'Deathly Hallows' cover art released!
Scholastic and Bloomsbury today both revealed the covers for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows!

- United States Children's Edition - view here
- United Kingdom Children's Edition - view here
- United Kingdom Adult Edition - view here

You can also view a high-res version of the entire US jacket HERE.

Bloomsbury also announced today that the UK edition will be 608 pages long. As previously announced, the US version of the book will have 784 pages, making it longer than GOF. However, the UK page count makes DH shorter than the British GOF (which is 636 pages long). We presume this is due to an increased font size for the US version.

UPDATE: Arthur Levine, the US Potter editor, spoke this morning on the TODAY show about the American cover:

"We're seeing Harry in a very interesting situation. Readers will find out exactly what the situation is.

"When I was reading it, I had both the excitement and the power of the book, and the plot, driving me forward. But I was also feeling a little sad. It's the last time."

When Levine admitted he "sobbed and sobbed" while reading Deathly Hallows, he was asked the following:

"That means someone we like dies, doesn't it?"

"Well, it means it is a very, very emotional book," he responded.

Posted by Ricochet67 Mar 28th 2007

Did anybody else notice with the Scholastic magnifier that neither one of them has a wand at all - you can see all 4 hands - now I'm wondering what they are looking at?!?! ARRGGGH! Something else to have us examining and taking every detail apart - what does it MEAN? :)

Posted by TaylorFelton Mar 28th 2007

Amazing! i can't wait!!

Posted by rachel9isfine Mar 28th 2007

AWESOMEEEE!! I wish the US one was a bit darker colors though, I think the UK one with the locket looks real cool.

Posted by jay4034 Mar 28th 2007

and now i'm going to spend the next 24 hours of my life analyzing a book cover. and i couldnt be happier.

Posted by Hiafex Mar 28th 2007

Wow, it looks really well done. They seem to be fighting on some kind of ruings... perhaps Godric's Hollow? But it also looks like it is surrounded by a colosseum. I wonder what they're both reaching for...

Posted by itsup2usoftball Mar 28th 2007

yellow! its wonderful! I love it!

Posted by Kewlchik Mar 28th 2007

As usual I really don't like the US cover, but as I always get the UK version, I'm just happy they're better ^_^

Posted by bigmuggle Mar 28th 2007

*faints

Posted by Gryffindork Mar 28th 2007

The background reminds me of Hercules. You know, the part where he knocks all the column things over? Anyway, it's really early in the morning and I just screamed when I saw the cover. SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO excited.

Posted by AzkabanSirius Mar 28th 2007

From the looks of it, Harry and Voldemort are going to go to Rome and fight it out in the Coliseum.

Posted by Hiafex Mar 28th 2007

I had a couple more realizations as I was looking at the cover. They could possibly be reaching for Fawkes since they both seem to be looking in the air, could he have their wands? (Since they each contain a tail feather of the phoenix's) And if I'm not mistaken, Harry doesn't seem to have the scar on his forehead.

Posted by queeny Mar 28th 2007

aw wow! i like the uk version! heehee its groovy!

Posted by HPlegacy Mar 28th 2007

I SEE THE LOCKET. COVER RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by Kenzi Mar 28th 2007

Yeah i saw it on the today show like 2 seconds ago...its so pretty how long till it will be big enough to put on my desktop?

Posted by dinky_diddy_kins Mar 28th 2007

It looks to me that Harry is looking up at something and Voldy is looking at Harry. I could be wrong though. Are those curtains on the sides of the picture. What are those?

Posted by hippiekiller Mar 28th 2007

Holy Crap, I just saw the cover on the Today Show...wow. Im not sure how much I like the cover but its def. different. Im not sure whats up with Harry's pose though.........

Posted by snuka Mar 28th 2007

...is it just me or does this confirm that Deathly Hallows is, in fact, a place?

Posted by bwof Mar 28th 2007

Okei, on the us version there seem to be people around Harry and Voldemort, did you see them? They stand in the background!! But what the heck are they all doing? The cover doesn´t reveal much does it?! Are Harry´s eyes BLUE?? And my first thought of the uk version was that are Harry, Ron and Hermoine robbing gringotts?! haha. Anyway, Yeaha, finally the covers are HERE :)!!!

Posted by ninja58 Mar 28th 2007

omg it's gonna make me cry. I can't believe HP is gonna be over this summer. :'(

Posted by Helene Mar 28th 2007

I love them both!!

Posted by Y2J Mar 28th 2007

The US version is so.........Different styled than the other covers. All the other covers (except for GOF) represent darkness. This one is just, Orange. It Rocks :D

Posted by alicat Mar 28th 2007

KDFJASDKJF SPAZZ YAY!! It's orange! Wow.

Posted by alicat Mar 28th 2007

KDFJASDKJF SPAZZ YAY!! It's orange! Wow.

Posted by Naush Mar 28th 2007

I dont like the UK Cover too much! the US was is the best so FAR!

Posted by roadtripkaraoke Mar 28th 2007

I think the UK covers won, but Harry does look kinda cool on the US cover.

Posted by hippiekiller Mar 28th 2007

I'm not too crazy about the orange but I guess it looks more like a sunrise/sunset this way. I was personally hoping for maybe a red cover. On the Today Show the editor said that he "sobbed" when he finished the book; I guess the book must be pretty good then.

Posted by HP_and_me Mar 28th 2007

OMG!!! What is that? A treasure or something? ooooooh.... Can't wait any longer!!

Posted by bwof Mar 28th 2007

Ooh really? The editor said that???? I hope the clip of it will find its way here SOON! Please mugglenet?

Posted by J_Dizzle Mar 28th 2007

PErhaps theyre figthing for a wand!!!!!!!!!! Since they obviously cant use theyre own wands against each other, they could be trying to get someone (like wortail perhaps?) to throw them down a wand to finish off the other one!!!

Posted by bigmuggle Mar 28th 2007

While MuggleNet was loading, I thought to myself..."I'll jump out of the window if the book covers are released..." Then the site loaded and I fell off my chair. Haha! Insane don't you think? I love the covers!

Posted by Dominogameboy Mar 28th 2007

OMG!!!! Did anyone else notice that in the UK Kids edition, they are all like, fighting to get away from something? AND there's a stone archway behind them with no veil. they look like they're being sucked into the veil, but I dunno. It wouldn't be the first time that a theory was WAAAAY off the mark. OH! and, Ron is holding a sword, probably not Gryffindors, but still worth a look.

Posted by SuzieQ Mar 28th 2007

wow! i get the UK/Canadian version, and i must say i absolutely hate the front cover but it sure could tell us a lot! where is there lots of treasure? Gringotts perhaps??? ooooooooooo.....
