MuggleNet's Decade in Review | MuggleNet's April Fools Day 2008
Deathly Hallows Info | MN/TLC Interview with J.K. Rowling
MuggleNet reviews 'Deathly Hallows' (or not)
Happy April Fools'! We hope you enjoyed our prank this year. Judging by the comments, if it showed one thing, it's that most people will read Book 7 spoilers if they can get their hands on 'em (though, admittedly, we did make our "reviews" somewhat hard to avoid)!
Check out the joke at the link below.

Last Sunday, we received a very, very surprising call from the Harry Potter publishers. They wanted us to have a preview of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. As you can imagine, we were utterly flabbergasted. We, just like you, weren't ready to read the book, but we couldn't pass up that opportunity, now could we?
There's a catch. The publishers requested we only inform them of our thoughts on the book, and not post them online. But we really can't do that to you guys! Only a few of our staff members have so far finished it, and a little glimpse at their feelings can be read below. More will be added throughout the day. Enjoy... and shhh!
**Spoiler Alert**
"Dumbledore's triumphant resurrection, complete with the gaudy descent from the heavens on Sirius' motorbike was completely and utterly unnecessary...but at least we now know where the motorbike actually is and the significance of where it went after Book 1." -Brendan
"I couldn't believe Snape was the long lost love child of Aberforth and that goat. It explains so much, including Severus' appearance. And we now know why he told Harry to never call him a 'cow'-ard, because he was in fact part goat." -Micah
"It was great to find out what happened to Ollivander. I loved it when he walked into the Order meeting wearing a pink Hawaiian shirt, a straw hat and sunglasses and received a room full of blank stares. It was particularly funny when Lupin turned and said, 'Well, look who decided to show.'" -Andrew
"I always had an inkling that there was more to Hermione; her immediate knack with magic, and her irregular mood swings towards supposed 'friends,' Harry and Ron. I should have known she'd switch to the Dark side eventually. I just wish she hadn't killed the whole of Ravenclaw in the process - I suppose it was just her annoyance at not being sorted there initially." -Ciaran
"Funny how things turn out, who would have thought Ron would become the ninth member of The Weird Sisters. Ron with long hair and living the rock star life? Shocking!" -Rachel
"I couldn't believe Harry slipped on a slice of carrot cake and fractured his pelvis. I thought it was uncalled for humor in an otherwise serious and superb book." -Jamie
"I never thought the wizarding world would get their revenge on Snape; however, I commend JKR for proving me wrong. The Order using spells to hold Snape down and wash his hair multiple times was the worst kind of punishment imaginable for him." -Mandie
"So Dudley's worst memory when attacked by the Dementor was being told he had to diet." -Nick
"I still laugh every time I think about Draco and those geese. I guess it's not just sleeping dragons you're not suppose to tickle." -Natalie
"Who knew that J.K. Rowling would employ the use of the often-frowned-upon literary technique referred to only as 'the dog ate my homework gag,' when justifying the location of the seventh Horcrux?!" -Eric
"I was completely shocked to discover that Cedric Diggory has been alive this whole time, getting his laughs in by standing behind the veil and whispering. As for Sirius... all I can say is after a year of making that thing flow in the wind, Cedric was in need of a 'Sirius' snack!" -Laura
"The symbolic revelation that Dumbledore is actually an Animagus living in the form of a bumblebee does not do much to disprove the theory that Harry Potter is a children's book. However, after Voldemort's tragic and gruesome death caused by the shift in gravity and the moon falling down to earth, crushing him beneath it, I'm pretty sure this is a book mothers all over the world will be keeping far away from their children." -Roni
"I should have known that Luna was Harry's mother Lily in disguise. They're so similar to each other!" -Emily
"Well, we all guessed it ages ago but now it's finally confirmed - Dumbledore is the Giant Squid!" -Becky
"I knew it! I knew it! When the Muggles came and totally obliterated everyone at the final battle, I was totally ready for it. Although, I admit killing every major character in the series was going a bit overboard, especially when Neville got hit by that bus after all was said and done. I didn't know JKR had it in her!" -Tom
"Seven books, countless hours, and many tears, just to find out that Harry defeats Voldemort not with love, but a Muggle handgun?!" -Rachael
"I can't help but cry each time I think about the dramatic return of Sirius Black and how he died again only seconds after being reunited with Harry. And I never would've thought Neville would be the one to wake up at the end and realize it was all a dream. Good one, Jo!" -K'lyssa
"I think this is the first time I've ever seen corporate sponsorship of a novel. I was, quite frankly, startled by Jo's decision to make Voldemort's eight (yes, EIGHT) Horcruxes be hearts, stars, and horseshoes, clovers and blue moons, pots o' gold and rainbows, and a red balloon. Even worse were the subtleties throughout when Ron would say things like, 'This Horcrux hunt is magically delicious, Harry!' Honestly..." -Ryan

He he. I forgot what day it was. I believed it too...until I read Micha's comment on the "book"

Lol, they had me for a sec. HAPPY APRIL FOOLS DAY!!=)
that was pretty funny (the comments) i especially liked the one with cedric. The first one i believed but then i read the second one, and knew it was a joke. I just kept reading them 2 c what they were saying!! :)
That reallly got me for a second. I kept reading it again and again, and then I was like, oh shoot, its an April Fools joke :/
Before I actually got to the comments my heart stopped and I had to x out of the site because I didn't want to see the comments. Several angry and amazed thoughts passed through my mind before I actually read them: why aren't the spoilers written in black like the other ones in the past bc I don't want to read them!!, and, no matter how hard i try to avoid reading these, I will find them online somewhere else and book 7 will be ruined and my I'll cry, and oh no Mugglenet can't do this and they are going to shut down :-(! EMERSON, HOW COULD YOU LET THEM DO THIS?! and then.. oh.. it's april first. I'm a moron.
oh that totally got me. until i read about ollivander. haha.
omg i didn't even realize it was an a.f. joke until the third one! gosh, you guys are mean!
u totally had me ther especially wen u sed "dumbledores resurection"!!!!!! i could hav killed u all!!!!!!! very sly tho not as good as LeakyMug.com lol
omggg...that was so not funny b/c i totally belived ..lol...but it was` really good. U GOT ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!
"hearts, stars, and horseshoes, clovers and blue moons, pots o' gold and rainbows, and a red balloon." "'This Horcrux hunt is magically delicious, Harry!'" "Dumbledore is the Giant Squid!" "Harry slipped on a slice of carrot cake and fractured his pelvis" "Harry defeats Voldemort not with love, but a Muggle handgun" Should I go on?
You guys are soooooooo funny! For a second there I really tought you were going to share something, though I know perfectly you wouldn't be the ones to betray a promise of secrecy! But you gave us a good three minutes of laughter. Thanks a lot!
That was so hilarious!! At first I read the post and was slightly confused, but then it dawned on me: April Fools Day. Harry slipping on a slice of carrot cake just about killed me! Jamie has the greatest sense of humor.
you almost caught me there!!!! but you turned yourselfs when you created 2 different deaths for Voldemort... gotta be more careful :P
April Fools on us... I almost didn't rea it because I didn't want to be spoiled. Then I figured, what the heck. I thought the first one was real, about DD showing up on Sirius' motorbike. I couldn't believe what a spoiler that was, how shocking! ... then after reading the second one I caught on. These "thoughts" were fantastic, too funny.
Oh my goodness!!!! When saw the headline and started to read further down my heart just literally leaped out of my chest I was SO surprised and felt guilty that I had ruined all of the book's secrets for myself. Ha ha...wow, I guess I was just a little bit slow today... IT WAS AN APRIL FOOL'S JOKE of course! When I read that part about Hermione joining the dark side I was thinking...no, no that could never happen. LOL
I can't believe I fell for it for a second! Happy April Fool's! hahaha
LMAO!! I really believed they were real spoilers until i read that snape was a goat..then i was confused and i finally realized it was an april fools joke..haha..LUCKY CHARMS! But nothing beats the Leaky Mug..THAT was hilarious!
HAHAHA! I think it is possible Snape is the child of the goat and Aberforth though...
OMG! You just about gave me a heartattack!!!
I hate being gullible! When I got to the second one, I knew it couldn't be true. Aghhh.
I was expecting a joke so I didn't fall for it, but you guys really made my day! I've been coming to the site every hour or so to see if anyone updated! Loved it!
April Fools! =D
aw man... so not fair. Funny, but altogether unfair! Hearts, stars and horseshoes.......haha
HAHA!! Those were some pretty darn funny comments. I was expecting some goofy gag just like last year, but this was pretty funny. I specifically appreciated the gag about Harry defeating Voldemort not with love, but a Muggle handgun! That was great. And, that Lucky Charms one was just HILARIOUS!! OH MY GOD I laughed so hard at that. The Horcrux hunt is magically delicious! OMG!!
ahh that scared me!! i was like WHAT!!
darn! I saw that post and actually believed it for a while (I didn't read past the spoiler warning.) Then I looked at my computer's clock and remembered what day it was. I'm so gullible.
omg!!! i just called everone i know whos obsesssed with hp!!!!! good one guys!!
Yeah, April Fools to you, too!
Happy April Fool's Day!!! And happy birthday to Fred and George. And if you guys actually read the book (I know the comments were made up) tell me everything. Actually don't. Just swipe me a copy of the book!
HAAAAHAAAAA I am embarassed to say that I believed this for the first few seconds... then I read the "spoilers". Hah. Good one guys, I didn't think you would let us off without a prank this year!!!
you guys got me for a little while..but once i read it i knew it was fake pretty nice prank guys!
Happy April Fool's Day, everyone!! Still not as good as last year, tho...
Gasp...must not look.. april fool's day???
What did they do last year for April Fool's day???
LOL! I woke up this morning and checked Mugglenet and I'm like OMG maybe i shouldn't read it. But I always spoil things for myself so I read it of course. I thought some were a little bizarre, but I thought they were true nonetheless. And then I read comments, and I remembered. It was April Fool's Day! I'm such a doofus! LOL! I should've thought they wouldn't break a promise like that or even if they did, you would have to highlight it! This makes you feel so stupid if you believe it! I should've been on the watch!
Oh wow. I didn't even realize it was April Fool's day xD They got me good.. I'll admit. Especially since the first line of the first 'spoiler' is almost believable after JKR talking about Dumbledore giving her problems. I even sent them a complaint xD Wow, yall got me good this year!
"Sirius" snack. Haha Laura, nice.
Jeez, y'all are worse than the mods! You had me there for a sec, posting it a day early and all, but that DH would fit in the Humour section on MNFF...~ Monty
Hi J.K. Rowling and everybody else, If you don't want to know the end of the story, don't read this. My friend and I have been analysing the different covers and this is the conclusion we came up with. First of all, the UK adult cover doesn't unveil anything... However, in 'unveil', there is 'veil', and if you look at the UK children version, you can see the arch in the background, but without the veil. So we looked for it on the US cover and there it is, on the either side of the cover, revealing the destroyed arch whose wooden bits and stone fragments you can see in the foreground. What confirms it is that the setting described in book 5 around the arch is that of an amphitheatre, whereas on the US cover, you can see an arena, both architectures being similar. No doubt, both Harry and Voldemort are near the veil. But the difference is that Voldemort is beyond the veil because he doesn't fear to die as he's immortal thanks to the Horcruxes left. On the other hand, Harry is standing before the veil on the illustration (the wooden bits are behind Harry). But soon... Harry will step beyond the veil too in order to destroy the four Horcruxes left, namely: Voldemort himself, Harry himself; the Slytherin locket worn around Harry's neck, and the very last one that both Harry and Voldemort are looking at on the cover. But there's a huge difference between them: Harry's trying to catch the object (his hand-palm is turned face up) whereas Voldemort is trying to push it away so the ultimate Horcruxe doesn't come through the veil, leading to his final destruction. So in a sense, Harry is sacrificing himself to kill You-Know-Who. This scene is the very last one of the 7th book (both Harry and Voldemort dying), which confirms JK Rowling's interview where she says two characters die in the last chapter. You think we've spoiled everything? Not yet... The shadowy people who are in the background are none but the Deathly Hallows that Luna heard whispering beyond the veil in book 5....
after reading the first paragraph i knew it couldn't be true, hahaha
L0LS! that was funny you guys. i especially loved the last one "review" : Even worse were the subtleties throughout when Ron would say things like, 'This Horcrux hunt is magically delicious, Harry!' Honestly..." -Ryan L0LS! that was indeed funny =) happy april's fools everyone!

(this is the continuation of the previous message) whispering beyond the veil in book 5. Oops, have we said too much? Good day, The Spoiling Hallows PS: you'd better hurry to guess things because we'll be back to ruin your theories again... Love xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.
Seriously, my friends and I thought this was all true, until we got to the comments. Then we're like, DUH! in hindsight, some of it is pretty riduclus. HAPPY APRIL FOOLS!
I'm all for some spoilage with regards to book cover art or up coming OOTP movie reviews etc., but not when it comes to a personal account from someone who has actually gotten to read the last book already! This is one piece I will graciously skip over and not read! But I wish much enjoyment to those who don't mind being spoiled prior to reading the last book themselves.
that comment before me is kinda interesting...
I. Am. So. GULLIBLE.
I'm such a sucker. Seriously, I wouldn't even read past the spoiler warning because I thought this was real. It wasn't until I walked past a deli giving out free sandwiches (ha ha april fools!) that I realised there's NO way they got to review HP7! Good job Mugglenet.
haha - very funny they had me going there for a second
