Everyone who is saying that Equus is 'stupid' etc, obviously hasn't seen it. Dan is a brilliant actor and the play is fascinating. Focusing on the nudity is pathetic and narrow-minded. If you'd actually bothered to find out anything about the play, you'd know it's only a very small part of the play and is actually in context, it's not pointless, gratuitous nudity. Grow up.

Look folks, before you go making all these unfair and untrue comments about the play, all I'm saying is that you should read it for yourselves. Most of what people are complaining about (having sex with horses, blatant nudity, etc.) does not happen. It's not a very long read, you could finish it in a couple of evenings, probably. Dan will have time to do a Broadway run, starting Summer 2008 (next year). It is to be fitted in easily as they expect the final two films to be made more quickly as most of the cast are over 16 or will be, which means they are no longer restricted to the 4 hours a day filming rules which apply to child actors in the UK if still at school. David Heyman said the two films back to back will take only about 5-6 months each and they start work in August. This is easy for a September Equus launch on Broadway. Dan and Richard know their parts already!

I read Equus a few years ago in a theater class. It's a strange play, but also very good. I would like to see it someday, but I live too far from New York City to get to Broadway.

I'd love to see it...but unless it comes to OZ....! Is it just me or does anyone else find that whenever Mugglenet posts anything slightly un-HP-related.... i.e Equus, Tragedy in Virginia, people start fighting? It seems Harry Potter brings harmony but as soon as we come into the real world, well real issues, some of us (not mentioning any names he-hem just look in these posts) get a bit TOO carried away. Two Letters, one word: Ok. I'm surprised that Equus is already on the road to broadway, I don't know if it comes by Australia, that would be fantastic if it does. I'm not so sure about me watching it though, I'm only 15 and Lord knows my father wouldn't let me touch a picutre of a half-naked guy with a ten-foot pole, let alone watch Dan naked in Equus and I go beet red whe I see naked people lolz. I am proud of him though, and I'm going to admit that this is a bit unusual to me, I see Dan as the little boy of 11 who did SS a few years back and him doing broadway, all grown up... kind of hard to get used to. I'm one of the those who have always defended Dan's decision to do this project. It's a briliant play and it has done wonders to Dan's career. But this time, I hope he won't join the Broadway production of Equus. Maybe it's the dream of all theater actors to go to Broadway but Dan has already proven his worth as a theater actor. If he does more theater, that will leave him with less time to do more projects. Let somebody else become Alan Strang. Although from what the producers are saying, they're closing the play cause they can't find a good enough replacement for Dan. There are plenty of good actors around I know, but very few got Dan's boxoffice appeal. It's hard to market a dark play like Equus. Just look at how some of these people here are still complaining about it. lol

I hope he does it, and I hope they can make it fit in his schedule. If they won't do it voluntarily, he should insist. He has to start thinking more about his life after HP. He has a LONG career ahead of him. I can definitely see this play getting a Tony award. And for the record, no one has sex with a horse, and the nudity is only a few moments out of the whole thing. It's just not true that the whole thing is about weird sex and nudity. The Braodway critics are NOT going to be looking at Dan as a messed up Harry Potter. They're going to be looking at his Alan.

If he finds the time it would be great if he comes to NY! It's great to perform in Broadway, and when a play is a success in London it's normal they transfer it to NY. He loves theatre so he is free to choose if he wants to do movies or keeping doing theatre, which is fantastic too. Greatest British actors do both movies and theatre. It's funny to read some of the comments here, I don't know how old are some of you but some comments show so much ignorance, your ignorance about the play, about theatre, about your own country. American critics have already written great reviews for the play and Dan. The play won many American awards, a Tony, the NY crtitics circle award, the movie adaptation won 3 Oscars nominations. We all know the media is stupid and they only like to sensationalize, that doesn't only happen in America, it's the same in the rest of the world. Who cares what they can say? Dan doesn't care, he has proven it many times, he is too intelligent to choose things just because of what some people would say. Those same things some of you are written are the same things you wrote when Dan choose to do the play in the West End, he proved all of you were wrong, and it was success for him and his career. :) That's what hurts you lol I feel pity for the bashers, their ignorance, their need for attention and their negativity, they would be much more happy if they were positive. :)
