Support JK in her eBay lawsuit
Support JK in her eBay lawsuit As we reported previously, JK Rowling is suing eBay for allowing illegal and fraudulent copies of her works to be sold on the auction site. Jo has managed to obtain an injunction which prevents eBay from listing illegal copies (namely e-versions of her books), which is binding until a May 23rd hearing.

Not only is Jo losing out from the auctioning of illegal books, but fans are being hoodwinked and wasting their money.

Marjorie, webmistress of the MuggleNet-affiliated collectors' advice site JKR's Army, contacted Neil Blair (Jo's lawyer) asking how fans can lend their support. Marjorie has set up a petition, which we strongly encourage you all to sign. We will soon have more ways you can help, but for now, visit this page for additional info.

Posted by TheMuggleFromAnywhere Mar 9th 2007

Go Jo! i'l sign the petition. people should not be cheated out of illegal copies of her books.

Posted by Glitterbug Mar 9th 2007

People are so cheap. Just buy the book! I'm signing :)

Posted by wargrave Mar 9th 2007

I'm glad somethings being done about the ebay thing...copy right laws are made for a reason--i really dont think ebay should be blammed though, there are always going to be people who take advantage of a good thing

Posted by EowynRowena Mar 9th 2007

just signed. this is a drop of water on the hot stone of illegal activities on ebay, but you need to start somewhere, don't you think? besides, jo deserves our support in things like this for all that she's given to us!

Posted by Helene Mar 9th 2007

You have my support, Jo! Off to sign the petition now!

Posted by circa_rigel Mar 9th 2007

Signed the petition. I support JKR 100%. It's the right thing to do... keeping her fans from being cheated and swindled on eBay!

Posted by flyersun Mar 9th 2007

Not many people signed it yet but I can't wait to see how many people sign it now. Everyone who goes on this site probably will. Go Jo!

Posted by AGUADALUPITA Mar 9th 2007

I was 198th person in signing. More people should go sign that.

Posted by Madmoggie Mar 9th 2007

go jk!

Posted by dracodragon Mar 9th 2007

Just signed. Number 246.

Posted by Six_shot_wand Mar 9th 2007

I support jo. Its not cool for people to be buying fake books, but, i think it should be the seller's fault and not ebay. How is ebay going to know what is fake and what isn't.

Posted by AGUADALUPITA Mar 9th 2007

346 signatures now. That's almost 150 in 10 minutes.

Posted by jess_1818 Mar 9th 2007

ill helpout!

Posted by Quiscalus Mar 9th 2007

I'm so signing!!! Go Jo!!!

Posted by dracodragon Mar 9th 2007

Everyone in the world knows that book 7 isn't out yet. If they're auctioning the book, then DUH!

Posted by Dormanthegr8 Mar 9th 2007

I definitely signed. eBay is lame for not ousting their shady sellers.

Posted by otto Mar 9th 2007

That petition will accomplish nothing. And Jo needs to go after the individuals selling pirated copies, not ebay. They'll just sell them somewhere else.

Posted by wargrave Mar 9th 2007

by the way, i also signed ^_^ didnt want my last post to make it seem like i thought the petition was useless--GO JKR!

Posted by snapeward777 Mar 9th 2007

Posted by TheMuggleFromAnywhere Mar 9th 2007

hey! my moms making me ask my dad 2! isn't that weird!

Posted by TheMuggleFromAnywhere Mar 9th 2007

almost a thousand signitures!!!!

Posted by Six_shot_wand Mar 9th 2007

Dear snapeward777: It is horrible for those people out there buying the fake books, but unfortunatly this probably wont do anything, and like somebody else posted, the sellers will just go somewhere else to sell them. Thats why they need to go after the sellers, too stop this crap!!

Posted by hermownninny88 Mar 9th 2007

Whoot. GO JO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by tat Mar 9th 2007

I don't care if my signature means nothing, or if the petition is useless. I've signed it, and that makes me feel like I've at least done something to help Jo. I hope it actually does help her, but if it doesn't, I'm sure she'll appreciate our effort.

Posted by JEngle1122 Mar 9th 2007

There have been huge problems in eBay in other areas also, such as audio production electronics, where counterfiet items have sold for thousands of dollars when they are really worthless. If ANYONE has the credibility and financial power to take on eBay, it's JKR. I hope she wins... maybe eBay will shape up all of their practices. -Jessica

Posted by Dominogameboy Mar 9th 2007

I just signed! It's awesome to look at all the names that have signed the petition. I sat there for 15 minutes just hitting the refresh button on my browser, and everytime I did at least 5 new signatures were there. We are well on our way to stopping the piracy of eBay!!!

Posted by Six_shot_wand Mar 9th 2007

Now its up to 1800 Signatures and climbing

Posted by scribbulus Mar 9th 2007

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for JK beating Ebay fraud but she DOESN'T have an injunction according to Ebay. Who are we meant to believe? Why does she need a petition signed by fans if she's already taking them to court?

Posted by Dragon_queen4ever Mar 9th 2007

Personally, while six_shot_wand is probably right 'bout sellers going elsewhere, its porbably best to make sure there not in places like e-bay and stuff...yeah...I signed the petitiion.

Posted by luv_hp_4ever Mar 9th 2007

o yeah im totally gonna sign it!!!! shes completely right... like always...!!!

Posted by Princess_Sparkle Mar 9th 2007

Wow, news of this petition is spreading like wildfire. In the short amount of time it took me to "approve my signature" 5 more signatures were added to the petition, bumping me down from 1755 to 1760. It's amazing how many people genuinely want to support JKR.

Posted by Luna_sees_thestrals Mar 9th 2007

there's over 2000 now.

Posted by luv_hp_4ever Mar 9th 2007

ha i was number 2009 to sign and that was like 3 minutes ago and now there is 2178... crazy!!!!!

Posted by scribbulus Mar 9th 2007

I hope JK releases an official statement about this soon. Ebay are denying her claims, but it seems her lawyers are still claiming she has the injunction. No clue what to believe. http://www.sc ribbulus.says.it

Posted by Witchy_Woman Mar 9th 2007

That icon is cute. There are a LOT of names on that petition. Well, I'm almost off to London now. Maybe I'll see Jo and ask her about it. (Scotland residence disregarded).

Posted by sticky Mar 9th 2007
