Bloomsbury employs security measures for DH
The British Harry Potter publisher has revealed some of their security measures to ensure the magic of Deathly Hallows is maintained until July 21st.

According to The Scotsman, the book will only be delivered to bookshops one day before the release and they will be sealed in crates bound by steel chains. Furthermore, security guards will be deployed to printing plants, and Amazon has agreed to store its copies in warehouses at secret locations.

i think all books should have a personal body guard, lol. 1st!

Posted by princessa_2004 Apr 25th 2007

wow, that sounds crazy! 2nd

Posted by Annie Apr 25th 2007

LOL @ steel chains.

Posted by queeny Apr 25th 2007

haahaa! thats great! thats would be soo funny to be a body guard who was told "hey your going to be guarding DH" would they like take a chain saw if soneone tired 2 get the chains off? lol :D

Posted by muggle_magic Apr 25th 2007

oh my! thats kinda scary. i understand though.

Posted by Dobby4ever Apr 25th 2007

That much for a book? Understandable in some ways, but it seems a bit extreme, doesn't it?

Posted by miles Apr 25th 2007

"steal chains"? lawl.

Posted by brycesgirl Apr 25th 2007

Cool, that is totally understandable1 Top ten?

Posted by EowynRowena Apr 25th 2007

Well I can see that some people would probably try to steal a book, but I personally wouldn't even if I could - it just wouldn't be the same, would it?

Posted by constancedh Apr 25th 2007

thats HILARIOUS. but if you think it's extreme, think about the fact that if there wasn't so much security there would be a million spoilers. and it would be *spoiled*.

Posted by kan Apr 25th 2007

VACANCY???? I WANNA BE DA GUARD!!!!

Posted by Regulus_Black Apr 25th 2007

Wow! It just shows how much J.K's books have affected us. Wow, imagine that as a job: Harry Potter DH guard... lol. Cant' wait for the book!!

Posted by pigwidgeon Apr 25th 2007

that sounds so cool! and it's not too extreme - it was supposedly secure last time but information still got out. I read the chapter titles on the internet 3 days before.

Posted by MichelleLynn Apr 25th 2007

thats kind of crazy, but i guess its a good thing - i def dont wanna be spoiled before reading the book!

Posted by smellysocks Apr 25th 2007

i'm more worried that someone will tell me spoilers and ruin it for me than i am about what will happen in the book!!

Posted by Norn Apr 25th 2007

dang steel chains and gaurds? dang imgine what jk rowling go through to even publish the book!!

Posted by Felix_addict Apr 25th 2007

"steal chains"? Lol, is that some kind of pun? ^_^ Anyway, I think steel chains just won't be enough. They ought to use steel boxes lined by diamond (which is the hardest substance on earth so no one will be able to open it!) and then use diamond and steel chains to bind it. Wait, how will we get our books then...? :p

Posted by Lis_damuggle Apr 25th 2007

geezus steel chains?! now thats crazy for books, funny though especially since the books have guards also lol

Posted by Josh06 Apr 25th 2007

At all costs I think it should be taken in the most serious matters possible. If you think about it there is someone who wants to ruin for everyone. So therefore I am not picking up the book myself I don't want to hear anything if someone would happen to leak out information. I am not listening to any television that week. I'm keeping myself off the internet.. I'm reading the book on my time. I'm avoiding them the best I can.

Posted by ninja58 Apr 25th 2007

haha, wow that's crazy, funny, sorta expected but coming as a shock, and understandable at the same time. if that makes sense...

Posted by knowitall Apr 25th 2007

"steel chain" That`s a bit too much if you ask me.

Posted by dinky_diddy_kins Apr 25th 2007

Wait what happened to the snippers?

Posted by benmanu Apr 25th 2007

they call the order of the phoenix to guard the books lol

Posted by hogwartsempress Apr 25th 2007

lol... Owl Lupin! He'll know what to do!!! Well I'm in Kuwait and (lol- That would be in United Arab Emerites) and i DOUBT they'll seal the boxes with ANYTHING! for All we know, They'll have the books out the day they get them hah.. (Kuwait just doesnt Care. There arn't too many Harry Potter fanatics in UAE as it's an Islamic Country and it's bad) But I don't care... I'll be the first in line to get it!!!!!!!

Posted by antinous Apr 25th 2007

Steal? Is that made from iren? Children read this site. Learn to spell.

Posted by Quiscalus Apr 25th 2007

Good!! I hope this will help prevent spoilers. Antinous, the irony is killing me. They used the right 'steal' and it's *iron*, not iren. LMAO.

Posted by Quiscalus Apr 25th 2007

OMG MY BAD!!! I didn't read the whole news post because I had already read it on Leaky, so I thought it was to stop people from *stealing*. LOL. I feel like such an idiot. Hem. I'm hungry and so I'm not thinking straight... Sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry. :-/

Posted by diagongirlie Apr 25th 2007

*fills out application for security guard job right now*

Posted by sticky Apr 25th 2007

hey cool..that way NO-ONE can read it early and ruin the book for us......this will definately prevent spoilers, but still if someone still managed to spoil it but i dont think they will be able to with the security i will personally attend to them....

Posted by vampire_killer Apr 25th 2007

I love how steel chains is spelled "steal chains" in the article. ;)

Posted by FawkesyGrandpa Apr 25th 2007

i wanna be the guard so i can read the book at night when no one but mes there!!! thatd be awesome!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by Atsuko_Chan Apr 25th 2007

darn, chains? That's security alright. O_O

Posted by hermione84 Apr 25th 2007

All that for the last book!!!! wow!!

Posted by h_boo Apr 25th 2007

haha. the "steal" think is pretty funny.

Posted by julietsurvives Apr 25th 2007

Actually, I'm 100% with Josh06. Right after OOTP, I probably won't leave the house. I'll say inside and wait 'til DH is knocking at my door waiting for me to open it. And if I do go out, I'll probably listen to my iPod wherever I go, turned up all the way. This is the one book of the series that just shouldn't be spoiled. I think it's completely appropriate for the security measures they are going to!

Posted by DeeLorRo Apr 25th 2007

Its official. Harry Potter is more important than the president.

Posted by oofa Apr 25th 2007

Um...it's "steel" chains, not "steal" chains...

Posted by i_loverz_HP Apr 25th 2007

hahhahahah YES harry potter is the biggest thing ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 i cant wait until the midnight opening for the book already got one reserved now i just have to sit here and wait for it and go crazaaaay AHHHH!

Posted by HJaneGranger Apr 25th 2007

it's been said, but i'll repeat it. "steel", not "steal"

Posted by hpwiz812 Apr 25th 2007

wow, talk about protection....86 DAYS!!!XD

Posted by SiriusEqualsLuv Apr 25th 2007

lol steel chains and sealed crates.

Posted by deathcabforcutie Apr 25th 2007

STEEL CHAINS. HA. but i still wont go on any harry potter website like all of july because what if they do get out!?! i would be so dissappointed,

Posted by snapefan4 Apr 25th 2007

No offence or anything, but don't you think a body guard AND chains is a little bit overkill? And besides, the books might feel like they are in prison. = )

Posted by britishwannabe Apr 25th 2007

Good. Steel chains. lol Dormanthegr8, I agree that each book needs it's own security guard!!! If somehow a spoiler got out (and they always somehow do) and it came on Mugglenet, I would be crazy mad.

Posted by dementor Apr 25th 2007

lol steel chains. but incase a rumor does get out, I'm not coming on mnet at all that week!

Posted by smurff Apr 25th 2007

haha woah thats insane. on the one hand, im so happy because that crazy reduces the risk of spoilers, but on the other... *pats Bloomsbury on the back* calm down hunny

Posted by halfbloodking Apr 25th 2007

If the books are delevired only a day prior to release this could create some viable problems, such as travel time and such is this a problem?

Posted by PotterManic Apr 25th 2007

I'm as much a Harry Potter fan as the next guy but that does seem a little extreme. It's just a book (admittadly a great book). But chained up crates and guards at the printing plants? Is it a book or a top secret government experement?

Posted by HpAlwaysN4ever Apr 25th 2007

Good, I'm glad. Unfortunately you know some store is going to make a "mistake" and someone is going to read the book early. And it's not fair if librarians get to read it early too.

Posted by potter5674 Apr 25th 2007

it is kind of extreme but understandable
