American 'Deathly Hallows' 784 pages!
Scholastic announced today that the US edition of Deathly Hallows will contain 784 pages, making it the second longest book in the series behind OOTP!Since the US versions of the books are published in a larger font and contain chapter pictures, this should mean the UK version will be around 700 pages long.
The US version of the book will have an initial print-run of 12 million, and the publisher has also revealed that each of these copies "will be printed on paper that contains a minimum of 30% post-consumer waste (pcw) fiber."
The President of Scholastic Trade Publishing and Book Fairs said, "Scholastic worked hard with our suppliers and the Rainforest Alliance to secure this extraordinary amount of recycled and FSC certified paper for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. As a company with an ongoing commitment to protecting the environment for this generation and generations to come, we believe producing this book and our future reprints of Harry Potter books with a minimum of 30% pcw recycled paper is an important publishing decision."

Is this 100% offical because like sombody said earlier, THEY did shorten half blood prince. Let us hope that this is the FINAL page count. IF it is any shorter it would be very very very bad.

im pretty dissapointed actually, i hoped that deathly hallows would be the longest yet, but i guess not. and i bet the font will be bigger to so i bet the order of the pheonix is way longer actually. owell, better be a good one.

Oh jeez...can't it be at least 1000 pages or something? Oh well, that's not a let down. The total number of pages is more than the sixth book and that should be a good omen that there will more satisfying details for fans to digest. Can't wait for July 21st!

Sweet, we have a page count...I hope the cover art doesn't come out *too* soon. If it does, we'll have nothing to hold us over until July! I want to see the cover, but we need a reason to keep coming back to this page ^^. I can't wait for Mugglecast *after the book comes out, it's going to be so interesting to hear them talking about what happened and the series as a complete unit, as opposed to an open ended unfinished sort of thing.
I think that its absolutley FABULOUS that its 784 pages!!!! I am slightly disapointed though thats its shorter than OOTP, but I trust J.K.R. I know she wrote it the best way she could, so we shouldn't be too disapointed. Oh I cant wait until it comes out!!!!!!! Anybody going to have fun at borders or barnes & nobles on the day of?? I KNOW I AM!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm wondering if they used the smaller font like they did for OotP or they used the font they did for the rest of the books. Because if it is the font size used in OotP, then it is actually pretty long. I, for one, hope this is with the smaller one so it will take longer to read (and make HP last just that much longer). I just went over to my HP books and compared it to the others. It's actually not dramatically shorter than OotP. If I am remembering right, it is 50 pages longer than GoF. At least it's longer than GoF, that's what I was really hoping for. Bittersweet.
Well I, for one, am extremely pleased and excited. Sure, we all wanted the book to never end... but it has to and thankfully, Jo made sure we'll all be satisfied. I, personally, was worried that the book was going to be MUCH shorter than GOF or HBP. Luckily, she came through. :)

nice try, but the canadian editions are printed on 100% post-consumer recycled paper and have been since order of the phoenix. yay for the environment! anyway, i'm very excited that it's that long! hopefully she gets everything we want to know in. i can't believe it's really finished!

thats cool. for the HBP my mom made me come out of my room and hang out outside... so i brought my sunglasses and read out there. HARRY POTTER RULES!!! however, just forgetting your words in a solo for like the whole school and parents does NOT rule...

784...well...it's a lot, but I'd take 1,000+ pages!! :D I was hoping it'd be the longest in the series but I guess I didn't really expect it to turn out longer than OotP. I'm very glad it's the second. And of course that it's JK's favorite, I'm CERTAIN it'll be mine too. I'm just dying to know what happens....can't we have it noooww?? And also, props to the publishers for caring about the environment!! Go you!
Hmmm.... I wonder if she tried to aim for 777 pages, but it didn't work.....i mean, since everyone expected the 07/07/07 release, amybe once she realized it wasn't gonna happen, she aimed for 777 pages instead, but just couldn't edit enough out. OR-maybe it was 777 pages, but with all the font changes, etc., etc., it became 784??!! It's possible, don't you think??? (Sorry- I know, this is sort of a ridiculous theory, but 784 is incredibly close to 777...just a thought....)
