American 'Deathly Hallows' 784 pages!
Scholastic announced today that the US edition of Deathly Hallows will contain 784 pages, making it the second longest book in the series behind OOTP!Since the US versions of the books are published in a larger font and contain chapter pictures, this should mean the UK version will be around 700 pages long.
The US version of the book will have an initial print-run of 12 million, and the publisher has also revealed that each of these copies "will be printed on paper that contains a minimum of 30% post-consumer waste (pcw) fiber."
The President of Scholastic Trade Publishing and Book Fairs said, "Scholastic worked hard with our suppliers and the Rainforest Alliance to secure this extraordinary amount of recycled and FSC certified paper for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. As a company with an ongoing commitment to protecting the environment for this generation and generations to come, we believe producing this book and our future reprints of Harry Potter books with a minimum of 30% pcw recycled paper is an important publishing decision."

OMG, Excited is not the word that sums up how ecstaticly happy I am. I can't wait for this book to come out!!!!!!!! And im happy to hear Scholastic is being so enviormentaly concious!

so i'm sitting here in study hall and get onto mugglenet.....*freak out run over to my other hp-obsessed friend and high-five run back say how great it is and smile really big* yeah...everyone looked at me like i was insane but i dont care! 784 THAT"S AWESOME! nice and long!! i thought 750 so this is better! I'm way too excited hehe
But JKR said that it would be the size of the Encyclopedia Britannica, and much longer than the other books because she wanted to say goodbye to all of the characters! NOOO!!!!! No wonder she finished writing it so quickly.
I wanted Deathly Hallows to be longer!!! i dunno how JKR managed to fit in every detail, answer every remaining question and mystery, and include an epilogue with out it being at least as long as the Order of the Phoenix....but i just hope its good. since it is the last one, i was hoping she would have written more...whether its a sad ending or not, im probably going to cry anyway when the series is over : (

O it's so coool that we finally know the amount of pages! I live in the UK and will be buyin the UK version and around 700 pages is good enough for me! I'm sure it'll still contain everything it needs to include, as I'm confident Jo has done a great job!!

TOO SHORT!!!! C'mon, JKR, make it one million pages long... lol. but it's better than i expected. 784 pages is about 800 pages long, so that's 200 pages for all the for horcruxes. not bad...

Well, that's not that bad. At first I went crazy because I thought that was really small, but it'll make it just half a centimetre smaller than OoTP. Which is nice.
The US version has much bigger font than the UK, has a lot more spaces around the page and has illustrations. So I suppose the UK version will be around 700 pages

I am soooo excited for the book to come out!!!!! 784 pages sounds nice enough. Not too long, not too short. I thought that hbp was a little bit on the short side, so this one should be perfect!!!! You guys also have to remember that when they announce the page count they are counting all of the pages which will include the ones before and after the actual story. So the actual page count will probably be closer to something like 764.

*has finally stopped crying* Sorry, Jo. I was just looking forward to a longer book. If it's your favorite, then I'm Ok with however many pages are in it. I just don't want the series to end so soon, and for me, 784 pages is like a picture book. *becomes dobby, punishes self for being rude, apologizes repeatedly and bursts into tears*
Wow. I've spent the last 15 minutes emailing people while the rest of the world knew the DH length! AHH! 784 pages. Not bad... I was hoping for something longer than OotP(but then again, a lot of OotP was useless details rather than the good sink-your-teeth--into plot...). It took me, eh, seven hours or so to read HBP, so I suppose that I'll be needing a good 8 1/2 or more on July 21st!! WHEE!!
Thank you God for a long book! I want to make it last as long as possible.
I guess I'm okay with the nuber of pages. But still about a thousand more pages would be nice... or more books :( I'm not ready to let Harry Potter go yet.
