melody Mar 5th 2007

man i am so MAD right now and it is supposed to be longer i think ill sign that petition , i wouldnt mind sitting on my butt for 5 hours either if it did the book and jk rowling justice

Posted by ronnie_lurves_hermy Mar 5th 2007

even though they did cut some mucho important stuff, i STILL CANT WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!! july is gonna be one heck of a month!!!

Posted by christianaeg Mar 5th 2007

For a longer movie i started a petition!!! (take the spaces out of the link)http://www.petitions pot.com/petitions/Harry_P otter_Order_of_Phoenix

Posted by Deana Mar 5th 2007

WHERE can I get tickets to one of these things?!!! Where have people gotten them in the past?

Posted by potterrocksmysocks Mar 5th 2007

WHAT?!?! draco is only in once?!?! that is seriously depressing news... and if the prophecy didn't talk about born in july thrice defided what did it talk about?

Posted by siriusblackhead Mar 5th 2007

Honestly people they have NOT ruined the books! Things like the swamp and the july part of the prophecy aren't even relevant. And i think its great that they made Cho the Snitch, it makes their break up more understandable, instead of the whole Cho-jealous-of-Hermione thing. I never really liked cho anyway. if you check out the review on the Leaky Cauldron, it is much more detailed and shows how they did NOT ruin the movie. In fact, i was surprised by how much they left in. and check out the comments, too. he's answering people's questions.

Posted by dragons_melody Mar 5th 2007

yea i know i love tom i mean he is in hbp a lot more but um what if they cut out alot of that 2 , that would suck

Posted by piratepottergrl7 Mar 5th 2007

OMG!!! Like all my favorite parts from the book have been eliminated!!! That book was so great and Sirius was my favorite character in the whole series his death should be dramatic and very meaningful. I hope they made it good enough to make me cry!!! (Not that that is really that hard I hysterical after Titanic and The Patriot and Spirit and...) I hope they didn't change it too too much!!! I love Sirius!!! (Too bad he's dead.) :-(

Posted by shany_wany2000 Mar 5th 2007

I almost feel a little disapointed now that ive read the reveiw... cuz it seems that all the parts that i was really excited to see in the film arnt going to be in it... plus i dont really know how the whole prophecy thing is gunna work out now that theyve changed it and all....

Posted by musichica_hpdevotion Mar 5th 2007

Sounds like a typical book to movie situation. You can't put everything in so you cut parts out and redo parts to make it all fit together better. I'm a little disappointed but my excitement outweighs the disappointment by about ten tons!
