American 'Deathly Hallows' 784 pages!
American 'Deathly Hallows' 784 pages! Scholastic announced today that the US edition of Deathly Hallows will contain 784 pages, making it the second longest book in the series behind OOTP!

Since the US versions of the books are published in a larger font and contain chapter pictures, this should mean the UK version will be around 700 pages long.

The US version of the book will have an initial print-run of 12 million, and the publisher has also revealed that each of these copies "will be printed on paper that contains a minimum of 30% post-consumer waste (pcw) fiber."

The President of Scholastic Trade Publishing and Book Fairs said, "Scholastic worked hard with our suppliers and the Rainforest Alliance to secure this extraordinary amount of recycled and FSC certified paper for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. As a company with an ongoing commitment to protecting the environment for this generation and generations to come, we believe producing this book and our future reprints of Harry Potter books with a minimum of 30% pcw recycled paper is an important publishing decision."

YAY!!!!!! that is a really good length. i wish (of course) that it was more, but 784 is a great ammount!!!

Posted by Lynn Mar 22nd 2007

About 700 pages, thats cool! People have to realise it's nearly over,I don't see the point in a veryyyy long book.Jo said this book is her favourite,I trust her and I think it's perfect. Not to short, not to long. They would have lost a lot of money on a very large book. And it would have gotten boring .. So, perfect Jo! Can't wait for July!

I agree the longer the book the more that is explaines and the longer it takes. more time to understand what is happening. (tear) the final book has come very sad. to bad she cant continue with the series. it has to stop somewhere.

YES I think 748 is a good length AND I *CANNOT* WAIT FOR IT TO HIT THE STORES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!! Good point, Moaning_Myrtle, this will probably be responsible for about half the depletion of the rainforest.

I'm so excited!!!!!!!! Second-longest book... that will do! *jumps around screaming* EEeeeeee!!!!!! I can't wait! Now we just have to wait until the July 21st....

WOW! I am so excited! I can't believe it, 784. Rounded up, it's about 800 pages. That's so cool. I am a little disappointed that it's not the longest but i wont let that get in the way of my celebrations. I should have a party! Well...if i had parties for every great thing about harry potter I'd be partying all day and all night. I can't wait to read it.

On page 784 the magic ends. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Year 7 begins on July 21, 2007 7-21-07....the magic ends....

Posted by LilyJamesForever Mar 23rd 2007

Bittersweet. It's fantastic that the book is long, and the publishers are being environmentally friendly. But I can't believe that the Harry Potter Series we have come to love is ending! I wish it would never end! But if JK Rowling writes another book, I'll be buying it immediately. I can't wait!!!!!!!! but I can. Confusing huh?!!!!

Hmmm, relatively speaking that's not much shorter than OoTP. I'm not sure whether to be glad that we have so much 'Deathly Hallows' or worried that the editors might have the same reaction as they seemed to have done with OoTP (i.e not wanting to touch it, because it is Rowling). I'm going to trust that JKR knows all about quality over quantity and therefore makes this book worthwhile over and above it being the final instalment. Honestly, I can't imagine her doing anything less, because regardless of how publishers react to the series, she really does seem to love what she's doing.

aahh. i want it l o n g e r !! oh well, it'll be good anyway... i just wish it wouldn't end! can't wait though :]

Posted by althalus Mar 26th 2007

Sorry if someone already said this, as I have not read all 370 posts, but 7 and 8+4 make seven and twelve, two very important numbers in this series. I knew JKR was good, but I didn't know she was THAT good!

darn!what is that?the second longest book?wow.thats gonna be.i wish it were the longest since it's the last one in the series, ahwell.thats awesome!
