Follow-up: A letter from Jo
Yesterday, we posted a letter a MuggleNet visitor had received from JK Rowling. The letter contained numerous bits of information concerning rumors and the title of Book 7. JK Rowling's agent confirmed for us that the letter was genuine, but they requested that we take it down to maintain the privacy of its contents.

We thank Ryan for providing us with the letter, and we apologize that we could not release it.

doesn't it sound like she's just commenting on his theories or is the blurred bit the spoiler bit? Im not sure...

Posted by AnyaMarcos May 18th 2006

The blurred bit is Jo talking to him about his OMG!AWFUL! life.

Posted by Nat May 18th 2006

You learn new things about yourself every day huh, Ionut? I would like to point out that the news post doesn't say who asked them to take it down, just that they were asked to take it down for privacy reasons. I don't think it had anything really important in it to begin with. It was just a cool little thing that got put up on Mugglenet.

Posted by AnyaMarcos May 18th 2006

colourmeconfused, you didn't say anything wrong. Look at this line from harrypottergirl0106: "she has never gived out early information before" Gived? Please. Clearly you're not dealing with a sharp one there. Don't sweat over it. And speaking of the murder of the English language, someone please get me some of what scottw is having. Did anyone really think that JKR would give out information about Book Seven to someone privately?

Posted by reflir May 18th 2006

"Did anyone really think that JKR would give out information about Book Seven to someone privately?" Only if you have cancer and will be dead before the series finishes ;) (like that girl that got a spot in book 4)

Posted by Frosch May 18th 2006

You know, it's bull... to post this when you're not going to tell anything for whatever reasons. It just makes my overly curious and truth-obsessed self absolutely furious. Sorry.

Posted by katiemay May 18th 2006

So i suppose im the only one shocked that she told him about...such things? and im the only one who regrets reading the letter, and knowing, like, everything about bk 7 now? I feel awful, i need to buy some self control...

Posted by AnyaMarcos May 18th 2006

Katiemay, you didn't read the letter. If you had, you would know that Jo said NOTHING of consequence in it.

Posted by katiemay May 18th 2006

She said about the horcrux thing and about dumbledore, in the first line, have u read it?

Posted by fantasiize May 18th 2006

I totally understand how the letter should be left personal. I think it's better if it's not shown due to the fact we all thrive on the mystery and theories of book 7. It'd be boring and stupid to know what happened before we actually read the book.

Posted by Ninotsjka May 18th 2006

I read it and it only said that JKR thinks she has the title for book seven, but she isn't going to tell us what it is. There was one other small thing in there I think. I just can't remember what it was though.

Posted by katiemay May 18th 2006

Wait, maybe what i read was only speculation? At the link Katiebell posted on the previous page, it said that? Someone read it and tell me if she did in fact say the things about Dumbledore and horcruxes and dying that i read. Please? Because u all are acting like, at the link Katiebell posted, she said nothing...

Posted by ladyofemynarnen May 18th 2006

Aww ... thank you to katiebell & hpcrazy for posting links. I have it saved on my computer now ... muhahahaha. =)

Posted by arther7 May 18th 2006

I wish that we could see that letter. I also wish that Jo would tell us the title of the seventh book and how many chapters it has so far!

Posted by silverlala May 18th 2006

He gave theories on what he thought would happen in book 7 she said something along the lines about the theories 'I'm not laughing'. If she didn't want that info about maybe having a title for book 7, or anything in that matter why write it? But it's like other fans who get a letter from a celeb, you see those letters....oh well...it's over with and she'll tell us when something comes up. Thanks though Ryan for the read...

Posted by BrianaBird May 18th 2006

sooo... does that mean that the letter contained the title of Book 7 or just rumors about it? I don't get the whole privacy thing, either. I mean, it would just save us a lot of time writing to her and just seeing something someone would have to wast 5 seconds folding the paper up, licking the envelope, putting a stamp on, and putting it in the mail. I just don't get it.

Posted by RyAn2006 May 18th 2006

Ryan here. I must say im pleased that MN confirmed it is legit that should silence all those who tjhought i was some attention seeking idiot with nothing better to do! thanks! I sent the letter in thinking it would be of interest instead i got attacked! cheers! Im dissapointed its down becuase of 'pressure' from outside! Very umbridgey isnt it. the powers above us have prevented the freedom of information. Jo knew i woud share the relevant info with fellow fans and im disapointed that she hasnt been asked if it sok to share the parts of the letter i have. shame.

Posted by proud2bus May 18th 2006

Man i don't care if they released it or not.... its still totally cool that a mugglenet reader got a letter from Jo.

Posted by Eimear May 18th 2006

Hey Ryan, you are so lucky!! I mean, like, how many people from Mugglenet alone have written letters to JK and all any of us got back was that auto-letter thing with 'dear friend' instead of your name on it. Go you!!

Posted by AnyaMarcos May 18th 2006

Wow, it took a lot longer than I thought it would for "Ryan" to turn up.

Posted by Eimear May 18th 2006

AnyaMarcos - can you say something nice about someone for a change??

Posted by AnyaMarcos May 18th 2006

katiemay said: "She said about the horcrux thing and about dumbledore, in the first line, have u read it?" Yes, I read it. Everything you mentioned was Ryan's part of the letter, not Jo's. Most people got that, in fact I think you're the only one I've seen who didn't. Learn to read things more carefully.

Posted by Kate_Lynne May 18th 2006

That's too bad. I was going to save it just in case something like this happened, but I said, "Nah, it can wait for tomorrow." Dang. I never even got to read it. Oh well, I'm sure it was for the best.

Posted by AnyaMarcos May 18th 2006

Eimear, sure I can. Ryan is lucky to have gotten the letter.

Posted by Eimear May 18th 2006

Good man.

Posted by flik258 May 18th 2006

can someone send me what she wrote? flik258@yahoo.com

Posted by that_kid_next_to_the_other_kid21k May 18th 2006

OMG!!!!! I HAV 2 GET MY HANDS ON THAT LETTER!!!! IF ONLY SHE'D SENT IT TO ME (RYAN) INSTEAD OF OTHER RYAN! DARN!

Posted by AnyaMarcos May 18th 2006

Hlt crap, foks, read the comments. Links to the letter and to the bits blurred out of the JPG file have already been posted.

Posted by Inferi596 May 18th 2006

wait... the letter actually included the title of book 7??? was that the blocked out part? the part i read she only said she'd decided on one! i doubt she actually gave away the name but that's how this post is worded...

Posted by that_kid_next_to_the_other_kid21k May 18th 2006

K... can sum1 please send me the contense as well (good idea flik258) thatkidnexttotheotherkid21k@mugglenet.com Cheers if u do... and damn ye if u don't

Posted by amadeus May 18th 2006

can someone clear up the confusion????????!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by orcaboy321 May 18th 2006

Hey sidiel, did it occur to you that she had sent the letter to RYAN not to the public, but Ryan chose to publicise it.

Posted by Jevitt May 18th 2006

No, the title of Book 7 was not in the letter because it said: "As for the title of Book 7, I can't tell you, but I think I've finially come up with one." Personally, I think a good title would be "Harry Potter and the Quest for the Horcruxes".

Posted by Eimear May 18th 2006

Ok- some fella named Ryan wrote to JK and outlined the following theories: Harry is a Horcrux. RAB is Regulus Black. Dumbledore is not dead. Snape is good. Harry will succeed in destroying the remaining horcruxes but will be faced with a dilemma when he learns that he himself is one. Harry will be killed by Voldermort who will believe he has won, but then Neville Longbottom will step forward and finish the Dark Lord off once and for all. She replied: As for your theories, I'm certainly not laughing. Book seven: can't tell you the title (you didn't really expect it, did you?!) but I think I've finally got one. It could have been called a lot of things, you see. Mow mugglenet have been asked to take it the letter down due to privacy reasons. Got that everyone?

Posted by Jo_H May 18th 2006

Is there any point in this news post if there's no letter to read? All it seems to be doing is annoying a load of people

Posted by DaliGirl May 18th 2006

I didnt see any links to the blurred out stuff...did I miss something? Do you all really think that Harry's going to die? Or do you think that Neville will come up with some herb potion thing to get rid of Harry's scar and that that will kill Voldemort?

Posted by kithlyn May 18th 2006

I wish I had gotten to see the letter before they took it down! *goes and pouts in the corner*

Posted by ginny_weasley May 18th 2006

DAMN!!! Why on earth had the letter to be removed? i dont think the letter had any such information. fortunately i had saved it on my computer!

Posted by MissKaye May 18th 2006

Eimear, haha you definately made me laugh sooo hard. i was actually going to put that up after ive been reading these comments. I saw the letter as well & i can confirm that everything Eimear said is word for word correct. I know everyone is so excited but we all need to just breath. calm down & do something else to pass your time for the info of book 7. Everyone else as well as i want to know but we have to just relax and be patient.

Posted by Mat May 18th 2006

darn, i missed it, thatd would've been interesting to see

Posted by DaliGirl May 18th 2006

Patience is certainly NOT my strong point...

Posted by dumbles May 18th 2006

WHAA so not fair! way to tease us. release! release!

Posted by SiriusGirl May 18th 2006

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO we don't get to see it?! Anyway, why would Jo only tell ONE PERSON a whole bunch of facts? Why did she even tell him?! WHY NOT ME?! On a happier note, I've also gotten a letter from her; but it was years ago, and it didn't have any info. It was a reply to a Daily Prophet my friends and I made... I'm not lying! HONEST!

Posted by veelagirl May 18th 2006

*sigh* Well, thanks for letting us know about the letter anyway.....

Posted by loonz May 18th 2006

i remember that the private content was blurred out...but w.e. i already read it yesterday anywayz...all she sed was that book 7 title was ALMOST coming and that the theories ryan mentioned to her about RAB bein regalus black, dumbledore is not dead, and harry is a horcrux were not laughable theories....thats all

Posted by MM9109 May 18th 2006

WHY NO RELEASE? WE WANT TO KNOW TOO.

Posted by Yossarian May 18th 2006

I was under the impression that if the letter was one written by a visitor to the site, and it is his letter, he should be able to have it posted if he wants it to be. I dont think they have a say, but I might be wrong.....

Posted by Potterfanatic May 18th 2006

No big deal although if ryan said it was ok for mugglenet to have the letter than why should jk's agent order it down its his choice not theirs

Posted by jay4034 May 18th 2006

i just dont understand why this is a news post. although am i a little curious about the letters contents. oh well

Posted by Celestina May 18th 2006

Can you people not read?? She did not give him any new information! The only thing she said was that she already has the title for the next book. OMG big shocker! What an exclusive! not.
