New dinosaur species named after Hogwarts
A new species of dinosaur has been discovered. The species is named 'Dracorex hogwartsia' after Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. A replica of the dino skull is on exhibit at the Pennsylvania State Museum. On May 22, the Pennsylvania Satellite News Service will have a special live video feed to the Pennsylvania Historical Museum where paleontologist Robert Sullivan will describe the naming of the species.

Thanks to Kenny and Alisha for sending this in.

Posted by NEtikiman May 20th 2006

Harry Potter, kickin' it nearly as old-school as you can get.

The image of "Draco Rex" in my head is just wrong. I see a giant sized Malfoy, five stories tall, with dino jaws and teeth stalking through London, spittal glinting from either side of his mouth. He rounds a building, steps into an open square filled with people who freeze only long enough for their mind to verify what the eyes are seeing...Draco Rex Lives. Then cars smash, Draco Rex roars and swipes at those scurrying at his feet. Screams rip from their throats, suddenly ceasing when their necks snap in two. Draco Rex notices Hermione dressed for the Yule Ball, the one he'd been searching for, desperate to find. He sweeps her up, lumbers off to the tallest building, nimbly scales the building, moving impossibly fast for something so large. He reaches the summit, sets Hermione away from the edge. They share a quiet moment as the Sun rises. Then, dots appear at the center of the glowing orange orb, grow larger, larger still. It's the Griffyndor Quidditch team flying in formation, wands at the ready, Ron in the lead. Jinxes fly. Draco Rex jumps, swats, beats his chest, screams his frustration. Hermione waves, signals, desperate for the world to join SODoFF (Society of the Dracorex Friends and Family)....I think we all know the ugly end to this one... Like I said...there's something incredibly wrong about the image of "Draco Rex" in my head :) LOL

it's so nice to hear that harry potter is affecting the world in such amazing ways! maybe in the future, kids will have to read harry potter, like say -romeo and juliet, and analyze it! but it's cool that a dinosaur got named after jk's world!

Posted by TDeSou May 20th 2006

Why would they name a dinosaur species after Hogwarts? Isn't that a little bit childish? It is na little bit strange if you ask me. This comment is posted by Timothy (TDeSou).

Posted by aspiring_witch May 20th 2006
