'Deathly Hallows' cover art released!
- United States Children's Edition - view here
- United Kingdom Children's Edition - view here
- United Kingdom Adult Edition - view here
You can also view a high-res version of the entire US jacket HERE.
Bloomsbury also announced today that the UK edition will be 608 pages long. As previously announced, the US version of the book will have 784 pages, making it longer than GOF. However, the UK page count makes DH shorter than the British GOF (which is 636 pages long). We presume this is due to an increased font size for the US version.

UPDATE: Arthur Levine, the US Potter editor, spoke this morning on the TODAY show about the American cover:
"We're seeing Harry in a very interesting situation. Readers will find out exactly what the situation is.
"When I was reading it, I had both the excitement and the power of the book, and the plot, driving me forward. But I was also feeling a little sad. It's the last time."
When Levine admitted he "sobbed and sobbed" while reading Deathly Hallows, he was asked the following:
"That means someone we like dies, doesn't it?"
"Well, it means it is a very, very emotional book," he responded.

Brilliant work by Mary Grandpre, once AGAIN surpassing the UK cover =] I don't particularly like Adam Levine. I've met / spoken with him twice, as my sister was involved in Today-Show hosted HP trivia competitions, and he was very rude and acted as though he were very superior, talking down to me like I was two (I was about 13 at the time). He was supposed to be the judge and got several things blatantly wrong. And decided to ignore me when I pointed it out. Pehh.
Back again: Quote from Dumbledore in HBP Chapter 23 entitled "Horcruxes": "It was, he thought, ***the difference between being dragged into the arena to face a battle to the death and walking into the arena with your head held high.*** Some people, perhaps, would say that there was little to choose between the two ways, but Dumbledore knew - and so do I, thought Harry, with a rush of fierce pride, and so did my parents - that there was all the difference in the world." Explains Harry's "jovial" appearance, no?
Hmm... harry has the locket on in the US cover... interesting. i wonder why he's in such baggy robes... strong wind? And i think that the cover has to to with Priori Incantatum because it's all gold/orange colored... like in book 4 they were in a gold cage of light......
Posted by Janeykins 5 hours ago Ok i have just read through all the comments and NOBODY has commented on the fact that in the UK kids version....THERE ARE TWO MIRRORS...COULD THESE BE THE TWO WAY MIRRORS?????? ......................... ......................... ......................... ......................... ......................... ......................... ......................... ................. Jane ykins! I don't see MIRRORS in the UK version, and I would like to see Mirrors, because I am convinced that a mirror once owned by Ravenclaw is the unknown Horcrux, not the Mirror of Erised, but a relic quite as powerfull. There is something very sneaky with mirrors through the serie.
Did you realise that the armour on the UK-cover on the left wears a snake? I believe the trio are stumbling in Voldys vault of Gringotts or may be in the Chamber of Secrets!?
I knew it, I forgot where I put it but I said in about 3 weeks the cover would come out... no one believed me.*sigh*
the scar is there on the us one...you just have to look closely it kinda blends with his hair. and on the uk one does anyone have any idea about the armor? the breastplate seems to have a bird or something on it...a phoenix maybe? and the helmet has a dragon..... ah i love the us one! it is so perfect!
What's with the curtains? Is Harry going to wake up and realize all of that was a strange dream that he had during a boring play that the Dursley's dragged him to? ZOMG PLOT TWIST!
Wait, is there no US Adult version? I don't want the US kiddies version : ( I love the UK adult one.
I LOVE YOU, Harry Potter! You are my one and only love!!! =)
Ok!!! i just noticed something! it's not a big discovery having to do with what they are reaching for on the US cover or anything like that, but you all have noticed the curtains on it, right? well on the book 1 US cover Mary Grandpre also put a curtain on the back of the cover. TO ME i think that these curtains, on their respective books, are like the "opening" and "closing" of the books. do you get that? kind of like at a play you have the curtains opening to begin the play and closing to end it. just a thought. :) p.s. does anyone know where i can see the reveal of the covers on video? i missed it on the news and i would like to see it. thanks.
The US version must be taking place in the final battlefield! There's a dead tree (burnt by a spell perhaps?) and people standing in the shadows. Voldemort and Harry are both reaching for something... A HORCRUX PERHAPS?? And the UK version... I see a stag! And the cover looks a bit pirate-themed.
Is it dobby behind (30 year old) Harry holding that dagger????
OMG!!!!! On the US cover, I am assuming that is Harry and Voldemort. And Harry is wearing an amulet, or is that the locket- I think it's the locket. And the background, are they at the entrance to heaven? Is that a council of cellestial beings? I think it gave me more questions than answers... So COOL!!!!!!!!! ~HPO21~
Why is it daylight for the "big battle"? You'd think Voldy would want darkness for it, but maybe Harry is dictating the terms of the confrontation. Another thought: Is that coliseum actually the Quidditch pitch at Hogwarts? (assuming that is Hogwarts on the back of the UK kids' cover and it will appear in the book).
will there be more than 1 us version??? wth is up with the uk kids cover??? i mean COME ON!!!! i like the uk adults... slytherins' locket?!?! and the us........ idk...... i just dont know............
"Is it dobby behind (30 year old) Harry holding that dagger????" I think that dagger might be godric griffindors sword. ALSO DOES ANYBODY NOTICE THAT HARRY IS WEARING SOME TYPE OF NECKLASE IN THE US VERSION!@@@@@@@@@!!!!!!!! !!! hello horcrux yo?
thats_nifty & hpintwense06 those are awsome I didn't realized that...
hey- the stag would mean that something about harrys father, james could be important inthe last book......or..harrys just gonna produce another patronus......lol
Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god, oh my god, oh my god, oh my god!!!!!! Yay!!!
*speechless*
that orb that the snake is in looks like a crystal ball. the reflections of light on the ball look like a window which would indicate that it is inside. perhaphs harry goes to see professor trewlawney in the off chance that she makes a prediction????????????/
Wow-I'm speechless! I just found out, just got home from exams, and my friend called me and told me. I'm amazed! The covers look great ~;)! It looks as if Harry and Voldemort are standing in a graveyard-did anyone else see the tombstones in the background (US)? And right in front of what looks like the veil(US)! Perhaps in the final battle, as there was a broken piece of wood in the corner (US). Astounding! I'm sort of miffed at the "Blurb" though... Not enough info! Hmm...A treasure room. Interesting. Ron was holding a sword, perhaps Gryffindor's? A stretch, but it could happen! Wonder what the trio was doing in there... Strange. Well, off to spend 24 hours staring at a book cover!
Now that I've looked at them all, I am not the biggest fan of the UK children's version. It looks weird to me, but then again I've read all the US versions... Harry looks old...
Oh my gosh. That's all that needs to be said. :D
I love that the whole trio is on the UK children's cover. I get the US books but I love the UK covers more. They're all fantastic, though. I'm so excited!
OMG! YAY! AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH! Lo oks like they're standing in a coluseum..... final battle setting?
OMG!!! i'm so excited!!! and i guessed the lettering would be red.. muahaha i was right! and the cover is so cool......aahhhh i want to read it!!!
Whoa. Just... whoa. And in the U.S. version, is that the fake locket around Harry's neck? Hmm... EEEEEEEEEPPP! ! *dies*
In the childrens UK edition behind harry there is what looks like a house elf holding the sword, or it might be a goblin. If you look real close you can see the top of its head and its pointed ears also, the arm holding the sword is extremely small.
We had a phoenix pile in the middle side of the UK cover of OotP, we had a ring in the middle side of the UK cover of HBP - now only a triangle that is divided into two and a circle inside of it... What does THAT mean? Is that the mirror both Harry and Sirius owe? Well, I don't remember the mirror that Sirius had given to Harry in OotP, but is it that?
DUH HARRY LOOKS HOT WHATS NEW!!!!! HES LIKE THE MOST GORGEOUS THING EVER.........its obvious harrys not gonna die......i dont think jk would kill off the main character....ok but isnt it that harry has to kill voldy and voldy has to kill harry either or and no one else can so i wonder if those really are death eaters or like maybe they are just their to help voldy or maybe like voldy has the order trapped and hermonie and ron :[...... i think harrys like trying to catch something maybe his wand fawkes or like a horocrux...so many difereent things can happen is all to much i love the us version the uk one i dont like how cheesy it looks....
British Childrens cover is too garish for an action-packed, emotion-filled ending to what may be the greatest series of books ever written. US cover however is ten trillion times better.....more mysterious and sexy.
OMG! thats amazinngggggg!!!!!!!!!
I like the picture on the US one but I don't like the orange. I guessed it would be a darker more sinister color from the name. I was thinking dark purple or red or even black, though black would be dull. I really like the UK adult one. I typicaly like those best for some reason.
I was just kiddin', Dr B, but thanks. :) But, whoa... can you imagine how angry the entire world would be if it was all just a dream? I'd put all my books through the shredder, passionate tears falling down my face (probably ruining the make-up I had carefully applied that morning), cursing JK Rowling and all of those who had ever supported her for giving me the greatest pleasure I've ever known and just taking it away! Sheesh. I need to cut down on the sarcasm. And gryffingirl99, I think those are people, not tombstones. Which makes it even weirder.
OH!!! I just forgot to point out to you who believe Harry does not have his scar in the US cover: Harry does have the scar still. It's there. At first glance it may look like there is only hair, but the hair covers it a little, but the scar IS there.
the sword isnt being held by ron! its by an elf or sumthing! maybe its kreacher, cuz he looks evil! he's lke hanging onto harry and holding the sword!
the uk adults book...its got the locket...why would that be the main theme of the cover unless it was going to be important in the book...she could have put any piccy of the horcruxrs on the front of the book...soo why the locket????
My opinion of the UK Children's cover: Harry looks like a fat doofus with problems, Hermione looks like a granny with hair dye, Ron looks like he's been Botoxed to look like that, house-elf doesn't need to be there....where's the action? Did the UK illustrator have LSD before drawing this load of crap?? I can't believe the UK is using that steaming poo ball as a cover. The US cover is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
hey but u.s. is griffindor colors.. weird oh... and i think its in the veil, room in the DOM
OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!! ITS AMAZING
I think there is also a metaphor in the US version; you see that Harry's about to catch something that is falling from the air, but consider that you didn't see the whole cover of US version, and you just saw the US version only with Harry: Do you get the feeling that Harry's waving like he's saying "Goodbye" as this is the final book? I got this feeling when I first looked to the one part of US version, and when I saw the whole US cover, my thoughts changed. I think Mary GrandPré did a really, really great work; a cover and also a metaphor at the same time - oh I love this woman! :D
UK cover has the AOL logo on the spine- did anyone else but me think that? OMG.....product placement....LOL LOL LOL!!!!!
OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG I LOVE IT I AM SO EXCITED I CAN"T BREATHE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ha ha ha ha DanielRadcliffeIsSEXY- the AOL logo LOL LOL LOL. i didnt think of that LOL LOL
I wonder who all the people are in the shadowy background. It looks as if Harry is wearing the locket that resides on the UK Adult Version cover! I just love it!
AOL LOGO IN A UK BOOK....UM ISN'T AOL short for AMERICA Online? Ummm......intercontinenta l product placement! LOL x pi's digits
hhhhmmmm...the gryffindor colours of red and gold...do you think that has any sugnificance or is it just a conincydenty...?!!?!?!?!? !?!?!
@ DanielRadcliffeIsSEXY: I wrote about the same logo in the UK version in the same page, a few messages before, and it doesn't seem as the AOL logo, it's something other - well, if AOL did NOT pay to place its logo on the cover of HP book. :D But that logo-kind-of-thing should be something important about the book, remember the ring in the HBP and it was a HORCRUX, so this circle-inside-of-triangle means something in the book. OMG! I can't wait till July, but at the same time, I CAN, because this is the final book and I'm not gonna wait anymore books after July 21st... So sad... I wish Rowling starts to a new and a brilliant series of book and doesn't make us to wait to long. I love her style (writing, speaking, acting, her attitudes etc.) and - what a big confess - I love you Jo... You're my fairy of goodness. :)
