'Deathly Hallows' cover art released!
Scholastic and Bloomsbury today both revealed the covers for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows!

- United States Children's Edition - view here
- United Kingdom Children's Edition - view here
- United Kingdom Adult Edition - view here

You can also view a high-res version of the entire US jacket HERE.

Bloomsbury also announced today that the UK edition will be 608 pages long. As previously announced, the US version of the book will have 784 pages, making it longer than GOF. However, the UK page count makes DH shorter than the British GOF (which is 636 pages long). We presume this is due to an increased font size for the US version.

UPDATE: Arthur Levine, the US Potter editor, spoke this morning on the TODAY show about the American cover:

"We're seeing Harry in a very interesting situation. Readers will find out exactly what the situation is.

"When I was reading it, I had both the excitement and the power of the book, and the plot, driving me forward. But I was also feeling a little sad. It's the last time."

When Levine admitted he "sobbed and sobbed" while reading Deathly Hallows, he was asked the following:

"That means someone we like dies, doesn't it?"

"Well, it means it is a very, very emotional book," he responded.

YOU CAN SEE HIS EARS POKING OUT AND HIS HAND IS ON HARRY'S SHOULDER.....HIS OTHER HAND IS THRUSTING UP GODRIC GRYFFINDOR'S SWORD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by potterluva9393 Mar 28th 2007

OMG! Has anyone noticed there is a stadium in the background! Theories forming**

Posted by DanielRadcliffeIsSEXY Mar 28th 2007

The UK version's Harry DOES look like Napoleon Dynamite....but it's Dan who plays Harry.....NAPOLEON DANomite! (Sorry, Dan....I honestly think you're the hottest guy alive. The HP guy on the UK cover isn't even on the "I Was Tormented at School Because I was Homely" squad. He's on the Ugly Ugly Ugly Ugly Homely Fatheaded Muggle Poophead Squad)

Posted by Watari Mar 28th 2007

OH MY! I don't know wether to laugh or cry or jump up and down or hide myself under the covers OH!!!!

Posted by MissB Mar 28th 2007

SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE EEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by ladyravenclaw Mar 28th 2007

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH! MYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY Y GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ! WOOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so excited the cover is amazing and really like the color theme they chose...it's alot brighter than the last 2.

Posted by potterluva9393 Mar 28th 2007

And I did notice the Dobby thing. He is holding the Gryffindor sword behind Harry. (foreshadowing)

Posted by DanielRadcliffeIsSEXY Mar 28th 2007

Hey....you know gold is a symbol of triumph? Then Harry is going to live. As a quote from Zelda: The Wand Of Gamelon: Ganon (Here it is Voldie from US DH cover): Nooo!!! The light!!! IT BURNSSSSS!!!!!

Posted by FlooGirl Mar 28th 2007

YAYAY hey in the U.S version doesn't it look like Harry is wearing a necklace or something??

Posted by dobby_rocks Mar 28th 2007

I think they all look great but i think Harry looks far older then 17 on the UK kids cover. Other then that i think their all good.

Posted by Kurarinetto Mar 28th 2007

O.O...................... ..... Oooooookaaaaay.. .. Personally, I have to say I think Harry is looking quite handsome... anyhow, the coloseum in the back with all those people are certainly some tantalizing clues... and the rubble about Harry and Voldemort's feet? and what possible could they be reaching for? Ah questions questions questions....gotta wait 114 days to find out

Posted by mudbloodslytherin Mar 28th 2007

wow! this is cool. I think i like the US version better. the colors blend so nicely and the drawing looks so smooth. did anyone else notice that Harry doesn't have a scar and that neither of them is holding a wand. could that mean that fawks is helping harry? what do you think that thing around harry's neck is? and what could they be reaching for? is it me or does it look like there is something really bright right above harry's hand?

Posted by hpintwense06 Mar 28th 2007

ok after watching that video of the unveiling of the cover, i was really annoyed with the talk show hosts. don't you just hate how those type-people always ask the most obvious questions that you just know that the person cannot answer? OMG well it annoys me! lol like when the Today Show hosts were like, "That means someone we like dies, doesn't it?" (obviously meaning Harry Potter) and Arthur Levine was like, "Well, it means it is a very, very emotional book," (cuz he obviously couldn't tell us that - now could he????) lol ok yeah

Posted by grednforge Mar 28th 2007

in the UK children's cover, on the back, it looks like there are shapes in the clouds... like I definately see two people, and the letter H... Coincidence? Or does it have a hidden meaning...

Posted by DanielRadcliffeIsSEXY Mar 28th 2007

The british cover looks like the Harry Potter parodies from Mad Magazine. Alfred isn't in the UK.....I think.....

Posted by Micino Mar 28th 2007

I like it, it has an opptimistic aroua to it, but that could be decieving though. But the yellow just gives this feeling that everything will be OK, despite having death in the title. I kind of liked the red made up one on the countdown clock, it made the book seem more....better? But you can't judge a book by it's cover. I do wish though that it had more of a picture for us to contemplate the plot events more. Like how GOF had a LOT on the cover for us to contemplate. But the cover is just there to protect our precious story. CAN'T WAIT FOR IT!

Posted by Flor Mar 28th 2007

I think the thing around harry's neck might be the fake locket that Harry said he liked carrying around to remind him of what he had to do..

Posted by amara Mar 28th 2007

ohmylord.

Posted by DanielRadcliffeIsSEXY Mar 28th 2007

Gollum snuck into the UK Childrens cover and he's got Frodo's sword to prove it.....and there are millenium falcons from Star Wars in the sky on the back of the UK children's cover.....Hmmm....more product placement.

Posted by Nokomis_Snape Mar 28th 2007

It looks as though Harry is wearing a Medicine bag...and if he is, I will be HIGHLY offended. A medicine bag is not something that just anyone can have. It takes a vision quest (where you starve yourself and go on a difficult journey to hallucinate so you can become one with your spirit animal and guide) and then a very sacred ceremony. If some British kid gets one just because he's "the chosen one" I'm going to flip out.

Posted by mudbloodprincess Mar 28th 2007

OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG MY MY MY OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG MY MY MY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SOOOOOOOOOO TOTALLY AWESOME!!! THOUGH THE BRIT COVER IS KINDA ... OK VERY UGLY (THE CHILDREN'S ONE) I ADORE THE US AND THE ADULT VERSION!! OMG OMG OMG OMG... THIS IS SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO O AWESOME AND MAKES THE BOOK SEEM CLOSER....THOUGH I DUNNO I DONT WANT IT TO END!!!!!!!!!!!!11...... goes off to cry in calculus textbook................. lyl lyl

Posted by grednforge Mar 28th 2007

on the US cover, it makes it seem as if harry's gone back in time because if you look closely in the archways, you can just make out the shapes of peasanty-looking people and even a knight.

Posted by potterwolff Mar 28th 2007

Wow. It looks nothing like how I thought it would, but it is absolutely beautiful. I think this my be my favorite cover of the entire series!

Posted by CarlosRascon Mar 28th 2007

Well I just want to know what that symbol on thespine of the UK cover means. its like a circle-triangle-divide in half. also on the back of the Uk cover is a picture of hogwarts with like a different view of the grounds....I don't know maybe that's the DeathlyHallows.or godrics hollow.

Posted by The_Fat_Lady Mar 28th 2007

I'm curious about these archways that are on both children's covers. Not the death chamber.. the veiled archway.. perhaps their search for a horcrux took them back to the Dept of Misteries.... I can't se a veil.. but would that explain the mysterious shadowy people on the US version? Are they the 'voices' beyond the veil?

Posted by silverphoenix21 Mar 28th 2007

YES, FINALLY!!!!!!!!!! I'm so mad at myself that I didn't know before now, but the covers are awesome!!! The U.K. one looks really weird though, like the trio broke into the Taj Mahal, lol. The U.S. one is good too, though it doesn't give away much, and the adult version's cover is obviously the locket (side note: what's the difference between the adult and the children's versions anyway?)

Posted by goldie09 Mar 28th 2007

is it just me or is the US cover missing Harry's scar?!?!

Posted by mudbloodprincess Mar 28th 2007

ok totally forgot to mention did anyone else see a goblet in dat pic (of harry "robbing gringotts" ahaha) and in the US version harry's wearing a necklace...could it be RAB's necklace?!?!? and the veil...could it posibbly be sirius (loving him) coming back!!!!? and prongs on the side...yay prongs!!! and harry has GREEN eyes ppl and y is ron blonde!?!?! ok got to sleep!!! lyl lyl

Posted by DumbledoresArmy88 Mar 28th 2007

OMG Micah asked for the cover.. and he got it !!! its gorgey :)

Posted by mastermike Mar 28th 2007

Nokomis_Snape, you are talking rubbish, aren't you?

Posted by Kurarinetto Mar 28th 2007

someone said earlier that Harry doesn't have his scar on the cover it's there, you have to look really close to see it

Posted by Clean0002 Mar 28th 2007

Wow, this story has gotten almost a thousand posts so far! Has there ever been this many before? One observation on the U.S version, does anyone else see in the sky one of clouds or in one of the clearings in the clouds the shape of a lightening bolt? Maybe I am just seeing things.

Posted by The_Fat_Lady Mar 28th 2007

Wait just a minute! On the US cover- There are definitely veils tied back in both sides of the foreground of the picture! This seals it for me!! They are inside the veiled archway in the Dept of Misteries Death Chamber. I'M LOVIN' IT!!!

Posted by mudbloodprincess Mar 28th 2007

I SEE DOBBY!!! but i dont see the clouds forming an H or a lightning bolt!!! omg im going sooooooooooo crazy,,,,,, i LOVE the colors in UK version!!! ok im finally off for the final time!!!! yay HP!!!!!! lyl lyl

Posted by DanielRadcliffeIsSEXY Mar 28th 2007

I see a dolphin cloud in the US version...

Posted by Ligeia Mar 28th 2007

Wow, having expected a darker cover, this was a complete shock at first....but amazing nonetheless. What does it mean? Why don't they have wands?!?!?! Where are they? Ah! And why is the storyline on the jacket of the UK version?

Posted by enak12 Mar 28th 2007

Wtf is harry and voldermort staging a play or something on the US one. Whats with the curtins?

Posted by SiriusGirl Mar 28th 2007

Don't worry, Clean0002. I saw the lightning bolt too. Faint, but there. And guys. There IS a scar on Harry's forhead, as Kurarinetto said- you just have to look closely. It looks like part of his hair.

Posted by DanielRadcliffeIsSEXY Mar 28th 2007

YAY FOR MARY GRANDPRE!!!!!

Posted by megblack89 Mar 28th 2007

comment #936! How appalling OH MY GOSH I got tears when I saw this!!! Its so sad, thats the last Harry Potter Book guys!!!!!!!!! But I am most happy that the TRIO are on the cover. Which of them will make it? I thought gringotts too... How wonderful :)

Posted by silverphoenix21 Mar 28th 2007

I see many things in the clouds but no H or lightning bolt. Mainly, I'm just seeing troll faces in the clouds *has gone crazy from examining covers*. I see Dobby behind Harry in the U.K. version, but what is that snake in globe thingy? Has Harry somehow managed to trap Nagini in a glass ball?

Posted by _cat_lover111_ Mar 28th 2007

it sort of looks like theyre in heaven doesnt it? maybe thats just me? and yeah voldy does look sort of scaredish and not determined. but harry looks sort of happy. which is a good thing i guess. but their wands are gone. maybe harry beats up voldy and then, voldy dies. psh i wish it was that easy. i wont be able to sleep for about 3 days before the book comes out. uhgg. and i think the cover is beatiful. and the people in the background, they are witnessing it, so more people have seen him now then. and whats the random broken wood and the rock mean?

Posted by jessiethinks Mar 28th 2007

Ok, from my first impressions of this cover, it seems Harry is in a very public arena, like a colosseum. He stands with his hand outstretched as if victorious or perhaps waving his last goodbye to the world. In any way, maybe Harry knows what he has to do, and he is prepared to do it. Maybe the final battle will be in front of everyone. I don't know why it would, but it does look like a Colosseum in the background and a croud watching him. Maybe he can call Voldemort out. Or Voldemort calls him out. No one can help, but the world can watch the final battle take place. Maybe the deathly Hallows are like a place where wizards can go to duel to the death?

Posted by KTbell Mar 28th 2007

omg im actually crying that this is the last hp book im so excited and sad!!!!!!!but the cover art is awsome...

Posted by gandalfxj9 Mar 28th 2007

The UK cover is very interesting! where do you guys think it's taking place?

Posted by RavenclawMagic Mar 28th 2007

Ohhhh goodness. This is one of the LAST big HP news. ='(. so freaking sad. but the cover is GORGEOUS! ahh, Harry looks really handsome and well-created.. the colors and everything... fantastic job, to Mary Grandpre. I'm definately pleased. =D Whee!

Posted by megblack89 Mar 28th 2007

I have never like the American versions, I think since GoF, the British (and for me Australian) versions are much better.... I suppose everyone likes their own ... I hope to collect the American versions one day all the same! It wil be the next most exciting thing after reading all the British versions 20 times each. ;)

Posted by double_trouble Mar 28th 2007

I love it!, and they're all on the cover! Of the uk one that is! I think the adult cover looks kind of eerie tho..does it give anyone else the creeps? Or is that just me?

Posted by GreekOcclumens Mar 28th 2007

wow wow wow that's really great. the UK version kind of just looks like a stupid adventure book...but I loveeee the US one. its my background :]

Posted by goodgyal Mar 28th 2007
