Earlier today, the Guinness Book of World Records tweeted an image from the upcoming 2014 edition of the famous record book, revealing that Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 landed a spot in the book for widest opening of a 3D film and highest opening-day box office gross. Here's an transcription of the text that can be seen in the image:
On it's openining weekend, 15-17 July 2011, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 (USA, 2011) was released on 4,375 screens in the USA and on a further 17,000 worldwide. It also achieved the highest opening-day box-office gross, taking $91,071,119 (60,510,400 pounds) in the USA alone.
This is far from the first time the boy wizard has appeared in an edition of Guinness! In the past, Harry Potter has set world records for fastest selling DVD ever in 2006, largest 3D digital cinema projection in 2011, and first billionaire author, among others.
