The Harry Potter Alliance Equality FTW campaign is going strong and is approaching the goal of $100,000 raised. The campaign just needs a little push for the fans. Well, today the campaign got a HUGE push as word spread through the fandom sites quickly when Leaky's webmistress Melissa Anelli said this:
So what is the "big news" that she is referring to? How about a British version Harry Potter book set signed by author JK Rowling herself? THAT'S HUGE!!!
While Ms. Rowling has graciously signed seven (7) books, the HPA is only giving away four (4) of the books in this campaign.
The HPA is an organization created by fans, serving fans, and supported by fans. It is a place where Harry Potter fans, Nerdfighters, and other fandoms can come together and find practical ways to decrease world suck.
The Harry Potter Alliance is a non-profit and so relies on people like you: Harry Potter fans, Nerdfighters, Whovians, Browncoats, and supporters from all twelve districts. It is your support that makes their work possible: Over 90% of their funding comes from members like you. Sometimes that's in the form of LeakyCon, Project for Awesome, wizard rock concerts, or even their Books Turn Muggles into Wizards T-shirt sales, but a lot of it comes from this very fundraiser. They take a lot of pride in being an organization that exists to bring fans together and to make fandom a little more magical. Our world needs a Dumbledore's Army, and with your help, they are making that a reality. They are all about decreasing world suck AND increasing awesome, and that's why they've put together such awesome perks to reward your donation.
So what are you waiting for? There are so many great items that you can receive with your donations, including this incredible set of books. Head over to the Indiegogo site right now, and help reach the HPA's goal. There are only six days left to contribute, and they need you.
"Dumbledore would have been happier than anybody to think there was a little more love in the world." - Professor McGonagall
