'Deathly Hallows' cover art released!
- United States Children's Edition - view here
- United Kingdom Children's Edition - view here
- United Kingdom Adult Edition - view here
You can also view a high-res version of the entire US jacket HERE.
Bloomsbury also announced today that the UK edition will be 608 pages long. As previously announced, the US version of the book will have 784 pages, making it longer than GOF. However, the UK page count makes DH shorter than the British GOF (which is 636 pages long). We presume this is due to an increased font size for the US version.

UPDATE: Arthur Levine, the US Potter editor, spoke this morning on the TODAY show about the American cover:
"We're seeing Harry in a very interesting situation. Readers will find out exactly what the situation is.
"When I was reading it, I had both the excitement and the power of the book, and the plot, driving me forward. But I was also feeling a little sad. It's the last time."
When Levine admitted he "sobbed and sobbed" while reading Deathly Hallows, he was asked the following:
"That means someone we like dies, doesn't it?"
"Well, it means it is a very, very emotional book," he responded.

I always thought the arena was purely metaphorical, but heck if I'm complainin'! I don't know what drugs were involved with the UK cover, but it beats their COS one, anyway.
I was suprised to see these were released today, suprised but very very happy. A few things that i would like to make note of though: -There has been no confirmed UK page count -Why does Harry have 1 blue and 1 green eye (US Cover) -There is no confirmation that that is Voldemort with Harry (US Cover) -It looks like the Locket will make it to the final battle -Why are there silver pieces of armour in the Gold (UK Kids Cover) -What is ron doing in green robes (Slytherin) and Hermione in purple (Ravenclaw?) are they dress robes? The US cover reminds me of what the afterlife would be like, in an eternal twilight fiery sky dark red atmosphere kind of thing. All in all im happy, but god knows i dont want this series to end!
The UK children's edition is good, except for the way the three characters are drawn. Hermoine looks more like an illustration is a nursery rhymes book. Harry looks so unlike Harry! But the amount of detail in the UK edition is very interesting: 1) There is an elf( Dobby?) holding Griffindor's sword. 2) There is a lot of treasure around. 3) Harry and Hermoine have bruises on their hands 4) They seem to be falling out of the doorway. 5) The dead tree on the back cover. 6) Is the open doorway in the back cover the same one in the front? 7) The serpent trapped inside the glass bubble - nagaini? 8) The tag - Harry's patronus?
I doubt that Harry would pose like that in an afterlife though. lol. Sorry, couldn´t resist. I noticed the eyes as well, thought they were both blue first though.
I'm very glad that the book release is getting nearer! I'm dying to read it!!! However... I have to say that the UK children cover is the UGLIEST thing I've seen in my life. It makes your hair stand on end and turns you into stone when you look at it! It MUST be an early April Fool's Day joke!!!! Was that rubbish really done by Grandpre? I can't believe it!!! I can't believe somebody got paid for that... I will certainly buy the adult edition. The US cover is simply ridiculous: it is Harry Bullfighter going round the bullring to the sound of a pasodoble (uggghh!) ¡¡¡Olé!!! Anyway... never mind the covers. What's important is inside!!!
There looks to be a shipwreck just in front of Harry (US Cover) Hhmm..haha Spa rtans?..AHHOO AHHOO
omg. oh. my. god. i can't believe it. this is AMAZING. i want the book, NOW. amazing covers, simply AMAZING!
Bwof - I don't remember reading anything on MN or HPANA about the UK page count... I just checked the MN main page, and the only thing about the UK page count was about how it is undecided. And Priyananda, yeah Harry's eyes do look like they are two different colors... or maybe I've been looking at it for too long. Aaand... it seems as though on the US edition, Voldy and Harry are next to some sort of veil. My brain has officially jammed; I've been staring at the cover art for the past 2 hours.
Quiscalus; Look again, then. Because on both of the sites they have confirmed it... Mugglenet says this under the cover art headline ( that is if I haven´t missed something completely :). Sorry if I sound like a broken recorder.
gawd !! we are getting so close to know the end! i really dont want the book now! i dont want all this to get over!!!......the UK cover (kids) is OK , not as interesting as the HBP cover.....the US cover is too orange but not bad at all .....i presume that the location shown on that cover is Hogwarts (looks like it) ....so i guess Harry will definately go to hogwarts! (but its about 7 yrs at HOGWARTS so he has to go there anyway).....My god ! the titles out ,the release date is out , and now the cover is out to!!!!.....EVERYTHING IS GETTING OVER TOO SOON!!!!!
eek! LOVE the uk version. and has anyone else noticed that Ron is NOT holding a sword? there's some sort of creature behind him that is. Dobby, by the looks of it. guess we'll see!
Agreed cool_varzz! Spartans?. .AHHOO AHHOO
@In the UK KIDS cover, an ELF can be seen holding a sword, seemingly riding on Harry's back@ Holy crap, you're RIGHT! That's NOT Ron holding the sword, it's a House Elf! Great eyes, HPFAN2006!
I've got my new desktop wallpaper!!! Oh my, I'm so excited!
It is said 'tis unwise to wish ones life away, but I wish 21 July 2007 would arrive swiftly. Both US and UK artwork is outstanding! OMT
the us cover is... well i'm not english, i'm french and i haven't yet find a proper translation for the title, but what we see on the cover... will harry and voldemort fight in stonehenge lol?
Now, next would be an update on Jo´s site :)...maybe the names of a couple of chapters?!
We should do a protest in the UK to make them redraw the cover so that it actually looks scary and not like something a kid would imagine.
I can't wait to hear MuggleCast speculate about this!!!
Get a life, pigwidgeon.
I'm so excited!!! The both covers are so intriguing...especially US cover....OMG, no more big news to expect...but the book itself...
It's not monotone like the past 2 covers, but it's still nice. I noticed that neither of them has a wand in their hands! I guess they figured out another way to fight in the final battle.
OMG!!!!!!!! *DIES* OMG! !!!!! I feel like the questions are exploding like firecrackers inside me!!!!!! What are they looking at? why are they extending their hands? where are they? who are all those people behind? why are there curtains???? and for the UK one... So many jewels, and the comments... so he's going to the burrow anyways! I bet the party's not gonna be that happy... and then... what is that thing with a snake going from green to white??????? and that mist around Hogwarts????? MY GOD! July 21st can't come fast enough°!!!!!!
Thank you so much for posting this, folks! You rawk, seriously :D I like the design of the US version and I love the colors. What a great image- Harry and Voldemort both reaching for something (my first thought was "The Snitch!" Can you tell I like Quidditch?) and the sunrise... wow. What blows me away is that there's an "adult" version coming out- that, to me, indicates what a coup our JKR has made in reaching all audiences, all ages. This is so exciting!
MAYBE HARRY IS NOT REACHING FOR ANYTHING BUT ABOUT TO ENTER THE VEIL TO SACRIFICE HIMSELF AND KILL VOLDEMORT..AND VOLDEMORT IS SAYING NOOO!! Spartans?..AHHO O AHHOO
Been waitin' for this!! Now perhaps we'll start to get some teaser lines from the book. Brian:-)
Teaser lines would be nice ^^ Iv looked all over the internet but NOWHERE says that the UK page count has been confirmed. Until i see it from Jo i wont believe its 608 Pages. 170 Pages extra in the us version seems a little strectched.
this is so cool! at first the US cover looked really lame but once you can see voldie as well I was like awesome!
OMFG!!! *hyperventilates* I just died! They're amazing, they're ... I can't think now ... this is too much for my brain! Omg! HP will soon be finished for good :( *screams*
yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh hhhhhhhhhhhhhh but it doesn't tell us that much.
WOWJOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! !!!!!!!!!!! finally the cover is ou!!! but then whyis the uk version only 608 pages??????? why...whyy....whyyyy??
I wonder....maybe that vault is at the Malfoy mansion. Dobby still has access to it because he was their House Elf. And he helps the trio get in to find one of the Horcruxes that Lucius is holding (like the diary).
Oh dear - once again, the US edition's cover is LOADS better (loving it)...unfortunately I ordered the UK version already, but the main thing should still be on the inside, don't you think? ;) Well, this will certainly give our many theories a new spin or two...
That 'pouch' around Harry's neck looks like it could be Slytherins locket!
You know Gryffindors Sword was supposed to be Gold with Red rubys set at the hilt.... The sword in the UK child Cover is silver......
Bwof - I see it now... my bad... I told you my brain is jammed! XD They didn't give us a souce, which I find really wierd. 170 pages is a bit of a strech... I would think it would be a difference of 50-70 pages, NOT 170! That's really weird... MN, I demand a source for the information about UK DH being 608 pages! Just kidding.
In the chapter "Horcruxes" in the HBP, Harry says its the difference between being dragged into the arena or going in with your head held high and that makes all the difference in the world. Looks like this is that arena! What do you guys and gals think?
AAAAAAAHHHHHHH! I just set it as my wallpaper...though it took forever to get the proportions right! I CAN NOT WAIT!
WOW! The cover for the U.S. version looks fantastic! The lighter color background gives it a kind of spooky look and feel, but it works well. A great looking cover!
MN definitely confirms 608 for UK version, and I believe I saw it also on Leaky. I'ts certain. US 784, UK 608.. Leaky is loading very slowly this mornng. Hope no server trouble. The artwork is great. UK is interesting in who's riding on Harry's back. US... A wandless duel? Hmmm.. Harry looks like he's going out for a pass. (I'm open! Gimme the ball!). We'll know soon. But not soon enough. OMT
608 pages. That is ridiculous. And has to be wrong. GoF was 634 pages! And HBP was 607! It. Has. To. Be. Wrong. What size font is the U.S versions? 48???? Dear lord!
Hi, All Iâve just printed off the US and UK covers at work, I ran to the printer before any one else could get there. But anyway, just been analysing the covers. I like the UK version more because it gives you more to analyse than the US version. I however, donât like Harry on the UK version, he looks American heâs all chiselled features, British kids donât look like that (Iâm from England by the way) but I suppose Harry is 17-18 in this book. Anyway, I think Harry, Ron and Hermoine are tumbling into the Room of Requirements, which was mentioned in HBP where Harry hid the HBP Book. Remember Harry saw that it was a room full of old objects left by previous students from goblets to frizzbees etc (second guess itâs Gringotts). Theyâre obliviously falling into a room and not falling out of one. And also Hermoine looks to be in her nightdress to me and Ron looks like heâs wearing a Slytherin cloak. Just surreptiously looking at the UK cover again whilst everyone is hard at work . . . well theyâre pretending to be, I think most of the are on the net like me. Just noticed that Dobby (think itâs Dobby not Kreacher) is behind Harry, you can see heâs fingers and ears. It is Dobby/Kreacher holding the sword not Ron as someone else said. I think the sword it Gryinddors (forgot how to spell the word and donât have time to think too much about it) because it has a ruby on the base.
The difference between the UK and US versions of OotP was about 130 pages, so they can be quite big. But this is the biggest yet. Any way of contacting Bloomsbury or Scholastic to find out why?
I visited amazon.co.uk, and it didn't say anything about the page numbers, though it did have the cover art. Does Amazon ever put up the amount of pages? Just curious. HPDH2007, I haven't thought of that!! That's pretty clever... I didn't think it was literal!
OMGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG GGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG GGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG GGGGGGGGGGGGG
If you look at the UK child Cover harrys robes are ripped.... and i still see dress robes but why is ron in green???
Although the book seems shorter than HBP and GoF, remember that Bloomsbury have used two fonts before - the fonts in GoF and HBP were larger than the ones in PS, CoS, PoA and OotP. It looks like they've gone back to using the smaller font this time, which means the book will still be longer than GoF, even though it has fewer pages.
OMG the US one looks like the viel!!!! I mean the colloseum-like surroundings and the drapperies... sigh And the UK one... isn't that Hogwarts!? Guesse that answers the question will they return to hogwarts :) sigh I felt something good was going to happen this week :D
Blomsbury uses a smaller font and closer line spacing. 130 pages difference does seem lik alot, but Bloomsbury confirms it according to MN. Scholastic uses a wider line spacing, and larger font. Also, Scholastic includes chapter art, which Bloomsbury does not. All this makes for a higher US page count. OMT
This may be just me, but does Harry still have his scar in that picture? I know his hair is right in the way of where it should be, but I don't see it.
