'Order of the Phoenix' PG-13
According to Warner Bros.' new Dumbledore's Army website, the fifth Harry Potter movie will be rated PG-13 in the United States. OOTP is the second film in the series to receive this rating; Goblet of Fire was the first.

Rating DH R would be killing themselves... only the die-hard fans would see it. Very few families... they wouldn't be able to sell toys to kids... it just wouldn't work. The rest of the series will be PG-13 or PG. I'd put money on it.

Posted by HpAlwaysN4ever May 10th 2007

Ok I'm not surprised though. I think all the movies from now on should be PG-13.

Posted by kaze_ May 10th 2007

If they had rated OotP anything other than PG-13, I would have been very very surprised. It's a pity parents will still probably take their little, often highly annoying children to see the movie, though. T_T (Seriously, if some kid starts ruins the MoM scene and Sirius's death... ARGH.) Though it's highly unlikely, I'm hoping DH will get an R rating. At the same time, I DON'T want DH to get an R rating, because the box office opening will be MUCH higher then. (I want DH to break all records! ^__^.)

Posted by timetoxflyx May 10th 2007

Glad to hear it. I would have been upset if it was PG or something. =)

Posted by LindaW May 10th 2007

I am not surprised. I mean, what else did anyone expect?

Posted by jen_92 May 10th 2007

I'm glad that it's rated PG-13. I mean if it's PG it usually gets labeled as a kiddie movie, which it's not.

Posted by lu_2 May 10th 2007

has anyone seen questions already?? the ones you can win tshirts with...

Posted by dementor May 10th 2007

finally i've been waiting for this. i was afraid it would be PG but thank god its not!

Posted by ccunni May 10th 2007

I agree that it should be PG-13 because the book is puite scary and sirius does die so that is good

Posted by Ravenclawswisdom May 10th 2007

I'm not surprised that it's PG-13. The books are getting darker slowly. I highly doubt that Deathly Hallows will be rated R. If it is there'll be an angry mob of people, whom have parents that won't let them watch R rated movies. Now about what people said about children in the movie theater, some of them can be rather annoying, but most of them aren't. I remember very well mannered children at the movies, some even better than the adults and teenagers.

Posted by siriusblackhead May 10th 2007

Come on, people. There is no way that they would make any Harry Potter rated R. Even Deathly Hallows. PG-13 is the limit

Posted by harrypotteretard May 10th 2007

PG-13 is a good rating. Less 5 year olds screaming in the theater that way. But they would never make DH rated R. And I doubt very much that HBP is going to be rated PG. You can thank Won-Won and Lav-Lav for that one.

Posted by harrys_metamorphmagus May 10th 2007

PG-13 is definately fitting, the books are getting darker, and so should the movies.

Posted by phoenixknight May 10th 2007

HEY GUYS! I REALLY DO THINK THAT DH SHOULD BE RATED R, I MEAN LOOK AT IT! EVERYONE WHO HAS BASICALLY GROWN UP WITH HARRY POTTER WILL BE IN THEIR 20'S, SOME EVEN 30'S WITH THE LEAST BEING IN THEIR LATE TEENS. ANYONE ELSE WHO'S TOO YOUNG, SORRY FOR THEM, THAT MEANS THEY WERE TINY INFANTS WHEN HP WAS FAMOUS. HP APPEALS TO THE GROWING FANS WHO ARE BECOMING ADULTS. I'LL BE 20 THEN GOING ON 21. AND I KNOW MANY WILL EVEN BE OLDER THAN ME! I MEAN THIS IS WAR AND PURE EVIL! THIS WILL EVEN BE MUCH WORSE AND DARKER THAN LOTR!

Posted by braders101 May 10th 2007

haha Oh well to all the ickle children

Posted by DanielRadcliffeIsSEXY May 10th 2007

Great! And not so great. I want to see it even more because I'll be 13 while its out, but I want to see it with my 11-year-old friend. I guess its ok though, they saw GOF and didn't get scared. I wasn't scared by anything in Harry Potter.

Posted by DanielRadcliffeIsSEXY May 10th 2007

Eragon was PG and there was so much violence! Everybody who wanted it PG-13 should of been a bit more nicer to the younger kids who love the Eragon series. Harry Potter GOF deserved PG; it was just like the previous ones before that. But OOTP- well, I wouldn't care what it was rated (even NC-17, but I doubt that!) I would see it! It's PERFECT!!!!!!!

Posted by 12grimmauldplace May 10th 2007

Obviously it's not gonna be PG, what with all the death and fighting, and I dont see why WB would even think about making it R because all the kids would start writing hate letters and whatnot. :P lol. including me!

Posted by hprocks May 10th 2007

I agree with the PG-13 rating...somehow, i had a feeling that this would be the rating since i first read the book. But...knowing the 4-year-old banging on my seat at Spider-Man 3, it won't stop the little kids... R for DH? Cool, but a little extreme...Yes, its getting darker and more mature, but HP is still in the children's section...

Posted by hgshipper31 May 10th 2007

i knew it was gonna be PG-13 but i don't think it's because of the kiss cause it said PG-13 for sequences of fantasy violence and frightening images. But if they leave the Ron/Lavender kissing bits in HBP then that might be too intense for little kids. i'm 12 but i look 13 but i've been going to PG-13 movies since i was 8 so i think there will be little kids there. there were in GoF. well it's almost here and i don't think DH will be rated r cause i don't think any movie series has gone from pg to r so it's unlikely it'll happen but still, who knows? I'll still go see it anyway!

Posted by hplover179 May 10th 2007

Sweet! can't wait to c it! :D

Posted by MrsRoXtarPotter May 10th 2007

well I expectred nothing less... did anyone?? but woohoo!!! go 14!!!! yeah baby! I'm actually ALLOWED to rlly see this one! lol.... my parents don't really let PG-13, but HP was never a problem... but it's great to be 14 anyway!

Posted by K8y May 10th 2007

Hey guys - thought I'd just let you know that VTM is reporting two new trailers; don't get too excited, though - they're basically the same as the International ones, though I think by watching them that there are a few new bits at the end and some shots from the previous ones are held for a few more seconds, making them a bit clearer, an example of which is when everyone is falling in the DoM and stop before hitting the floor. Check them out here: http://www.slashfilm.com/ 2007/05/10/new-harry-pott er-and-the-order-of-the-p hoenix-uk-movie-trailer/ and here: http://www.apple.com/trai lers/wb/harrypotterandthe orderofthephoenix/trailer 2/ sorry if they turn out to be the same, or anything, but I think I noticed some new stuff...

Posted by deathly101 May 10th 2007

i hate being 12!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but i'm still gunna go watch it!!! i dont care if its PG-13! 63 days left!

Posted by snapeward777 May 10th 2007

i completly agree with fadni9n2beautelite, RATE IT R!!!! lmao

Posted by GreenInsanity May 10th 2007

I didn't expect anything more or less than PG-13. The sad part is that those pesky little kids will still be there. Gr!!! They completely ruined PoA for me, and I was annoyed by them when I saw GoF almost as much. WHY do they have to come? It's not like they're huge fans if they're so young. I mean, a six year old trying to read OotP? Not unless they were really smart...

Posted by Harryfan20 May 10th 2007

I was on Fandango and it had Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince movie coming out November 21, 2008. Harry Potter and the Dealthy Hallows movie release date is Januaray 1, 2010.

Posted by DanielRadcliffeIsSEXY May 10th 2007

If DH is out on the beginning of the new year, we will be psyched!!!!!!!! I hope they won't rate it R. NC-17? LOL

Posted by FawkesFlames May 10th 2007

I think we all kinda figured after GoF was PG-13, they can't turn back now because the series gets darker... I don't think that DH will be R, though, that would never happen.

Posted by veronikaS May 10th 2007

don't you guys ever credit anyone? other sites were reporting this news ages and ages ago...i'm so sure you just randomly thought to check the film rating all the way at the bottom of the screen after someone else did... *rolls eyes*

Posted by Susan_Bones May 10th 2007

ok, no matter how dark DH is, WB is not going to rate it R. I know all the fans know that it's not a kids series, it's still labled as one by most people.

Posted by britishwannabe May 10th 2007

Goody. PG-13, PG, R....whatever. It's Harry Potter and there is nothing in this world that's gonna stop me from seeing it anyway. This makes me alot more excited!!!!!

Posted by DanielRadcliffeIsSEXY May 10th 2007

I just went on the MPAA's site and a trating for OOTP isn't listed. MPAA is who comes up with the ratings, anyway. Thanks for the false news, Mugglenet!

Posted by grednforge May 10th 2007

well, I guess we were all expecting that, but it's still great news!

Posted by seventhsoul May 10th 2007

Yeah, it was to be expected, but all the same, IT'S NEWS. the fact that it's such a highly emotional time for Harry what with his godfather dying and all, and all the intense fighting scenes, is what makes it pg-13. But even though the tone of the film is definitely far removed from the much-lighter, although still sinister Sorceror's Stone, there are many comic relief moments. the pranks and skiving snackboxes of fred and george relieve the stress a lot.

Posted by tigerlily8 May 10th 2007

Well, yeah, I was kind of expecting it.

Posted by potterlovver814 May 10th 2007

DH is so not going to be rated R. Come on-- it's Harry Potter. Yeah, some of the messages and plot stuff is intense, but none of it is not okay for little kids to see. But whatever, I'm old enough to watch it whatever the rating is.

Posted by hedwig101 May 10th 2007

So what if thier PG-13? My dad won;t let me NOT see the movie. My 8 year old sister is going to see it!

Posted by Every_Villain_Is_Lemons May 10th 2007

Big surprise. *Rolls eyes* Obviously the rest of them are going to be PG-13. Doh!

Posted by mithril95 May 10th 2007

ugh...i hate hate hate being a mature harry potter fan who's still young. i'm not thirteen but not much younger, but i watched an R movie when i was 9 (Matrix)...no big deal. anyhow, i wish to assume that by 'children' you're talking about eight and under, as my friends and i (11 and 12) are not immature...well...not enough to disturb viewing. i do agree though that i don't want younger children screeching because their not-so-smart parents let them watch a scary movie. but nontheless please please don't insult kids under 14 because they really don't deserve it. also harry potter is not per se a children's series, but i read it first when i was 6 and got it...don't underrate kids, please, because we're a lot more intelligent than you 'mature adults' think. and for my sake i hope DH isn't R because i won't be old enough to go see it...actually, i will if they do it so 16 yr olds can go in with 17 yr olds! yay! because by that point no one 12 and up will want to go with their parents

Posted by Pirate99 May 10th 2007

Pefectly understandable. If it wasn't PG-13 it would kinda suck... ofcourse, its supposed to be darker.

Posted by SpewingSlugs May 10th 2007

Thanks god, there would have been such major editing if they kept it PG.

Posted by hermy_rocks May 10th 2007

i'm glad it's PG-13! there's no turning back now, all the films after OotP will probably be PG-13... and this shouldn't hurt the box office because most of the fans now are over 13 and most kids will see it anyways, either with their parents or friends

Posted by chillcat May 10th 2007

"Yaahooooooo! Waaaahoooo" amen Akon in the "Sweet Escape" by Gwen Stephany! =] luuve that song, otherwise it's just stuck in my head and symbolized the ecxite ment i'm going through right now..... PG-13! coolio, this is definetely an excuse to make my friends watch it! Yay! I'm soo excited now! hope this is final! It's probably going to be scary and real enough to smack audiences across the face to tell them how serious this is gonna be! =]

Posted by dobby_rocks May 10th 2007

I’m sure the rest of the movies will be rated. PG-13. No way will DH will be rated R, it’ll be PG 13. Rating don’t matter; people of all ages are going to go see them regardless. If DH was rated R(which it wouldn’t be) , you would still have tons of people under 18 going to the movies, they just have to have someone over 18 (possible 17 in some states) go with them, or they'd try and sneak in. Of course this would be hard to do right away with HP since it most likely will be sold out. If you don’t want kids in your showing go at a later time there will be very few if any.

Posted by hpintwense06 May 10th 2007

That's the rating I expected. I really didn't think they would go back to PG after the last movie was PG-13. cooolness

Posted by medieval_weewil May 10th 2007

yeah right, because the harry potter fans that are under 13 won't watch it anyways. BS

Posted by sillyme May 10th 2007

thank god! i mean the book is basically rated pg13, since it is so sophisticated, so the movie has to be.

Posted by Micino May 10th 2007

Yes! I'm glad to know they are keeping the movies mature as the characters mature. If this was PG(with all the "magical violence") after GOF wasn't, that would be ridiculous.

Posted by mzweasley May 10th 2007

well duh its gonna be rated PG13! however i do think the last two movies are gonna be rated r..judging by what i read in HP6.
