Follow-up: A letter from Jo
Yesterday, we posted a letter a MuggleNet visitor had received from JK Rowling. The letter contained numerous bits of information concerning rumors and the title of Book 7. JK Rowling's agent confirmed for us that the letter was genuine, but they requested that we take it down to maintain the privacy of its contents.

We thank Ryan for providing us with the letter, and we apologize that we could not release it.

Posted by Janey May 18th 2006

Jo's gonna come on this site and read all these comments and be like "omg I can't believe one single letter has stirred up so much discussion and controversey! It's just a letter! These people really need lives" lol

Posted by bogart May 18th 2006

Ctg, i read it last night. Nothing too interesting. Except she said that she had the title of the seventh book almost decided.

Posted by dumbles May 18th 2006

okay people please read all jo said was that she wasn't laughing at his theories and that she has a title, she didn't tell him anything the blurred out part was personal to ryan. he said it himself (see post 148 or something) thats all. just read. please. we are getting duplicates of comments that are not necessary. i cannot believe i have to repost this!

Posted by siriusisalive May 18th 2006

thanks ryan u rock!

Posted by ronluva1 May 18th 2006

that is so freakin stupid! i wanna nowe the title everyone does so sucky

Posted by hplovinokie May 18th 2006

Hey, If the guy who got the letter reads these... please tell me what yoi did to get her to write you! or anyone else that has gottena response!

Posted by DecemberDrops May 18th 2006

You know, I thought . . . when I saw the letter . . . that it might be a good idea to keep it private.

Posted by michael_xxx10 May 18th 2006

i expect the title of the 7th book to be announced shortly, the title of book 6 was announced on the 29th June 2004, ant the publication was July 2005, this is 11 months, if we expect the 7th book on 7th July 2007, 11 months before is june? i think? so can we expect this soon?

Posted by SolidSnape May 18th 2006

and i agree. i don't think info about books that is dire should be released before it should. though i won't say no to an oppertunity to know all about Book 7.

Posted by dtaups012 May 18th 2006

ok, nothing against ryan, but if i got a letter from jk rowling, i would never send it to anyone even mugglenet... i'd be too scared lol. i'm not ready for the 7th book yet, but i really want to know the title, so i hope she has decided on that!

Posted by speed_like_a_steed May 18th 2006

Haha, wow, half of yall must have blood pressure through the roof! You guys are getting so worked up!! Try taking up chess or something.

Posted by Janey May 18th 2006

I'd rather wait until I read the book. It sucks to know ahead of time, because then you're not surprised like you should be. Takes all the fun out of it. Reading the HP novels is like a mystery where there are all sorts of clues that finally come together at the end, that always makes me say "Oh! Wow! Didn't expect that, but it makes so much sense! I can't believe I didn't see that coming!" But it's such a cool feeling, and it's the best part of the HP novels. You take that away, and it's like what's the point of reading it. I bet that's why it's taken Rupert a century to read HBP, because someone told him who dies. That's gotta spoil the enjoyment out of it. So what's my point? NO SPOILERS PLEASE!!! I LOATHE THEM!!!! And I'm sure Jo does too, which is why she didn't give anything away in the letter, which we're all making WAY too much of a big deal.

Posted by Janey May 18th 2006

HAHA!!! "I bet that's why it's taken Rupert a century to read HBP, because someone told him who dies. That's gotta spoil the enjoyment out of it." I'm soooo sorry. That sounded really horrible. I didn't mean for it to come out like that. I deeply apologize. lol

Posted by fahim May 18th 2006

Half the people posting comments think the other half know the title of the seventh Harry Potter book. I think Reuters would have covered the story by now if that was true. The letter was nothing interesting, just JK hinting Ryans theories are in the right area and that she has the title of the seventh book. What are these idiots going to do when the seventh book actually comes out????

Posted by loonz May 18th 2006

MUGGLENET -- go on aol dan radcliffe is on the list of 'hottest stars under 25" (i think thats wot its called). thought i wud mention it sry 4 the off topicness

Posted by Asriel May 18th 2006

All i can say is: thank you Ryan for sharing that letter with us. I think it was really nice of him (even if it was pulled off the web). It kinds gives me hope...at least she's thinking of a title...maybe the secret door will be opening pretty soon!! (after all, last time we got HBP title in June)

Posted by aquamarine116 May 18th 2006

Okay, I don't think there was much in the letter anyway though I didn't have a chance to read it.

Posted by jazzmaze24 May 18th 2006

Wow, I lost count how many times I read the letter's true contents. Also, I don't think Ryan is The Chosen One or anything incredibly stupid. I just think he's some kid who got a letter, whoo! We're not all Nancy Drew, guys this is not some big mystery [basically]: Some kid got a letter it had some stuff it was written by JKR. I wouldn't be surprised if we got the title during this summer, I actually expected it because we got a title from Jo a year from the release of HBP. So I truly believe sometime this summer we will know the title. Now for the theories: -For god's sake when JKR says someone's dead they're dead. -Harry is not a horcrux. Why in the world would Voldemort want to kill off a part of his soul?! Something that can keep him alive in case of emergencies?! -Harry's scar is not a horcrux. How do you destroy a scar? With Neosporin? -Of course Snape is good. Dumbledore, a man who does not fear death and believes it to be the next big adventure, would not plead for his death. Therefore, he was urging Snape to go through with whatever plan they came up with.

Posted by gryffingirl99 May 18th 2006

yea, i agree with you colormeconfused. but im kinda mad at that guy..... i wanted 2 kno soooooooo bad! i guess well just have 2 wait...*sighs*

Posted by tgtgcgirl May 18th 2006

aaaahhhh! it feels like they're dangling the letter in front of my face but they won't let us know exactly what it says! i think i'd rather not know he's got that letter than know its out there but i dont get to read it, you know? also, on the theory that harry is a horcrux, at first i blew it off as "no way, not in a million years" but as i consider it more, i see that it has substantial possibilities...but again, as of right now, it is only a theory, nothing more

Posted by nikkiloveshp May 18th 2006

ahhhh, that really sucks, i wanted to see it!

Posted by bubblettes May 18th 2006

I don't think it's strange at all. Jo, too, has a right to privacy, since she wrote the reply. I really doubt that the theories will occur in book 7. I mean, in order to actually predict what will happen, we need people that can think outside of the box, not guess the obvious. R.A.B. being Regulus seems a little too easy for me...And Harry being a horcrux is unlikely because Jo firmly states that no one can return from the dead, etc. etc. Remember how shocking it was to see Dumbledore die in book 6? And Sirius? And how few...very few...people theorized about horcruxes prior to book 6? I think we're getting too caught up in Jo's red herrings, real or imagined. And the letter...I saw it earlier. Nothing was revealed about book 7, get that straight. At Jo's website, you can read about her progress in the diary section, so it's nothing new.

Posted by marsisbrighttonight May 18th 2006

oh man, I wish I had read it while it was still up there. But I guess it doesn't really matter if everyone is saying it didnt really say anything...I still want to see it though!! lol yea tgtgcgirl-i feel like i have it but its in a foreign language I will never be able to read...what were the theories ryan had asked about?

Posted by mousewithk May 18th 2006

OK , and the point for telling us this was??... for we could wish we knew what was in that letter too? Sorry but i just dont understand why it was posted in the first place. kinda cool though

Posted by paulovaio May 18th 2006

i you went to see narnia, you shouldnt be here, I don't feed the competition.

Posted by King_of_all_losers May 18th 2006

I want to see the letter now! I could have lived in ignorent blist if you didn't inform us about taking it down... (psst, Email me the letter, they said nothing about that!) oh and if ryan is reading this, I'll trade you... $3.50 canadian and a empty pop can for the letter :)

Posted by Czechmetz May 18th 2006

Aaaahh, how agonizing to know I was soo close (but maybe not) to information regarding book 7.

Posted by speed_like_a_steed May 18th 2006

"-Harry's scar is not a horcrux. How do you destroy a scar? With Neosporin? " HAHAHA!! Oh man, I laughed so hard at that.

Posted by aalikane May 18th 2006

You can't post the letter? I READ the letter. O.o

Posted by appleannie May 18th 2006

This is to EVERYONE that's furious about this letter being taken off the site... SIMMER DOWN!!! Look, don't you have more fun thinking of more theories after each read? I mean. Seriously, the only part of that letter that should even come close to intriguing you is the title of book 7. After repeatedly reading the books I've come up with more ideas as to what's going to happen in book 7. Who's good or bad, dead or alive, and so on. Just calm down and keep with your theories. Don't spoil the last book ever to be written for the HP series for yourself. Enjoy the anticipation while it lasts! Besides, do you honestly want to know what's going to happen before the book is completed?

Posted by Chai May 18th 2006

nice, I'm kinda glad that I read it when it was up. Yay, it has a title= it's all coming together. =) ...and yet a sorrow "awww" for it is almost over. =(

Posted by MissKaye May 18th 2006

appleannie, AMEN! like i posted WAY earlier today, everyone just needs to calm down & breath. appleannie is 1000000000% right. why spoil it? the letter contained nothing important. Everyone just go and read all the books over again to ease your anxiety lol.

Posted by Dusty_d69 May 18th 2006

Ok whoever wrote that comment about Narnia is going overboard. How is that even related to the letter thing? Narnia was a great movie. And plus, CS Lewis wrote those books decades before JK Rowling ever thought of HP, so they are classics. Just because it happens to be fantasy does not mean it is competing with HP or any other fantasy movie for that matter.

Posted by margoooo May 18th 2006

PERSONAL letter. Only Ryan and JKR have the right to read it. Though nice of him to let us see it, it wasn't exactly respectful of JKR. Those of you who didn't see it: get over it. Really. Nothing was hinted at or revealed and we all know that she 's thinking of a title for book 7 because , guess what?! When it is released, it'll have a title! Just like how I bet you she's almost decided on writing, wait for it.........chapters. Come on people. Don't be so dense.

Posted by LilyEvans May 18th 2006

Lol margoooo I completely agree with you. Right now though, I just want her to write the book and ignore all this rediculous hype over the letter. I love you, Jo! Keep your awesome writing skills =)

Posted by appleannie May 18th 2006

LOL, MissKaye, I'm glad you liked that. Just to let everyone know, I've recently come across the letter and all you people out there who CLAIM to know the title of book 7 are deemed unworthy of making comments on this website. It's a load of rubbish and you know it so stop pretending. It's wrong to lead people on that you have more knowledge than you do. Frankly you need to get over yourself if you think THAT makes you cool. You aren't special - no matter what your mom tells you.

Posted by performingmonkey May 18th 2006

I'm wondering if it's been taken down because all those theories are true. Actually no, there's no chance of that being the reason. Speculation happens all the time, although not usually with feedback from Jo. Perhaps they don't want her saying 'I'm not laughing' being taken as confirmation that at least some of the theories are true. Harry being a Horcrux is definitely true, as is Snape's goodness.

Posted by Larien May 18th 2006

I honestly don't see why everyone has their underpants all in a knot over the whole thing. It's not like you'll NEVER end up knowing the damn title, you will when the book comes out.

Posted by hummingburdd May 18th 2006

he got a personal letter?! Oh wow!! did anyone see it before it was taken down??? thats so CRAZY!!! bahhhh how did he get that?!?! ok so, this ryan kid: would u like to share anything?!? *nudge* eh? eh?

Posted by Watermelon May 18th 2006

Ah well... I don't remember what it said. ^_^;

Posted by MissKaye May 18th 2006

ROFL!!! appleannie you're seriously making my side hurt here. i cant even comment on this issue anymore because people arent listening and they're gonna think what they want to. let them look stupid. i just get humor out of certain comments like yours appleannie. :) thanks for making my night haha.

Posted by gatedialer May 18th 2006

That is a bummer. I read the letter yesterday. A scan of it wasn't really necessary for me, I was content with just reading the news. I'm not too bothered that it was asked to be removed on the site. At least we know what's brewing!

Posted by margoooo May 18th 2006

Really guys? Is she going to say, "Wow, I've never heard such moronic theories before in my life!"? Clearly not. She's going to allow people to theorize until the book comes out... and she's being nice. And for those of you wondering how he got that letter... please... Honestly, he wrote to her! but you never know... maybe she has a secret lottery of names and addresses of people all over the world and writes them letters concerning HP and the events in their lives. Sure, that MUST be it.

Posted by 0_o May 18th 2006

People, the letter did not contain the title of Book 7. It was taken down because it was quite a personal letter. It would be rather unfair for JKR to tell someone the title of the book without telling everyone, and I don't think she would do that to her fans. All she said was that she thinks she may have decided on a title, but that she couldn't reveal what is was.

Posted by margoooo May 18th 2006

Is it really my evil, or can I share it with everyone? I like to share.

Posted by Dusty_d69 May 18th 2006

I love the HP series, but some of you need to pay attention to other things in your lives besides these books and take things like this less seriously. Find a new book to read while you wait for the title or something. Speculating won't get you anywhere. The publishers will release it when she's ready.

Posted by Alora_Phoenix May 18th 2006

AH! Why must she torture us so! I went to Washington D.C. a few days ago, and now I'm in Indiana, and I can't stand what might happen while I'm away! A new WOMBAT? New Information? The title to the seventh book? Any more of this and I may pass out!

Posted by halleedwards May 18th 2006

When I read the letter yesterday, all the personal stuff was blurred out. So what was the problem?
