Bloomsbury also announced today that the UK edition will be 608 pages long. As previously announced, the US version of the book will have 784 pages, making it longer than GOF. However, the UK page count makes DH shorter than the British GOF (which is 636 pages long). We presume this is due to an increased font size for the US version.

UPDATE: Arthur Levine, the US Potter editor, spoke this morning on the TODAY show about the American cover:
"We're seeing Harry in a very interesting situation. Readers will find out exactly what the situation is.
"When I was reading it, I had both the excitement and the power of the book, and the plot, driving me forward. But I was also feeling a little sad. It's the last time."
When Levine admitted he "sobbed and sobbed" while reading Deathly Hallows, he was asked the following:
"That means someone we like dies, doesn't it?"
"Well, it means it is a very, very emotional book," he responded.

Ron is not holding the sword. its a house-elf!! Which one though!?! Bit disapointed about 608 in UK...nice though i guess as its same length as HBP! Coincidental!
HE'S WEARING A NECKLACE! THE LOCKET!!! oh my gosh i am spazzing i am so excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but look closely at the US version...THERES SOMETHING AROUND HIS NECK!!!!! ahhhhhhh! -hannah h
Okay, well the US cover tell us nothing, and the UK cover looks chessey.
wicked cool I love it! mostly because of how diffrent it is but what I more want to talk about is the UK cover? the trio in a pile of jewels and treasure and what i assume to be dobby behind Harry holding a sword? and can anyone tell what is up with that sphere thing on the inside jacket at the bottom (bottom left of the jacket) it appears to have a serpent inside or something
Dragonprincess25, did you not look closely? Neither Harry nor Voldemort have their wands, and Harry has what appears to be Slytherin's locket around his neck.
I find all three couvers to be equally intriguing and fascinating. And it's great to finally see the Golden Trio together on the front
Honestly, I want a short paragraph from a chapter now!!!!!!!!!!! Please?
I fudge LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IT KICKS ASS!!!!!!!!!!!
Are Harry and Voldemort beyond the veil in this pic because they are beyond curtains? And for the UK cover are they in Gringotts? I was shocked when I saw this cover b/c I expected the exact opposite colors like black and grey but I think this is up there with 5 for the best cover (talking about the US covers)
okay did anyone notice that there is a necklace around Harry in the US version?
I'm not going to sugar coat things... I hate it. It's downright boring compared to the rest of the covers. It doesn't have the vibrancy that the others had. And the colors? Yuck. I hate that shade of orange mixed with the red of the text. All in all I don't like it. And I still don't like the title at all. Whatever. I'm sure I'm going to like the actual book but right now the title and cover and release date are the only things I can harp on...
OMGAH! Yeah! I'm so stoked! Hurry up, July!
I'm sure everyone's said this already, but here's my observations: On the U.S cover, Harry and Voldemort look like they are reaching for two different things. Voldemort looks like he's reaching for Harry, but Harry's either oblivious or just doesn't care what Voldemort's doing, because he's reaching for something above him. Neither of them have wands...this could be because they both know that no matter what spells they cast, their wands will offset eachother and none of their spells will work. As to where they are, my guess is the veil, haha. See the curtains? See the funky Stonehedge look to everything? It reminds me of the Dept. of Mysteries at any rate. Also note the figures in the background. Could be the mysterious callers from the veil, or it could be Death Eaters. Truthfully, we will know much more after the inside jackets on the U.S book are released and the summary's given. The U.S summaries are far more reveiling. the UK adult book just has the Slytherin Locket. Big whoop. The children's addition is more intriuging. Firstly, what is the orb-snake-window-thing? Secondly, why is Prongs on the inside jacket again? Also note Hogwarts and the Forest are still there, and I have always thought a Horcrux has to be there somewhere. With Harry, Ron and Hermione, my guess is they did one of two things 1) Broke into Gringotts or 2) Found all of that stuff at Grimmuald Place. The Trio all has injuries, and Hermione looks like she's crying. The House Elf is either trying to stab Harry or is on their side. The only evil House Elf is Kreacher, which leads me to believe they are messing with Black heirlooms, which could still be in a vault at Gringotts. There.
I am literally crying - half with happiness, half with sadness that this is the last time we will have seen the book's cover without knowing what's inside! Too many clues from the UK version!! AARRGGHHHHH! My head hurts... Horcruxes, Hogwarts, golden doorways, treasure!? *Faints from excitement*
Beautiful. The art that Mary Grandpre has created for this work only solidifies her reputation in my regard as one of the greatest artists of our time.
I might have to buy the UK version just for the cover. :)
OK i have had a quick look at that symbol, please dont flame me. It seems to be a blend of 2 celtic symbols, one is the Triquetra. The Triquetra can mean a number of things, in christianity it is shown as the Holy Trinity. It predates christianity and is also know as the symbol of the godess and also the symbol of Odin. It can also represent the division between Earth, sea, sky and the animal kingdom? Most interesting is that it is also described as the power of 3, acting as one. Combine this with the Solar Cross. It can represent the solar calander and also the movement of the sun marked by the solstices. Not sure about the solar cross but the Triquetra sounds right.
AHH! The UK edition is hideous! Sniff...
WHOHOHOHOHOHOH!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!! that looks freaking awesome i cant wait to read it. 114 more days!!!!!!!!!!!1
Wow. US: I really like it, I think. Harry and Voldemort seem to stand in some sort of Colosseum... Harry wears the Locket... there seems to be people around them... it seems as is Harry reached for something .. for power or something ... and it seems as if Voldemort retreats from the light. I like the US one:) UK: I really like the adult one. The Locket looks magnificent! The "normal" one though... frankly, I hate it. A good thing is that they showed it all, so that we now know that Harry will be escorted by the Order when he leaves Privet Drive. Ok... but the front cover? WHAT are they DOING? What's with the little silver dragon? And the gold? And why do their faces seem red?:p Their expressions are a bit ackward... I like it that the sword is on the cover... what's remarkable is that Ron holds it in his hand. And why are they sort of falling? Why do they try to grab the money? I'll go look again. I think it's an ugle cover, but it is certainly interesting:)
This is what I learn from the covers: - Harry will find the real locket (he’s wearing it on the US cover) - He will stay at the Burrow at some point - We will see house elves or, at least one of them (it is a house elf, right?) - Harry and Voldemort will meet (big surprise…) - They will all be scared at some point Im shure there's a lot of other things hidden in there, but I'm not that good at analyzing..
Hmmm there's not much to go on in terms of guessing what's going to happen... It seems as though there were many more clues in the other covers
OMG thats so cool! question though why do they look like there in gringots and why is dobby with them? I can not weight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!
Here's a link to the Today Show: http://today.msn bc.msn.com/id/17828868/ From this site you can watch the clip. The U.S. editor reveals the cover art and talks about how emotional the book is!
Ugh, the children's UK one is bad! Love the adult one though! And - OMG - it's exactly like the entry I submitted for the DH cover contest!! WOW! I sooo have to win now! lol. can't wait till the book
OMG!!!!! I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!! and i was thinking, on the uk childrents version, could all that treasure stuff be 'gold bribe below st. mungo's'? (the droobles best blowing gum thing)??? I CANT WAIT!!!!!!
Oh, I was wrong! I had a second look and it is not Ron holding the sword... it's probably Dobby! Look, there's 7 hands visible... and the one that's holding the sword is either one of an elf or a goblin. The other hand is on Harry's shoulder and you can see a little bit of head, with a pointy ear... why would Dobby be holding Gryffindor's sword? I like the idea, though:)
My observations from the US cover: 1. They're in a Colosseum-esque arena, possibly the veil room with the top blown off? 2. Neither has a wand - the final battle will be wandless due to Priori Incantatum? 3. They're both reaching for something - the last horcux or a wand? 4. There's rubble in the foreground, both wood and stone. Maybe they're fighting on the remains of Harry's home in Godric's Hollow. 5. They're being watched from one side of a curtain - obviously it's a different color, but could it be beyond the veil? 6. There are a bunch of people in the background, maybe Voldemort (I assume) and Harry are battling on a stage. Who's watching? Deatheaters? Order members? 7. Based on their bodies, it looks as if Voldemort is trying to stop something whereas Harry is trying to beckon something towards them. Possibly they're looking at whatever form of love is going to be the end of the Dark Lord. 8. I don't see a scar on Harry's forehead. Was it exorcised for being a horcrux? That's about all I can notice for now. I'll take a look at the UK version here in a bit!
Ok i have just read through all the comments and NOBODY has commented on the fact that in the UK kids version....THERE ARE TWO MIRRORS...COULD THESE BE THE TWO WAY MIRRORS?????? also about ron and hermiones robes i personally dont think theres not anything special about that. in previous books the kids always wear muggle clothes dont they and the adults wear robes. Im guessing that because they have come of age they now wear robes all the time. im so hapy that the sword is there too hoorayyy oh and i dont think that necklace is the locket. i think its a pouch wirh something inside possibly another horcrux. I wonder why hogwarts looks SO white. i mean yeah ok its bathed in moonlight but it looks a bit too white. and i cant work out the snake in the crystal ball. i love the faces in shawdow looking at harry and voldy in the US version too *sigh* just think we will never experience this again!!! its the end of an era!
BORING!!! I miss the busy overs of the first four books, I personally think that Mary Grand Pre is slacking with all the space taken with the sky. Fill some pages Mary!!! Give us some detail! Don't tell me she is restricted either, she could totally pick another scene which is rich in detail and provides little in the way of plot details. I love the colors but just wish more was brought to the table.
Beautiful!
Absolutely beautiful .
If you look at the bottom left of the UK childrens, there is a vest from a suit of armor. In the reflection there appears to be some sort of large scaly creature which looks to me like a basilisk. There also appears to me to be a basilisk on the back cover. Are we going to revisit the Chamber of Secrets again! It would seem so. Also, when I first saw the treasure on the cover of the UK Childrens I thought of Gringotts. Either Gringotts or there is treasure hidden in the chamber of secrets also. And Prongs?? Yes, I would say the UK Childrens cover is deffinately most revealing of things we may see in the next book! This should be interesting!
Wow, I was looking at the cover art and I just started crying! I think I finally actually realized that after this book there will be no more Harry Potter! I like the UK Adult and US versions the best. I don't really like the UK children's version.
Look at the US version, look how the T in deathly slices the O in hallows. Its the same shape that we see on the spine of the UK child Version. ---- Sorry for posting sooooo much but im excited.
OH. MY. GOD. I ABSOLUTELY AND POSITIVELY LOVE IT!!!!!!!!! IT IS SO AWESOME LOOKING!!!!!!! I'M SO EXCITED, I CAN HARDLY STAY STILL!!!!!!!!! THIS IS GOING TO BE ONE HELL OF A SUMMER!!!!!!!!!!!
OK. Here's my take on it: UK Child Version: The colour scheme's pathetic. I mean, Black, Orange and Purple?!? Eurgh! Hogwarts at the back looks sexy, but oh I wish it would have merged into the front cover like HBP and OoTP's did. But oh well... Front part: I think that's their search for THE LOCKET. Because they're looking through treasure-sort-of stuff, and I bet it's the stuff Mundungus nicked from Sirius's house. Notice Ron holding a sword. Whoa! Maybe Godric Gryffindor's?!? I hope so :D! Then you'll also notice that no one's holding a wand. That is highly significant! Perhaps they've moved on to using magic without wands? NOTE: Even in the US version, there ain't no wand :P Okay, the stag shown in the inner leaf is obviously Harry's Patronus. Hmm. Thank god. We'll be seeing the Dementors again! Yipee!!! And well, the snake in the crystal ball probably means we'll see more of the 'Troll if ever I saw one' lol, ie, Trelawney. She's going to predicting Nagini's fate or something, it seems! And the circle-in-the-triangle thing is totally inexplicable. Perhaps a sign or indication of symbol for a Horcrux? After all, Marvolo's ring was shown in this place in HBP! Hmm... Overall, I think the cover isn't that great :( Ron's supposed to have RED HAIR for HEAVEN's SAKE! And Harry's looking pretty dumb I think. Well w/e. But we sure know the book's not dumb, and that pretty much all we care about, DO WE NOT?!?!?! :D:D:D:D:D:D Yippee!! I'm so excited!! ~ A w r e c c a n ~
On the UK Children's cover: - You can see the house elf's right hand on Harry's right shoulder; it looks like he's riding on his back. - Harry's left forearm looks pretty mangled. A snake bite?
I also noticed that Dobby (or another elf) is Behind Harry, his head barely visible, his right hand on Harry's shoulder and his left hand holding the sword brandished in the center of the picture. At first I thought it was Ron's hand but I noticed it was smaller and paler than Ron's which prompted me to look closer. Yea! More Dobby! (Hopefully!)
OMG! Harry is WEARING the LOCKET!!
omg. anywho...rons not holding the sword...thats a houseelf hanging onto harry, maybe dobby....(in the uk kids version) and the us cover is so intense with action....harrys scar is possibly gone, somthing is around his neck (locket?) their in somewhere we dont know about...ahhh the list goes on...
So, Lots of Rubies, Suit of Armor, Lots of Gold Galleons, Griffindor's Sword? Perhaps Griffindor's or Dumbledor's Vault at Gringotts? OR, If Harry was left things by Dumbledore, maybe his own vault... There have been theories (By Brandon?) that there will be something happening underground at Gringotts. Oh! July will not come soon enough!
OMG! It is so cool!!! I just can't wait!!! It looks so great!
So.. now I've commented on the covers... 608?! How is that possible? It is not only the exact number of pages of HBP, but how can it be 176 pages shorter than the US one? I mean, with HBP, the UK one was also 608, but the US one was only 60 pages longer... how can the difference be almost thrice the previous difference? Nooooooo! Maybe it was a typo and it's actually 708:) That would make sense... but I'm fooling myself right now. Let's look at other sources:)
OMG the UK version SUCKS. I'm so annoyed I'm not american and can buy the gorgeous US version. In the UK one Harry looks so darn UGLY! That's not him at all! I want to cry. What a horrid way to spoil which should be an exciting experience. I'm not going to be able to look at my UK version. I hate living in England, we get the crappiest cover :( I'm gonna buy the US one. It's beautiful, and a great representation of Harry.
Is that NAGINI in a silver ball, uk cover, very bottom left? And what does that circle inside a triangle mean at the top of the uk cover? Something to do with ANCIENT RUNES maybe?
OMGGG!! Finally. :D I love it...but it sure doesn't give away too much eh? But I like the color scheme. Very nice end to the series. The other version reveals much more...the trio swimming in treasures and jewels? Ooooohh...! Wowzers. *sings to the tune of 100 Years* "..we've only got a hundred days, to wait..." Well, 106. :/
woooooo idk if its cool or weird.. i dont know what to think =/
I want to know if the spine for the US edition says "Year 7 at Hogwarts" !
Alright this is what I think. First, I think Mary Grandpre has outdone herself once again, she is such a talented artist its unbelieveable! Second, if you look on the UK adult version, you see a metal, or something, which I believe is the same one around Harry's neck in the US version. Third, I have no idea where they can be, but there is splintered wood, people (DE's?") watching, and I think that Harry and Voldemort are reaching for a wand, and whoever catches it first has the upper hand at the killing curse at their fingers. In the children's UK version, you see Harry reaching for something, which looks like hes reaching for a helmet. A horcrux maybe? And as for the orb on the children's version on the side jacket, I think it represents the prophecy and the tool that Dumbledore used during fifth year when Harry had the dream about Mr. Weasley.
