I have to admit i am disappointed. I am disappointed they messed up the cho thing, and that they didnt do much about the battle. ANd Why did everyone hear the prophecy???? That is so stupid only harry dumbledore and ron and hermione are supposed to know the whole thing!

Posted by gandalfxj9 Mar 5th 2007

2 HOURS AND 30 MINUTES? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? RATED PG??? THIS IS THE DARKEST BOOK IT SHOULD BE PG 13!!! AND THEN THEN EVERYONE HEARS THE PROPHECY? GRRRR....HAVE THESE PEOPLE EVEN READ THE BOOK!!! DO THEY HAVE ANY CLUE AT ALL? AND WHY CAN'T THEY JUST STICK TO THE BOOK INSTEAD OF CHANGING EVERYTHING AROUND? LIKE IT WOULD HAVE BEEN THAT HARD TO ADD THE PENSEIVE....MY EXPECTATIONS FOR THE FILM HAVE DRASTICALLY GONE DOWN. I AM SO MAD NOW.......WE NEED CHRIS COLUMBUS BACK. SOMEONE THAT ACTUALLY KNOWS WHAT THERE DOING. OH AND THEN THEY TAKE OUT THE PREFECT SCEAN AND ST. MUGOS'...GOD....WHY DID THEY EVEN BOTHER MAKING THE FILM IN THE FIRST PLACE?

Posted by dragons_melody Mar 5th 2007

well on leaky cauldron they said when hes is in the movie he does well although i would like to see morer of him myself cuz he plays such a big role in hbp

Posted by Serinity Mar 5th 2007

er...ok. Some of the changes don't matter much (like the prefect thing), but others (like everyone hearing the prophesy) are dumb. I still can't wait till the movie though. but what about Tonks? the review didn't mention her! Is she still a metamorphmagus in the movie?

Posted by Hermione_Linden Mar 5th 2007

I was going to try to avoid spoilers, but I couldn't help reading this. I'm so upset about all the changes! It's going to be so annoying! Still, it sounds like the movie will be enjoyable overall...just not the parts where I'll feel like knocking some sense into the writers. I hate when they take parts of the book that they could EASILY do well in the movie, and then totally screw them up. Simple things like Dumbledore's slip of paper that Harry had to read for Grimmauld Place to appear. That would have been SO EASY! Moody with a stick? What the crap??? The worst thing might possibly be Cho telling and not her friend. Is that just because they're too lazy to hire someone to play that part? I think it's a horrible thing to do to Cho's character. Totally unfair.

Posted by gandalfxj9 Mar 5th 2007

grrr...sorry everyone...i just had to get that out. This is the reason fans hate the hp films, anyways i made this petition to keep Ootp long http://www.petitionspot.c om/petitions/Harry_Potter _Order_of_Phoenix please sign it, its already got 450 signatures!!!

I am so utterly dissapointed. I know the movie is going to look cool, but most of us want to see Harry Potter magic not stupid Hollywood magic. I think you did a good review. I know I should expect the same kind of disappointment I felt in GOF. I suppose they want to make it exciting for retards who haven't read the books. What's with Mad-Eye hitting the wall with his stick instead of Harry reading from the bit of paper. I suppose they thought people wouldn't get it. I don't like them cutting out the hospital scene with Neville's parents. That was very touching. Plus, in reality Neville would have never told Harry if Harry hadn't seen it.

Posted by gandalfxj9 Mar 5th 2007

amen to that lightmyfag....the whole movie is in ruines. i'm just so mad at the moment i could rant for 3 years.....

Posted by Nameless Mar 5th 2007

I'm really looking forward to OOTP...it's a good one, I can feel it in my bones. I like this person's review better than the other one, because this person read the book and can tell us a little more.

Posted by Hermy_Own6 Mar 5th 2007

They definitely distort the movies WAY too much. I highly prefer the books. But I'm gonna go see the movie anyway!!!

Posted by winklerffa Mar 5th 2007

I am very disappointed that they cut major parts out of the movie. :(

Posted by mjd1905 Mar 5th 2007

Under normal conditions I stay off comments and such things but feel I need to draw attention to the fact that W.B. is starting to kill the films. Please someone with ties to JKR please have her stop the butcherings of the films. From what I have read in the above review things are getting out of hand on the making of the films by straying so far from the books its beginning to become unenjoyable. It really started with the absent of Winky from the 4 book and carried throughout GOF. Even though the movie was still good, it strayed farther then I think was needed. Now from the above review its seems that the straying is getting even worst. I hope JKR starts saying something about it, or I feel that I wont enjoy the movies anymore, and would have to return to my own thoughts of the wrold of Harry Potter.

Posted by lillink1222 Mar 5th 2007

I really think that anybody who is scared of the movie being crap should read the review over at The leaky cauldron. it has a much more positive outlook of the film. Anyways, I have to say that I can't wait!

Posted by marauderingly Mar 5th 2007

First they mess up Snape's Worst Memory, and now they're screwing around with the battle scene (not to mention Sirius's death)? *sobs* I hate you, Warner Brothers!!!

Posted by Jadore_Bella Mar 5th 2007

I hate this movie already.

Posted by Clean0002 Mar 5th 2007

Look, they have to change certain things to make the movies work. The first Two movies were so close to the books because they weren't that long but now the movies are based on books that are very long which means a lot has to be covered in a short amount of time. The only way to fix this is to change certain things like not having the character of Mundungus or having Cho be the Snitch, even though she didn't mean to because she was forced to drink veritasirum which wasn't mentioned in the review. They also have to shorten things like making the Prophecy being heard at the Department of Mysteries. There is another review on The Laky Cauldron website and the reviewer shares that the most important parts of the movie are present and the movie is actually pretty faithful to the book. I wouldn't worry about it. We all just need to accept the fact that The books and movies are two seperate things and they have to change things to make everything fit within the time constraints.

Posted by Tinurix Mar 5th 2007

It really actually sounds a little disappointing to me, but we'll see. I'm kinda sad that they couldn't get Cleese to reprise his role as Nearly Headless Nick for that whole ghost...explaination..thi ng.): Wonderful review, though. < 3 It's always so much better to hear about it from a fan rather than a proffesional who hasn't read the books.

Posted by BookWorm1221 Mar 5th 2007

I'm immensly disappointed in what I have read. Especially regarding the prophecy, that's just pathetic that they can't stick to even that minor of a major detail. I mean, only Harry and Dumbledore are supposed to hear the prophecy. And it doesn't even sound like they stuck to the exact text of the prophecy. I mean, come on! How hard of a detail is that to stick to?? JK Rowling has written it out for them in the plainest terms possible. It's just like in the third movie how they changed the prophecy Trelawny has. I feel that Warner Bros. is no longer concerned with making a good movie that will adequately please the audience by staying true to the book because they just want to make their millions of dollars, top the box offices, and go about their merry way. I was absolutely ecstatic about the book seeing as it's one of my favorites-POA aside-but now I'm almost dreading walking into the theatre to see them possibly slaughter what is, in my opinion, one of the best books of the series.

Posted by nsnoekums Mar 5th 2007

OOOOHHHHHHH! I can't wait!!!!!! You realize that a watched pot never boils, just like when you really want something to hurry up and get here, time goes reallllllllly slow. I want it now (whining)!

Posted by marauderingly Mar 5th 2007

Clean0002, I think people realize that some things have to be changed, but other things (such as that whole crappy, reworked prophecy scene) are completely unnecessary and THAT is what pisses people off.

Posted by skates Mar 5th 2007

Oh I couldn't help it I read it lol! thank you so much! darn, I wish I could of seen it....oh well, moving along. At least now I won't be expecting alot of the awesome little details of the book, although it was my favorite. So glad to hear about the SMOOCH! I was hoping they would make it a full "make out" scene, oh gosh I'm so glad! From this review though I wish they would've made the last prophecy scens kind of mysterious and scary, I don't like it that the entire DA heard because that's what makes the prophecy so special, that Dumbledore and Harry are the only ones that know its intire contents/ Anyway, glad the DA and Ministery were impressive! Oh god, I'm so siked! Can't wait to see it!

Posted by BkHarryPotterGrl Mar 5th 2007

thank GOD that somebody who actually knows about Harry Potter sent in a review! the other one was just stupid. I cant BELIEVE that they messed the whole Cho thing up, and what bothers me most is that EVERYBODY heard the prophecy!! that completely messes EVERYTHING up about the whole 'chosen one' thing in HBP and how everyone speculates about whether he is indeed the chosen one... and the only people who knew that contents of the prophecy were supposed to be the trio and Dumbledore. And why do they keep changing the contents of the prophecy? they did that in the POA movie too. and i hate that they didn't explain Sirius' death... why do they always do that? they did that with Barty Crouch last time too... o welll.... it still sounds like a really good movie and I CAN'T WAIT!!!

Posted by Clean0002 Mar 5th 2007

Marauderingly2, are you talking about the fact that they left out the beginning part of the prophecy? If you are then I agree on this point, I don't know why they would take this out, that doesn't make sense at all. Ohter than that, I guess I don't mind that Ron, Hermoine, Ginny, Neville, and Luna all hear it. They aren't going to tell anyone.

Posted by Wierdgirl5834 Mar 5th 2007

NOOO! It's ruined! I was having high expectation! CHO TATTLEd?! WHAT'S UP WITH THAT?! ANd no centaur of firenzE? no draco?! BOOOO!

Posted by marauderingly Mar 5th 2007

Clean0002, that is exactly what I am talking about. I just don't understand why the producers felt the need to remove those lines; it was completely pointless. I'm also angry about everyone hearing about the prophecy. From what the reviewer said, it sounds like EVERYONE (including the Death Eaters) heard it - how couldn't they, if it was smashed in Lucius's hands? That wasn't just a minor change, it is also going to affect the plots of movies 6 & 7.

Posted by Ginnys_so_lucky Mar 5th 2007

thats kinda upseting is the whole thing where they punch draco in there becasue i really wanted to see that on film some of that im not happy with mann like the prophecy being herd and them changing it thats stupid i think i think it will still be a good movie but i wish some things stayed the same and i dont think it should have been cho who told thats just not cool it should have been the way it was grrrrr

Posted by Clean0002 Mar 5th 2007

Marauderingly2, I got the impression only those 6 heard it but if all the Death Eaters hear it then that is a major problem but if Lucius only hears it out of the Death Eaters, maybe it won't be a big deal because he is carted off to prison which means he can't tell Voldemort what the Prophecy says. Of course this just makes everything a lot more complicated than it has to or should be.

Posted by gandalfxj9 Mar 5th 2007

If you guys are a little dissapointed go over to TLC comment section....it clears a lot of things up....

Posted by harrypworshiper Mar 5th 2007

I'm actually quite disappointed because Cho tattled, which is completely off from the book. In fact, I think that it should have been her friend and she was more apathetic. And the fact that it was a "MAKE OUT session" is rather disappointing because one can see how easily Hollywood romanticizes everything. Given the time constraint and all, I understand why it would be so hard to be faithful to the book, but they had better not messed up the part when Harry reacts to Sirius's death, because it is one of the most emotional parts of the whole entire series. Anyways, a very good review. much, much better than the first one. I'm soooooo jealous that you got to see the preview showing!

Posted by MelanieV Mar 5th 2007

I'm just wondering why JKR lets the screenwriter stray so far from her original story? Doesn't she have any say whatsoever?? This sounds messed up - I understand some things have to be trimmed, but why not get the things you leave in correct? This is only going to cause confusion later on!

Posted by marauderingly Mar 5th 2007

Clean0002, that's what I'm saying. I don't know, I kind of feel like this movie isn't going to meet a lot of people's expectations (mine included). Someone really needs to make BBC-type film adaptations of the books. Those are the only kind that would actually work, IMO.

Posted by Kamion Mar 5th 2007

being a great Draco fan I probably gonna stamp out of the cinema very pissed, when the trend mentioned sets on he will not even be in HBP and Dumblodre just trips over his beard and fals from the tower. They seem to have manage to deviate even more from the canon then before. And that makes it harder to enjoy the movie for what it is; nl just a piece of entertainment based on a rather popular book.

Posted by danlova4eva Mar 5th 2007

OMG MAKE OUT SESSION!!!! WOOOOO HOOOO! I CANT WAIT FOR THIS SUMMER! CHO IS SOOOOO FREAKIN LUCKY! SHE GETS TO KISS DAN!!!!WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO !!!!!!!!1 HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!1 but i am also a little dissapointed. they left out many essentail parts to the plot. such as the death eater attacks. and changing the prophecy, that just totally messes up the whole plot and series! and wat about weasly is out king? no quidditch?!! and no malfoy?!!?! that how harry fred and george get banned from quiddtich for life and they just switched around the whole course of harry and cho breaking up! where did marietta go?!!? this plot is just rele bad bt i still cant wait til this summer!!!

Posted by HPPhoenix07 Mar 5th 2007

I don't know what to say about it. There are honestly some things that I don't mind them chaging and usually I like to think that I understand reasonably well that they HAVE to make changes because of time, but there's a difference between cutting something out and leaving it but making it completly differenet within the movie. I know that come July, I'll be much more excited than I sound right now and I'll be jumping up and down waiting for the movie, but I think I might just be a little disappointed, especially because the movie doesn't sound to be as dark and emo-ish as the book was.

Posted by rawrness Mar 5th 2007

ouch! it really sucks that they don't add in the whole ron/hermione prefect thing. one of my favourite parts in the books is when Molly says "I don't believe it! Oh, Ron, how wonderful! A prefect! That's everyone in the family!" and George says "What are Fred and I, next-door neighbours?" I thought it was hilarous. aww man. *sad*

Posted by snapebaby27 Mar 5th 2007

Super exciting! It sucks that they changed the prophecy... It would take only a minute or two to say the entire thing. I know they have to cut stuff but come on. It would be nice for it to me 3 hrs but then they wouldn't be able to run it in IMAX... anything over about 2:45 and it wouldn't fit on the platters (my husband is an IMAX technician). Soooo glad they didn't cut out the twins and their big break. It has to be one of my fav moments from all the books.

Posted by deathcabforcutie Mar 5th 2007

what the heck, everyone heard the prophecy?? what!! and the cho thing, GOSH what is their problem

Posted by Quidditchgirl24 Mar 5th 2007

I never gave these movies any hope at all. To me it sound like they cut A LOT of stuff out to get the pg-13 rating. I understand that they can not leave EVERY little thing in. But for once please DON'T SCREW UP THE ENDING!!!!!! Of course, they did. What about Bellatrix was she good. If you didn't read the books do even give a crap what happens the Sirius Black.

Posted by elizabeth117 Mar 5th 2007

UGH. i totally read the review ( i couldnt resist) and not to spolil anything-- but is anyone else ticked off about cho and the veil? if they dont explain the veil properly and we end up with another thing like the marauders map and priori incantaem--- ill be ticked even more! in spite of that-- im still really excited

Posted by Desolate_bliss Mar 5th 2007

Ooh, I can't believe there isn't a lot of Draco!! I *LOVE* To look at him! And listen to him... and look at him..... *sob* They better have him play a big part in HBP... You know, with the whole him-bein -really-important-to-the- story-line thing. Other than that.... I'm still really excited... I just... how can they make it less serious? OOTP was like, the CHANGE in Harry, it's, I think, the most important book in the series, so far, in the sense of Harry finally figuring things out.... And they made it less serious?

Posted by mysterywoman Mar 5th 2007

Excitement AND Dissapointment. No prefects , quidditch, hardly any Draco.Oh well , im still excited!

Posted by ConCon Mar 5th 2007

can....not.....resist.... ....much.............long er!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! k good review. some stuff im a bit nervous about, but im sure itll still be good (nothing like the book, but ok) what about a make-out session? haha.

Posted by chillcat Mar 5th 2007

*shrieks mentally as she desperately attempts not to look at the reviews...*

Posted by adorkableredhead Mar 5th 2007

i probably shouldn't have read that. but temptation was too great. except, now i'm disappointed. the one scene i was looking forward to the most isn't even to be. how can they not have the neville hospital scene? it's outrageous i tell you, outrageous!

Posted by shayla Mar 5th 2007

I read it but I know regret it anyways whats up with cutting the ggod things like lupin in the advanced guarde and bad battle good riddance. If its anything like the way they did the 4th are be extremely dissapointed the 4th was pretty bad.

Posted by dragons_melody Mar 5th 2007

do u no what i hate that the battle doesnt sound that great i mean i believe they r still filming but dang people PG , gof was PG 13 but we dont want to scare the kids now do we , i can understand that wb ( NOT) and GOF wasnt that bad but what ev

Posted by siriusly_in_love9 Mar 5th 2007

OMG i would rather see them make it RATED R than cut the fight scene down to a wimpy battle where noone gets hurt. this was the darkest most angst-ridden book so the movie should follow suit

Posted by dragons_melody Mar 5th 2007

i agree im still very angry about draco ( tom) cuz hes my fav and its not fair (pout)

Posted by xano Mar 5th 2007

I loved the review. Althought some of the things they left out is a dissapointment, I still am really excited for the movie though!

Posted by branwall Mar 5th 2007

Disappointed, but pleased to hear the review.... still can't wait to see the movie!!!
