In a video posted on the BBC News website, JK Rowling has spoken about her reasons for founding Lumos. “It chose me,” the author said about the cause in an interview with BBC journalist, Lizo Mzimba. Rowling said that she felt a mixture of emotions when she had learned about the situation in Europe. She said, “You feel outraged. You feel guilty you didn’t know about it before” and “at times compelled to say to this child, 'Come home with me.'”
Rowling went on to say, “What’s the point in being alive if you don't try to make things better?"
Rowling also spoke about her attitude toward the press and the current situation in the UK. Mzimba closed the interview by asking Rowling about how it felt to return to the Potter world with Fantastic Beasts. Rowling said that, "It was seventeen years, and I'm back there in a different way." She finished by saying, "Part of me will forever live there, and I’m not sorry about that.”
