'Order of the Phoenix' PG-13
According to Warner Bros.' new Dumbledore's Army website, the fifth Harry Potter movie will be rated PG-13 in the United States. OOTP is the second film in the series to receive this rating; Goblet of Fire was the first.

It should be PG-13, because the books get steadily darker... First???

Posted by Nimue May 10th 2007

Sounds about right for the rating.

Posted by Harrysgirl21 May 10th 2007

I have a feeling all the rest of the HP movies will be PG 13.

Posted by j_wulfric May 10th 2007

I reckon thats pretty fair because the viewers will have to deal with more adult themes throughout this film and the ones to come

Posted by AliceFO May 10th 2007

Mt cousin will be gutted, but its a fair rating, it shouldn't be any lower than that.

Posted by queeny May 10th 2007

wait so is that like a 12? or a 12a in scotland?? lolz!

Posted by elven_welfare May 10th 2007

I think it's a fair enough rating. As long as I get to see it, I don't really care what it's rated. LOL

Posted by dracodragon May 10th 2007

I knew they would never be able to keep the PG rating.

Posted by Quiscalus May 10th 2007

Not surprised. If GoF was PG-13, I don't see why OoTP wouldn't be. I would've been surprised if it was PG.

Posted by sirius_rox May 10th 2007

Cool! ;)

Posted by dumbledorephoenix May 10th 2007

I think that that is a fair rating, and I think that we all saw it coming. We knew it wouldnt be rated R, and definitely not PG, with the deaths and all.

Posted by RedHeadNuphar May 10th 2007

Lucky I can see it!! 15 rules... :)

Posted by asleep_at_the_moment May 10th 2007

so thats a 12A in england then. i thought so. not that i mind as im quite a bit older than that...

Posted by JKrowlingismyIDLE May 10th 2007

i am 1333. i am glad it is rated pg 13

Posted by anglone01 May 10th 2007

yay no little kiddies. thats good.

Posted by james_prongs May 10th 2007

In Canada that will be either PG, or 14+ and we all know that it won't be 14+!!

Posted by muggle_magic May 10th 2007

Does that really surprise anyone? I expect the rest of the movies to have that rating too.

Posted by citywiz May 10th 2007

Lol, you do know that you can still watch PG-13 movies even if you aren't 13. Like I used to watch them when I was 10. No parent accompanied me either.

Posted by Illusions May 10th 2007

YESSS. The rest of the movies should get that rating too. It's getting darker after all.

Posted by _Stoltz_ May 10th 2007

Yeah, yeah, yeah...

Posted by eyeheartlupin May 10th 2007

Thank goodness it's PG-13. If they made it PG that would definitely ruin the feel of the movie! Hmm at the rate they're going, is the DH movie going to be rated R? Haha.. j/k, j/k..

Posted by Riniel May 10th 2007

Yay!! I like that they're pg-13 now people take them more seriously that way. I dont know what all the fuss was about parents complaining here when GOF was pg-13, there were still kids in the theaters.... But I'm happy I dont have to worry about ratings ^_^ 63 more days!!!

Posted by Prefiera_de_Gryfalco May 10th 2007

Excellent! I had heard rumours it was going to be PG and I thought "noooooooo!!" I like keeping with the darker tone. I agree, eyeheartlupin! Maybe by the time we get to HBP and DH, it'll be R!

Posted by eekitserica May 10th 2007

YES! NO CHILDREN ALLOWED! BRILLIAAANN NTTT

Posted by DA_Spartan May 10th 2007

Half-Blood Prince will be PG -13 as well. No doubts. Hell, for all we know Deathly Hallows could be rated R...

Posted by Ithilwen May 10th 2007

ohmygee, are we surprised? lol. "no children allowed" ha there will be kids there, i mean parents take their kids to see horror movies, i don't think a little harry potter movie will suddenly make them stay away...

Posted by SugarxSpunxQuill May 10th 2007

yay lol x is this the same as 12a in england????

Posted by DA_Spartan May 10th 2007

Okay, Deathly Hallows WILL be 'R' worthy. But, WB won't allow that because they will lose major revenue.

Posted by Dobby4ever May 10th 2007

That doesn't surprise me. I mean, the thestrals, the fight in the ministry, sirius' death, all kinda creepy for people under the age of 13. My friend was 14 when he saw GoF in the cinema. And the wuzz had a nightmare about Lord Voldemort! LOL!

Posted by granger1019 May 10th 2007

so surprise to me at all. PG is too small and R would just be too big. PG-13 is just right to me. Of course, they aren't going to get any higher than that. I Highly doubt WB is going to allow HBP and DH to become R rated movies if they are childrens books!

Posted by CarlosRascon May 10th 2007

OMG only 63 days left for the movie I cant believe it, right around the corner.

Posted by CarlosRascon May 10th 2007

It was the kiss, the kiss is responsible for the rating. Hmmm Im happy, I dont think DH is going to be Rated R unless Some thing wierd happens...like Harry and Ginny getting intimate. I dont think JK would write that, would she?

Posted by SugarxSpunxQuill May 10th 2007

CarlosRascon, i doubt it, it would sound like a fanfic! (which i love btw lol x)

Posted by CarlosRascon May 10th 2007

Yes i agree with citywiz, you do get to watch the movies even if you are not 13 yet. and you don't need a parent to come with you, at least here in Las Vegas you dont have to. I am 17 now and I get to watch rated r movies by myself so I dont see what the fuss is all about, after all everyones gonna get to see it. Now if it was rated X or NC17 then we have a problem lol.

Posted by scurvy_cur May 10th 2007

not surprising really. hehe i was just playing the Ddefence game, i realised they want us to cast incendio on people!!! thats a little harsh isnt it! at least the AK is quick!

Posted by i_loverz_HP May 10th 2007

Lol......thats cool i guess the kissing scene must be pretty intense and the violence whatever i dont care as long as i get a ticket to the midnight premiere im good. :]] yeahhhh

Posted by stareyed_in_LA May 10th 2007

That is great, but it still won't keep out all of the noisy eight year olds. My best friend went to go see Borat, and she told me that there were eight-year-olds in the screening room, causing alot of ruckus.

Posted by K8y May 10th 2007

Then that would make it 12A in the UK -Yes! I love the HP films given a non-kiddy rating; it helps to shake the absurd image of HP as a children's series... that REALLY rubs me up the wrong way!! Can't wait for July!

Posted by luv_hp_4ever May 10th 2007

HEHE!!!!!!! i am actually glad that it is PG-13!!!!!!!! this is a dark book!!!!! and god i_loverz_HP i really hope that the kissing scene isnt violent.... who knows what that would mean... yeah, i am happy and completely unsurprized that it is PG-13... i cant imagine it as a PG movie... probably pg13 for language (they always have a little...), and violence or scary scenes or something... i dont think it is pg13 cuz of harry and cho's kiss... at least i hope not cuz that might be a little awkward for the lil'uns... lol... i am soooooooo excited about seeing it!! i cannot wait!!!!!!!!!! but i am sooooo completely going to see it at midnight and i will be there at like 11 on the 12th and preorder my tickets at fandango!!!!!!!!! 63 DAYS LEFT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ! ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!! !!

Posted by mrs_black May 10th 2007

so is that like a 12 in billy shakespeare country (england for all u non- georgia nicholson fans lol)??????? spose it makes sense cus the books are gettin darker as they go on..... i wonder if they make it very brutal if HBP could scrape a 15??? nah it wouldnt do!

Posted by Serena May 10th 2007

I highly doubt that the kiss is the reason why it's PG-13. If that were the case, we'd have no PG or G movies out there! xD Either way, the rating of the movie doesn't affect any of my feelings about it. Just bring it on!

Posted by harrys_wand May 10th 2007

I hope DH isnt R or else therebe minor hp fans swarming hollywood making terror burning houses etc.

Posted by ellenfreak3 May 10th 2007

THANK YOU. If it were to be lower than pg-13 I would have been soooooooooooo mad because then I would have known that they didn't stay true to the book at all, if GoF would have gotten a higher viewer rating. But I'm happy it's PG-13 because that gives me some hope. And pft! who cares if they make one R! (I doubt that would ever happen though.) I'm sure the kid's parents would let them see it anyways, knowing it's just HP. (I don't really care because I'm 18...haha)

Posted by sirius_rox May 10th 2007

Yeah, it was kind of obvious they were going to make it PG-13! I can't wait for the movie!! :)

Posted by CarmelFlavoredLipstick May 10th 2007

Is anyone surprised? No? Good.

Posted by zacharypotter May 10th 2007

awesome! this obviously makes prefect sense, since it's darker than even GoF. Somehow I really think that HBP could get a PG, just because it's not as intense as some of OotP. We have no way of knowing what DH might be rated yet, but my preliminary guess is definitely a PG-13. No Harry Potter movie would be rated R unless somebody has the clothes ripped off em by a spell or something, which prolly wont happen. haha. alright. PG-13 for sequences of Violence and Frightening images. cool.

Posted by phoenixknight May 10th 2007

NAWW, IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE RATED G! IT'S FOR KIDS ANYWAY RIGHT? (FOR ALL YOU SLOW PPL OUT THERE, I WAS BEING SARCASTIC, LOL) ANYWAY, ANY OF YOU GUYS WHO THINK "THE FEW CUSS WORDS AND KISSSING IS RATED PG-13, THAT'S CRAZY! GO TO THE HP WEBSITE! IT'S RATED PG-13 "FOR SEQUENCES OF FANTASY VIOLENCE AND FRIGHTENING IMAGES", THE SAME AS GOF. I KNOW THIS ONE IS ALOT DARKER THOUGH, I LOVE THAT! IF ALL OF THE SCARRY THRILLER STUFF FROM HARRY POTTER WERE ELLIMINATED, IT WOULD BE A PG, OR POSSIBLY EVEN A G MOVIE. ONE CLEAN KISS WON'T MAKE IT A HIGH RATING, I MEAN DUH! THEY KISSED EVEN IN KID MOVIES, LOOK AT PRINCESS DIARIES OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT. AND THE CUSSING IS JUST PG-RATED. ANYWAY, I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE MOVIE!

Posted by andycaro May 10th 2007

I agree...the audience has grown and matured right with the characters...to go back to PG would have been insulting.

Posted by phoenixknight May 10th 2007

yea, i agree andycaro, still, I just hope that DH will be rated R, haha! I wouldn't care, i would love that, i'll be like 20 then anyway, and this upcoming book is going to be like WAR BLOODBATH! not for kids whatsoever!

Posted by fadnin2beautlite May 10th 2007

I've been waiting for them to announce the rating. I'm really happy that they gave it a PG-13 rating and I would have been pissed off if they had given it PG.I also hope that it will be rated R by the DH.can't wait to see it!
