American 'Deathly Hallows' 784 pages!
Scholastic announced today that the US edition of Deathly Hallows will contain 784 pages, making it the second longest book in the series behind OOTP!Since the US versions of the books are published in a larger font and contain chapter pictures, this should mean the UK version will be around 700 pages long.
The US version of the book will have an initial print-run of 12 million, and the publisher has also revealed that each of these copies "will be printed on paper that contains a minimum of 30% post-consumer waste (pcw) fiber."
The President of Scholastic Trade Publishing and Book Fairs said, "Scholastic worked hard with our suppliers and the Rainforest Alliance to secure this extraordinary amount of recycled and FSC certified paper for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. As a company with an ongoing commitment to protecting the environment for this generation and generations to come, we believe producing this book and our future reprints of Harry Potter books with a minimum of 30% pcw recycled paper is an important publishing decision."

AWESOME!!!!! 784 pages is quite long... just like I hoped. I can't wait!!!! In a way I agree with the people who say they don't want it to end... but I think I'm ready. Besides, JKR planned 7 books, and I would say that she has more than proven herself capable of coming up with the perfect ending. July 21st is gonna rock=D
Yeah, that's pretty good, longer the GoF. Obviously, for me, the longer the better... but meh, im satisfied, but im more interested with the cover.

784 PAGES!!! That is the perfect length not quite as beastly as OotP, but still long enough to keep me busy over the summer (at least for a couple days)!! Thanks Jo for writing such a wondeful, perfect-lengthed book!
Yay, recycled paper! It would take a few forests to print that many books on new paper, so that makes me happy. I'm a tree-hugger. :D Anyways, I think that's a pretty good size. OotP was massive...
OMG THIS LIKE THE BESTEST NEWS EVER!!!!!!!!!!! (other than the title itself, but you know what I mean) OH WOW I AM SOOO EXCITED RIGHT NOW AND I THINK I'M GOING JUST A LITTLE CRAZY!!!! ...Whew. OK, I think I got that out of my system. That's a decent size! Only about 100 pages less than OotP, right? Pretty sweet. It might even take me two days to read! NOOOO! *giggles* Oh, man, thank you , Jo, for making it last that long... I am so definitely preordering it... Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!! Now all we need are some cover illustrations...

Also, I would just like to point out, that while the more pages the better, its the STORY that matters
me and my friend are sooo pumped we are coordinating tomorrow. we are wearing harry potter glasses, brown mugglecast tees, and blue jeans. we are soooo pumped!! i just wish it was longer.... but, i will get over it, since it will be sooo good!

This is great news, I was hopeing for longer than goblet of fire!! I would have liked for dh to be in the 8 hundreds. BUT 784 is pretty close. So overall WOOT!!!!

YAY!!! thats EXACTLY what i wanted!!!! now all we need is the cover art and we're good until july 21!!! PS still when HBP was coming out they said it was gonna be 672 pages and it turned out to be 20 pgs shorter....just thought you would know...
Yes, the cover art will certainly heighten everyone's eagerness when it arrives. As much as I'm excited about the book, I don't want to know too much about it before I actually hold it in my sweaty palms. Quite honestly, I can judge the length of the book better if I see its thickness with my own eyes.

Thanks JK, not only for Deathly Hallows but also for getting people to say that 784 pages of book "is not enough". Can you imagine that the editors made her shorten "Philosopher's Stone" because "it was too long"! I, for one, would dearly love to read Harry's first adventure exactly as JK had handed it in the first time BEFORE they cut it back. They really ought to republish the first one as it was intended to be - perhaps some of the procedes could go to a charity of Jo's naming. Wouldn't you buy a copy too??

Hmm. That's itty-bitty compared to OotP, but it'll be what it'll be, and, Jo being Jo, I have grave doubts that it will be anything less than spectacular! (I used altogether too many commas in that sentence.) I'll admit that I was hoping for something larger, though. Oh well!
i love how they just sort of slip the number of pages in there under the radar. they obviously underestimated how much we were all going to flip out about it. silly publishers.

its kind of sad to know that the end of the series and the end of all of the speculation over what will happen between voldemort and harry will come in 784 pages, that what will come will come, no matter what we think should happen. it is definetly bittersweet.

tthis is perfect but i hope the bloomsbury edition is only 80 pages shorter becuse if it is it will be the longest bloomsbury edition....yep ootp is only 764 in australian edition. the 608 reported rumor yesturday is too way too small. also everybody needs to vote for mugglecast on podcast ally were only just behind.

It should definitely be longer...make it infinately long. That way the series will never end! I was hoping it would be longer than OotP, at least.

words cannot express my excitement for this! i cannot stress how much the length of HBP disappointed me. i mean you can't beat OoTP, but i mean 2nd longest is still really good.
I wanted it to be longer... But I am still pleased with the length.
