'Deathly Hallows' cover art released!
Scholastic and Bloomsbury today both revealed the covers for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows!

- United States Children's Edition - view here
- United Kingdom Children's Edition - view here
- United Kingdom Adult Edition - view here

You can also view a high-res version of the entire US jacket HERE.

Bloomsbury also announced today that the UK edition will be 608 pages long. As previously announced, the US version of the book will have 784 pages, making it longer than GOF. However, the UK page count makes DH shorter than the British GOF (which is 636 pages long). We presume this is due to an increased font size for the US version.

UPDATE: Arthur Levine, the US Potter editor, spoke this morning on the TODAY show about the American cover:

"We're seeing Harry in a very interesting situation. Readers will find out exactly what the situation is.

"When I was reading it, I had both the excitement and the power of the book, and the plot, driving me forward. But I was also feeling a little sad. It's the last time."

When Levine admitted he "sobbed and sobbed" while reading Deathly Hallows, he was asked the following:

"That means someone we like dies, doesn't it?"

"Well, it means it is a very, very emotional book," he responded.

Even though I like the US version better, the UK version tells more about the story. I think Harry's patronus is gonna play a roll in the book. So is the crystal ball, I think. And what's with the treasure around the trio? Can't wait for the MuggleCasters to talk about this! They owe us 2 extra MuggleCasts! :D

Posted by alicat Mar 28th 2007

What is that in the right bottom corner of the US version? A tree?

Posted by Hiafex Mar 28th 2007

On the UK cover, it is clearly visible that a house elf (probably Dobby) is holding what appears to be Gryffindor's sword. Could this be what Harry and Voldemort are reaching for?

Posted by hippiekiller Mar 28th 2007

I only got one word for the UK version: retarded.....

Posted by Jman61568 Mar 28th 2007

wheres harry's scar on the us version? it doesnt seem to be there, unless its black now, instead of red

Posted by shel Mar 28th 2007

on the Today show Levine said he sobbed while reading the book... I so hope this doesn't mean Harry or Ron has died, I'm so excited the US cover looks like they are in Rome? I agree with seeing people around them.... the adult UK cover is my favorite

Posted by bwof Mar 28th 2007

yeah i wondered that too. The scar seems to have vanished....

Posted by janegallagher Mar 28th 2007

oh snap! i really want to print it out and just carry it around with me... because i'm that sad

Posted by J_Dizzle Mar 28th 2007

No, it just looks like its his hair, the scar is there, just black, which is kinda weird... on the UK version, it looks like a elf like thingy is on harrys back hodling a sword, maybe its kreacher?

Posted by snuka Mar 28th 2007

Ron and Hermione look awfully scared if they're getting the gold from Gringott...will we see Hogwarts in this book as the back cover suggests? Where did the sword come from? So I guess the locket from Slyterhin on the cover is the last horcrux Harry will find? Woo...our local translation of the book is using US covers. Can't wait to see LV up close. The scar may be covered with hair..?

Posted by oddzag Mar 28th 2007

in the brit childrens one that's got to be griff's sword that harry is holding. woohoo! and the brit adult one we see slytherins locket. sooo coool! again not a fan of the american one, but then again i never was woohoo! and again woooohhooooo!

Posted by Hiafex Mar 28th 2007

It looks as though the trio could be in a Gringotts vault or at Hepzibah Smith's house. Remember how she was said to collect all types of valuable things?

Posted by anexcessofphlegm Mar 28th 2007

It's simple, and definitely not what I expected...but I LOVE IT. I am going to have a bloody brilliant day!

Posted by Y2J Mar 28th 2007

To Jman61568, The scar is there, but its between his hair, if you look carefully

Posted by Rein Mar 28th 2007

awesome.... am loving the UK adult cover. Too bad we get the scholastic one... i was hoping for black and white, but i guess orange is OK

Posted by ostito Mar 28th 2007

I have to agree with SuzieQ, i HATE the UK/Canadian cover, it looks horrible, they are normally better than the US ones but this time.......horrible...

Posted by Quiscalus Mar 28th 2007

I know this is my third post, but I keep noticing things. First of all, it does seem as though Harry's scar is gone. A mistake? Or is it actually important? Second, Harry is wearing some sort of pendant or necklace (US version). Thirdly, in the UK edition, the trio seem to be wearing exotic robes, or maybe that's just the artists vision of the robes. And there seems to be an elf hand holding up the sword in the background (UK version).

YESS! WHOOOHHOOO! AMAZING! TOP 100

Posted by kodemonki Mar 28th 2007

When is MuggleNet's cover art contest? I like each of the covers in their own way, but they might influence the contest. I was hoping to see the entries with an unbiased view.

Posted by charly23 Mar 28th 2007

ok, they r all brilliant!!!!!!!!! the us version....nice....asks more questions than it answers.....always fun! im loving it. the childrens uk version is soooo bright and colourful and the best cover so far for the uk kids edition in my opinion....im liking that the cover shows the trio older, and it looks like theyre in some kind of vault filled with gold and jewels etc at the bottom of a slide.....gringotts....th e chamber of secrets, who knows!!!! then theres the adult uk version........beautiful! enough said!!!!

Posted by annesmith Mar 28th 2007

guys, you notice? no scar, shadows in the background (death eaters??) and whats that pouch round harrys neck???? wierd... uk one is ok, is that dobby holding the sword behind harry???

Posted by Runningfrommoonlight Mar 28th 2007

Harry is wearing something around his neck in the US cover. Possibly the locket??

Posted by bwof Mar 28th 2007

Very goood "Quiscalus"!! I didn´t notice the pendant or whateever that Harry is wearing!! I think it looks like the locket!!

Posted by dracodragon Mar 28th 2007

Looks great. I wonder where Harry is... the background seems rather unfamiliar.

Posted by Miss_Malfoy Mar 28th 2007

OMG! I had a feeling we would get the cover art sometime soon. Ugh, the UK version is--different--but it has a summary on the back of its cover!!!!! Is it just me, or hasn't the back of the covers usually been released later, not until a few weeks before the release date? I know that was the case with HBP. Anyway, the US version is awesome, though--I love the orange.

Posted by J_Dizzle Mar 28th 2007

It seems to me, in the uk version, if thats money, theyre is only galleons, no sikles or knuts as far as I can tell by the colour.

Posted by RyAn2006 Mar 28th 2007

Why the hell does the UK version only have 608 PAGES! Its cool thats its the same as HBP but how is so much shorter than the emerican version!! We all thought about 700 when we heard 784 for america!! Oh and the UK covers are easily the best weve had!!

Posted by Quiscalus Mar 28th 2007

Okay, the more I look, the more I notice. (Dur!) On the UK version, there seems to be some sort of armor. There's the helmet and the other part is not too far away from it. Also on the UK version, there is a crystal ball or something with a contorted snake inside of it. What's that all about? I'm guess Harry will go back to Hogwarts, not for school, because the castle is on the back of the UK version. Aaanddd... I'll try not to post again, because I know this is getting annoying. So I'll go annoy my family about it.

Posted by dracodragon Mar 28th 2007

Haha I just saw the UK children's cover for DH and it's too funny! It looks like something from MAD Magazine! It's so funny!

Posted by Jman61568 Mar 28th 2007

To snuka, the only reason i thought it might not be there is because on every harry potter book you can see harry's scar very clearly. It seems odd that they would cover it up for this book.

Posted by LadyM Mar 28th 2007

AHHHHHH ITS BEAUUUTIFULLL!!! i get the american version...*drools*

Posted by browncoat Mar 28th 2007

Dominogameboy, I don't think Ron is holding the sword - it looks like Dobby! Some have mentioned it looks like the trio are exploding into a vault (maybe?) in Gringotts. I agree. Here's what I'm thinking: Didn't Hagrid once tell Harry that there was no way for a robber to sneak into Gringotts without living to tell the tale? And didn't he mention something about dragons guarding the place? It seems to me it's pretty stifling where the illustrator has drawn them. Dunno!

Posted by SEVERUSx Mar 28th 2007

oh it indicates that locket. And there's a snake so maybe Nagini really is a horcrux? And about the gold, that might be meant figurative, as in their bonds together are better than any treasure. But who knows -___-

Posted by AnyaMarcos Mar 28th 2007

Holy crap, the files for the British covers are HUGE. My computer is groaning. Regarding the American cover....meh. Not much detail, really. It looks like Harry and The Big V are fighting it out in some kind of an arena, with spectators in the background. I do see a little pouch of some sort on a cord around Harry's neck. If I ever get the friggin' UK covers to load I'll comment on them.

Posted by 62442 Mar 28th 2007

omg omg omg omg *screems out loud waking, causing parents to think i was hurt then starts crying because it will really be the end* omg omg i love it omg omg stares at computer screen with book cover wishing they could print it out and carry it around eiht them until i realize that it is time to go to school !

Posted by Saima Mar 28th 2007

Great Cover! P.S. Read this article and it will seriously make you want to laugh at the absurd comments this woman has made on who is the best out of the trio. Absolutely Ridiculous! http://mov ies.msn.com/movies/PMG/ch ildstars_2

Posted by Harrysgirl21 Mar 28th 2007

OMG!!!!! I got on here not really expecting to see anything new and behold THE COVER IS RELEASED!!!!!!!! I love it! I wonder what they are both reaching for and why don't they have wands? Oh I think I'm going to cry I'm so excited!

Posted by Lynn Mar 28th 2007

The American cover is booring, the UK children versions is boring and rather weird. I LOVE the UK Adult version though, their so much better than the children cover.

Posted by loris Mar 28th 2007

mmm... i expected a lot of black and green... all that ORANGE... i don't really know if i like these covers... i shall think about them... here's my chart however: 1.US 2.UK (children) 3.UK (adults)

Posted by vnvsnape Mar 28th 2007

Ok, so a couple of other people noticed the scar, or lack thereof... I'm wondering if in the US version, Harry might possibly be "beyond the veil" and the shadows that are around him are the people that are dead. Harry looks more like he's in awe than anything... I also noticed that Harry looks a bit more like Dan Radcliffe in the pic than any previous cover depiction. WHEE!

Posted by LadyM Mar 28th 2007

oh! and i just realized that on the american version harr's wearing something on his neck.its hard to see cuz his shirt is black but it looks like a pouch...

Posted by Shaun05 Mar 28th 2007

I like the US version. And how can the British version only be 608 pages, the difference for the last book was so small but for this one... its huge. I like the Uk cover though, and I don't think it is Ron holding onto the sword (which I think, is Gryffindor's sword look at the rubies which have been set into it.) it looks as if it's a house elf. And thats definatley the archway

Posted by muggleatuniv Mar 28th 2007

meh. I don't care too much about the US version's art. It's very blah with that ugly color of orange. It looks too safe, like they don't want to give anything away. Boogers. I absolutely LOVE the UK versions' covers and I am debating whether or not to buy them. Interesting things to note? Deathly Hallows is written in the sky with print that looks handwritten(WHY?). The adult version has slytherins locket, nothing new there. Childrens version: Harry Hermione and Ron dashing across a room absolutely filled with treasure, bypassing the great wealth for what is probably a horcrux - on the back of the cover is a picture of hogwarts which means that hogwarts is still very much important unlike theories I've heard to the contrary. On the whole, slightly disapointed with mary grandpre (will we only see the back of the cover AFTER we get our books?) but very happy with the UK Versions.

Posted by Mystic_Marshwiggle Mar 28th 2007

I don't like the US version.... :(

Posted by hprebel311 Mar 28th 2007

Yesssssssss. Oddly enough, every time I wear this Harry Potter shirt, news breaks. Last time I wore it, we got the page count, and before that the title. Yeessssssssss!!!! Great way to start the day. I think they're obviously in the department of mysteries room with the veil.

Posted by MoondustWolf2 Mar 28th 2007

SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! *clears throat* Now, personally, I prefered the last two, just in terms of color and the like, but OMG OMG OMG it's so simple and yet so pretty and so perfect. HP! HP! HP! HP! HP! HP!

Posted by Eilidh Mar 28th 2007

Anyone else notice a house elf (Dobby?) weilding a sword behind Harry in the UK child version?

Posted by Potternuts Mar 28th 2007

OMG! So excited that the covers are released! However I'm rather disappointed with the UK kids version..kind of reminds me of Aladdin with all the golds there.. =x But sure help to suggest what's gonna happen.. :D

Posted by bwof Mar 28th 2007

Yeah exactly my thoughts!! Why the HE** does the uk version have just 608 pages?? Such a huge page difference, over 100 pages!! And I´ll just just get the uk version in my country. This sucks cause after hearing about the page difference I refuse to read a book version that is that much shorter!! does the us version have like 15 pictures or what??

Posted by jessbe Mar 28th 2007

super exciting!!!!
