Movie 5 casting changes and announcements
Movie 5 casting changes and announcements Helen McCrory will no longer play the part of Bellatrix Lestrange in the fifth Harry Potter movie as she is currently pregnant and will be heavily so by the time they film the Ministry scenes. She is set to be replaced by Helena Bonham Carter. Helena played the part of Charlie's mother in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Apple Brook, who's appeared in stage, TV and film productions for more than 25 years, will portray Care of Magical Creatures substitute teacher Professor Grubbly-Plank.

Finally, the younger versions of Sirius, Lupin, and Snape (who all appear in "Snape's Worst Memory") will be played by James Walters, James Utechin, and Alec Hopkins, respectively. Also, Jason Piper will "play" the part of Bane the Centaur. Whether or not he'll simply lend his voice for the role, we don't yet know.

Let the destruction of the next Harry Potter book continue....

Posted by Nightshade May 25th 2006

I saw it posted on teletext for Newsround and I was OMG, no way, she was totally who I thought should play Bella! I was disappointed when I first saw it was someone I wasn't familiar with, but Helena has an amazing range as an actress!

Posted by esclave May 25th 2006

OH MY GOD! SO GOOD!

Posted by scurvy_cur May 25th 2006

aww i really though Helen McCrory would make an great Bellatrix, but what you gunna do! Anyway I'm sure Helena Bonhan Carter will be excellent too she is a brilliant actress.

Posted by pen_magic May 25th 2006

Posted by friggintoaster May 25th 2006

ohhh! I liked the other one better

Posted by Mafalda_BR May 25th 2006

Ah wow!! I just love Helena!!! I think she has everything Bellatrix need and she is such a great actress!! hehehe it will be great if Tim Burton, her "husband" directed the next movie, with her!!

Posted by scurvy_cur May 25th 2006

Posted by esclave May 25th 2006

Oh god, I really really want to see them too! Who's doing Peter and Lily?

Posted by iwishiwashermione May 25th 2006

Posted by Nightshade May 25th 2006

*has day off* I'm on the hunt! *goes to search for actors*

Posted by M_Ho May 25th 2006

The McCrory/Carter news is very disappointing. Hopkins? http://www.newburytheatre.co.uk/archive/200312h.htm

Posted by Nightshade May 25th 2006

Helena played an evil character in Merlin (ironically another wizardy story)

Posted by xXSophieXx May 25th 2006

omg wow!!! she'll be great as Bellatrix n i love all her work ive seen so far... i cant wait any longer 4 OOTP!!! :)

Posted by Nightshade May 25th 2006

Apparently this is meant to be Alex Hopkins, close up pic that M_Ho linked to. http://www.hpana-media.com/images/news/19429/alechopkins.jpg

Posted by esclave May 25th 2006

Her terrible oscar outfit? What was it?

Posted by Jamandell_d69 May 25th 2006

Helena Bonham Carter as Bellatrix!!! YES!!! This is fantastic news, and she is a fantastic actress, fingers crossed that she can pull off the evilness...because I can't seem to remember her ever playing a nasty person.

Posted by Mary May 25th 2006

No offense, but I largely prefer Helen over Helena. But I'm GLAD they finally cast the young marauders and Snape, I can't wait to see a pic of them and I hope I'm not disappointed.

Posted by Nightshade May 25th 2006

This is Apple Brook, playing Prof Grubbly Plank http://news.bbc.co.uk/media/images/41685000/jpg/_41685020_apple.jpg

Posted by Lynn May 25th 2006

NO!! They had the perfect Bellatrix =( I saw her in Charles:The Power and the Passion, and she was born for the role...

Posted by Elphie May 25th 2006

helena yay! I was hoping she'd find her way into an HP movie! acutally, I always thought she'd make a good Tonks...... for some reason. Can't wait to get some screen shots!!

Posted by Luke May 25th 2006

I'm actually really appy with the choices, especially Grubbly-Plank! Movie 5 has to be the best cast out of all the HP films.

Posted by _code_red_ May 25th 2006

we have names! hurrah! it's funny that both Sirius and Remus are named James....

Posted by Clamshell May 25th 2006

Oh, she'll be wonderful. That Brook woman seems allright, too. Please, someone! Find pictures of the Marauder pictures?

Posted by Mug May 25th 2006

Whoa!!! Helena's cool. Infact she was my first choice for Bellatrix. Splendid.

Posted by Mafalda_BR May 25th 2006

Is this Jason Piper? http://www.thestage.co.uk/images/pics/5115.jpg

Posted by Nightshade May 25th 2006

I wonder if James Walters is any relation to Julie Walters...?

Posted by Mafalda_BR May 25th 2006

yeah, i thought of that too!! James Walter spmehow related to Julie Walters, but maybe it's just an impression but i don't know if the pic i've posted is the real jame piper .. it is said there that james piper is a dancer. He surely must have the shape to do a centaure but i don't know if it is really him. can somebody confirm that?

Posted by Nightshade May 25th 2006

I can confirm that Charles Hughes is young Peter Pettigrew and Susie Shinner is Young Lily Evans, but I can't find any pictures right now.

Posted by Darius May 25th 2006

Is this really young Snape???!! They really want make us love Severus ^_^

Posted by Noodle May 25th 2006

I'm telling you, I've seen a picture of this "James Walters" and hes no sirius.

Posted by browncoat May 25th 2006

And there I was thinking the substitute teacher for Care of Magical Creatures would be left out. 0_0

Posted by susanova May 25th 2006

oh, Elphie, she's MUCH too old to play Tonks, even with LOTS of makeup.

Posted by Nightshade May 25th 2006

oooh, wait, if Grubbly Plank is there then we'll see unicorns!

Posted by Darius May 25th 2006

Eeeerrr there MUST be smthg wrong, now the link for "alec hopkins" goes to the photo of Apple Brook...?

Posted by browncoat May 25th 2006

Same case with me, Darius. Must be a fault in the html coding.

Posted by Mafalda_BR May 25th 2006

nop, i'm seen a boy young boy here hehehe the link is ok.. try this. have you tried this? http://www.hpana-media.com/images/news/19429/alechopkins.jpg

Posted by Walburga May 25th 2006

These actors have impostant parts to play. They better not make mistakes. If anyone is in contact with them please make sure that they have read the HP series. I also agree with what xxwitchxx said, let the destruction continue.

Posted by Darius May 25th 2006

It's ok the link has just been corrected ^_^

Posted by The_Phoenix May 25th 2006

Helena has always annoyed me- i dont know why. So I guess in that sense she's perfect to play the evilness that kills my fave character :P Can't wait to actually see the mauraders and snape, glad they didn't cast that guy who was roumord as Remus before coz he looked nothing like him.

Posted by Kadaj May 25th 2006

I hope Helena Bonham Carter can try to get Burton to direct the next HP movies. What about Kenneth Branagh(Gilderoy Lockhart), is he coming back? He plays a small but funny part in the next movie. WB should really consider bringing him back for OotP. Then the movie would really have an all-star cast.

Posted by BenAndJamieAreLovers May 25th 2006

THIS SUCKS!! i really liked the way helen looked. i thought she would be great for the part. and i mean come on helena is too old! how can you picture her with bubble gum pink spiky hair!? this is TERRIBLE NEWS! but congratulations on the baby all the same helen

Posted by Deadsy May 25th 2006

Perfect.

Posted by Mafalda_BR May 25th 2006

http://www.thefairestlady.com/audrey/galleries/helena_bonham_carter1.jpg and then http://www.myclassiclyrics.com/artist_biographies/Helena_Bonham_Carter_Biography_2.jpg where Helena looks a lot like the bellatrix i have in my head. is just that in that pic posted here we can't see her as bellatrix but she can play a weirdo..i really like her. ahh and i can't find any pic of those boys. I looked everywhere i could..

Posted by M_Ho May 25th 2006

Rachel Weisz if I had to absolutely replace McCory.
