Follow-up: A letter from Jo
Yesterday, we posted a letter a MuggleNet visitor had received from JK Rowling. The letter contained numerous bits of information concerning rumors and the title of Book 7. JK Rowling's agent confirmed for us that the letter was genuine, but they requested that we take it down to maintain the privacy of its contents.

We thank Ryan for providing us with the letter, and we apologize that we could not release it.

This is what the letter contained. so that those of you who are still freaking out about the letter can see. Many people who saw the letter or who have the link can confirm this: "Ryan wrote to JK and outlined the following theories: Harry is a Horcrux. RAB is Regulus Black. Dumbledore is not dead. Snape is good. Harry will succeed in destroying the remaining horcruxes but will be faced with a dilemma when he learns that he himself is one. Harry will be killed by Voldermort who will believe he has won, but then Neville Longbottom will step forward and finish the Dark Lord off once and for all. She replied: As for your theories, I'm certainly not laughing. Book seven: can't tell you the title (you didn't really expect it, did you?!) but I think I've finally got one. It could have been called a lot of things, you see. Mow mugglenet have been asked to take it the letter down due to privacy reasons." Hope everyone got that. now give it a few minutes, and let it soak in. They took the letter out so that no one (like people have been doing already) would twist his & her words to make it something else. Like she already has the title but she only told ryan & not her. THATS NOT TRUE. once again: "Book seven: can't tell you the title (you didn't really expect it, did you?!) but I think I've finally got one. It could have been called a lot of things, you see." thats what she said. This is all im going to say on the matter. Itll be pretty sad if people after reading alot of post like mine are still running around like chickens without heads.

It was genuine?! Wow, that's awesome! I wish I could read it.

Posted by SiriusGirl May 18th 2006

THANK YOU MissKaye! That rocked! Maybe Harry IS a horcrux, maybe he WILL face that dilemma... Well, whatever, as long as Ron and Hermione get together in the end.

Posted by geonub May 18th 2006

The best part of the letter was Jo's encouragement, and that due to Ryan he has personally facilitated more of Book 7. My everlasting thanks to Ryan for sending the paper.

Posted by asia_canada May 18th 2006

i think everyone's read it by now.... n she didn't really say much, except that she thinks she might have a title n she's not laughin at his theories... that doesn't say much... n if she said it 2 one fan i'm sure she won't care if the rest know it 2... ah well... 2 each their own

Geez, I've never seen so many dense people before. It's disheartening. GROW UP! It was a PERSONAL letter guys, that's why it was taken down. P.E.R.S.O.N.A.L. There's a common courtesy that you just don't share your letters with those not involved... just like you don't share the contents of a personal conversation to everyone (maybe most of you do; in that case I fear for your friends). This is why the letter was taken down. It did not give any secrets. JKR didn't shoot down his theories. She doesn't ever shoot down theories unless she considers them completely absurd. Not to mention she said she "wasn't laughing," which implies that he said "you're probably going to laugh at this." Clearly she's not going to shoot him down and make him feel bad (ie. "hahaha, that was the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard!"). Come on guys. Really? Ok. Just my (long) 2 cents.

All i can say is NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! *crys helplessly in a coner*

Posted by confused May 18th 2006

i saw that letter.. but there wasn't much that was revealed

Posted by proud2bus May 18th 2006

People just calm down, it was nothing new. It was just a cool b/c a harry potter fan got a personal letter from Jo. As for why it was taken down, that was probably jo's agent or something. I dunno anything about that, but does it really matter?

Posted by Shaun05 May 18th 2006

Well cut off my ear and call me trevor, I was wrong! Ah well you win some you loose some I guess. I spose this means we'll have a title soon... YAY!!!!!!

Posted by togo123 May 18th 2006

PoSt tHE LeTtEr! NoW!

Posted by Celebwen May 18th 2006

Frankly, that's okay with me. I already got to read it this morning, and the part that was blurred out was provided in the comments by someone who had read it before it was blurred out. Apparently it was about the theories he had talked about in his letter. I would LOVE to get a letter from Jo!! It would pretty much be the highlight of my life.

Posted by ah14ofia May 18th 2006

NOT COOL. i'm going to have an anxiety attack over this till they can post it. agreeing with Shaun05 , at least we'll have a title soon!

Posted by Tigerlili_08 May 18th 2006

Well I checked mugglenet late last night and saw the letter. It was pretty cool, all official & everything. But I guess Andrew had to take it down for privacy purposes. But at least it was thoughtful of Ryan to want share it with all of us. :) Dont worry guys, JKR didn't give away the book title.

Posted by ssammy_me May 18th 2006

ok...people please stop complaining about the fact that the letter has been taken down because the link still works and if you would only copy/paste it you would get to see it too...now...it doesn't give any real information and i still don't get why they asked to take it down since the only thing jo is clear about is that his theories are not absurd and that she has come up with a title...of course we all want to know as much about book seven as we can but we won't find anything out by atacking jo or ryan for that matter...let's just wait and see...

Posted by scurvy_cur May 18th 2006

well i saw it this morning so i guess i was lucky!

Posted by HPfreak May 18th 2006

aww... to bad...

Posted by Shaun05 May 18th 2006

Oh yeah, I saw this Posted by Sarah_2005 3 hours ago that's not fair really is it? Jo replies to special cases yeah, as if she'd have time to write to everyone who wrote to her! I would like book seven SOME time this century! It's selfish to expect an author like Jo to write back. (from page 1) Thats being a bit well... eager. I mean we only had book 6 last year, Give her time!

Posted by lisa May 18th 2006

i totally agree with everyone who thinks sirius black is alive!! i've had that theory for a while now. and i also have a strange suspicion now that snape isn't evil... hm...maybe dumbledore would rather have had himself die than the malfoy's and snape?? seems like something he'd do anyway, from what i heard it wasn't very necessary to take down the letter... i haven't seen it, but it doesn't sound very informative to me

Posted by carrot_top May 18th 2006

thanks to everyone that posted that link!im happy i read it now even though it didnt reveal much.also thanks to ryan for sharing it with us fellow hp fans!it was nice of him to do that and hes sooo unbelievably lucky!!!:)

Posted by Fortuna May 18th 2006

teehee, it saved up in my cache. :D

Posted by Sariza May 18th 2006

Wow, how lucky is that kid??? I wish it were me!

Posted by meluvbassists May 18th 2006

well that sucks. i was all happy when i started reading the story. then my happiness came crashing to a halt when it said they couldnt put up the letter. *tear, tear*

Posted by BellatrixSnape May 18th 2006

Good thing I check Mugglenet like 5times a day.....Same thing happened on HP Lexcion a couple months ago......It was one of the things that was included in Ryan's letter. If you read both then you probably have put the pieces together

Posted by meleah May 18th 2006

mwahaha im glad i check this site so often. I already got to read the letter. booyah.

Posted by Jameroqui May 18th 2006

I was one of those people who were online when it first got posted. No worries guys, she didn't give away the title but she said the theories the writer had were close and very good. I believe she said that she "wasn't laughing" at them. Good Luck

Posted by grawp May 18th 2006

just a little peek at the name

Posted by Hermione08 May 18th 2006

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! That is so incredibly NOT fair!

Posted by andiamrick May 18th 2006

Wow, it was real. I was wrong. :-) Yay Jo, thanks for it!

Posted by dobby_rocks May 18th 2006

A lot of people already saw it there wasn’t much too it as someone said other then she feels she finale has the title of the book and that she didn’t laugh at his theories but to be honest I cant see Jo laughing at anyone ideas, if she did she surely wouldn’t tell them. I don’t recall her saying he was close or on the right track I find it funny that mugglenet claims they went to confirm it right away. If that was the case they wouldn’t have any posted it in till they knew of the letters genuine. They had posted it right away, with no mentioned original if they thought it was fake or not. Then later they took that article down and put one up saying Possible Letter from Jo and that they were checking into it

Posted by allikedavra May 18th 2006

Hmm..there must have been a little too much truthiness in that letter for the publishers...if she knows the title, soon we will. HBP title announcement- December '04. HBP release- July '05. That's like eight months...

Posted by clair May 18th 2006

im not sure whether Harry is a Horcrux tho, as in HBP Jo says " 'the snake?' said Harry, startled. "you can use animals as Horcruxes?' 'Well, it is inadvisable to do so,' said Dumbledore, 'because to confide part of your soul to something that can think for itself is obviously a very risky business.' " etc etc and then she goes on to say " 'he has unusual amount of control over her, even for a Parselmouth' " (page 473) surley if harry was a horcrux then voldemort would have some control over him too, and wouldnt it be to risky?

Posted by DaliGirl May 18th 2006

I saw the movies with my cousins and got the books to give to my niece to read then figured i ought to read them too so i could talk about them with her and after the first chapter of the first book I was totally ADDICTED--she still hasnt read them but i finished them all and now i feel like if idont check mugglenet or jkrowling.com daily i will miss something...like i missed the wombats... boohoo... It's torture waiting for the next book...as I was getting to the end of HBP I even tried to slow down reading it b/c i knew it would be a while b4 the next book (it didnt work of course)...

Posted by Quidditch_Queen May 18th 2006

I didn't think it was real. Wow, thats cool. I hope we get the title soon. Didn't we have the title for HBP like a year before it was released. I think we got it in July if I'm not mistaken. It was the first time the door opened. Ooooh, I hope that door opens soon either with the title or even another WOMBAT test. I got an O on the last one :) Bring it on...

Posted by focusf1 May 18th 2006

OH FOR GOD's SAKE ! Rather than obsessively typing away - it would be good if people actually R E A D some of the more sensibe comments above before manically typing away. 1. The letter is personal 2. IT DOES NOT CONTAIN BOOK SEVEN's TITLE 3. JK ROWLING said she's not laughing at some of Ryan's theories which are the usual : Snape is good debate, RAB is Regulas Black, DD is not dead, Harry is a Horcrux and Neville will kill LV. Nothing new. 4. The blanked part is personal to Ryan. E N D O F.

Posted by stststSTETTO May 18th 2006

focusf1 , i agree! WRITE YOUR OWN LETTER TO JKROWLING! maybe shell write back to you. kthx.

Posted by RyAn2006 May 18th 2006

lol thanks focuf1 that sums it up pretty well! the letter was personal but i thought long and hard b4 sending it in. I did block A VERY PERSONAL PART of the letter-dont worry nothing book 7 related under there at all!!! I didnt think it would be a problem-if it was why did she tell me in the first place that she had nearly got a title. Its hardly major news-i found the fact she thinks robbie coltrane is sexy much more news-worthy-sorry cringe-worthy! lol. at least peeps believe me now!

Posted by Quidditch_Queen May 18th 2006

Oh yeah, also wanted to add my thoughts on the Harry is a horcrux thing. It just doesn't makes sense to me that he could be. It would seem that if Harry were a horcrux that Voldy would be able to touch Harry. I understand that he couldn't touch because of the love from his mother and then in graveyard he used harry's blood and he could touch him. But it stands to reason that if Harry had a part of Voldemorts soul that Voldemort would be able to touch Harry despite his mother dying for him. Although it sure would explain the connection between them very well and would make to a nice ending because Harry would have to sacrafice himself. I don't know... so hard.

Posted by Wizardry May 18th 2006

I read the letter yesterday and she just said she might have the name for book 7.

Posted by siriusisalive May 18th 2006

oh my god ciaran just Imed me!! ahhh!!!!!!!

Posted by DaliGirl May 18th 2006

I would really not like for harry to have to sacrifice himself. I think a good question here is whether or not Voldemort had made 7 horcruxes before killing James and Lily and trying to kill Harry. Dumbledore centers around the number 7, but that doesnt mean that there were definitely 7. How many people did he personally kill prior to killing Lily and James? Maybe he didn't get to make the full 7 horcruxes before he lost his power in his attack on Harry, or maybe he made all 7 before trying to kill him...

People should see how JKR feels about PRIVACY to know that this constant whinging is gonna get nowhere and that privacy is a big deal to people. And to be honest - true fans should know that a writer of JKR's class is not gonna reveal the TITLE OF BOOK SEVEN in this way to ANYONE! Think people (before you go mad fading the lettering on your computer keys) - has she ever done it before? Ryan, good on you for receiving a response from JKR and you were brave to share it. Fanatic fans forget that being a fan doesn't automatically warrant you access to everything, especially into other people's privacy. Bet you wished you hadn't shared now lol !!

Posted by dumbles May 18th 2006

thank you ryan, for actually clearing up YOUR OWN LETTER. wow people are getting WAY too worked up about this. thank you again ryan (see above for his comment.)

Posted by headlessseth May 18th 2006

Just because she wan't laughing at his theories doesn't mean they're true. They were and are just good. Thanks to Ryan.

Posted by ilovehp2much May 18th 2006

why do they tell us that sutff if they arent even aloud to show it?! i really would want to know what it said! darrrn. p.s. can someone please tell me that by having this account on mugglenet do i have to pay for it ? if someone could please tell me that would be gret. thanks. :)

Posted by alexhpsawesome May 18th 2006

Soooo not cool, i want to see it SOOOO SOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSO bad. seriously, its really sad. hopefully they'll let him put it back up again to show everyone. How come she only showed him the name of the book. Maybe hes really sick and is going to die soon and its his last request. aw thats sad., joe is so amazing to tell him. seriously. i hope we all get to see it soon! -al

Posted by focusf1 May 18th 2006

R E A D THE DAMN COMMENTS PEOPLE ! OH MY GOD its not gonna stop. Mugglenet - DO something!

Posted by dumbles May 18th 2006

okay people please read all jo said was that she wasn't laughing at his theories and that she has a title, she didn't tell him anything don't worry you do not have to pay for mugglenet unless you select an option that gives you a price and the blurred out part was personal to ryan. he said it himself (see post 148 or something) thats all. just read. please. we are getting duplicates of comments that are not necessary.

Posted by Diva01 May 18th 2006
