I think they all look great for their respective parts! Great Grubbly- Plank!

hmmmm.... well i'm reserving judgement myself - i find that helena can over-act a great deal and some of her movies are just awful but she can act well sometimes and i think bellatrix is the kind of scene eating character that she'll be able to ham up and it won't make much difference. I like the look of the young snape - add the wig and he'll look enough like alan rickman to be plausable - mind you he is quite sweet looking - am hoping they ugly him up a bit or he'll be faaaar too sexy for a guy who's supposed to be unpopular at school!! lol! :oP Only one problem - i'm not EVER gonna be able to get my mum to go see it (hard enough anyway!) because she HATES helena B-C!! Grr!

The only thing i've seen her in is Charlie and the Chocolate factory, I hope she can do evil cos Mrs Bucket isn't!!!

Drikadas, I don't think this is the guy they cast as Sirius. It says on this site you linked that he was born in Boston, Massachussetts ! They can't possibly have cast only *ONE* American guy and have picked *THAT* one, he's too old for the part for one, and he's much too ugly to be Sirius !!! I'm delighted that Helena was cast for Bella, she's just perfect for the part ! For those who've only seen her in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, don't you worry, she can be the creepiest !!! Just have a look at Big Fish and Fight Club, where she's all weirdo looking and Merlin in which she's the evil queen Mab [I think ...] About Helen McCrory, congratulation for the baby ^^ I've never seen her in anything, so I can't really say, but I always thought she looked too young and cute for Bellatrix ... As for Huston, I have to totally disagree with those who thought she'd be a good Bella : No way ! Don't forget that though mad and gaunt Bella used to be beautiful ! Huston is MUCH too old to play Bella [who's about the same age as the Marauders, that's to say about 40 in OotP !] and I don't think she'd pull the 'insane' thing well enough ! They'll take Tim Burton if they want, but Helena Bonham Carter won't influence them or him. Didn't you hear about him having her do a casting test like everybody else to be the voice of the Corpse Bride ? :P I'd love him to do it, but even if they did asked him, which I seriously doubt, I don't think he'd accept ... But who knows ? If Johnny Depp can do 3 films for Disney, Burton could direct a Harry potter movie ...

Eh, I can't really see Helena Bonham Carter as the evil type - I've always thought of her as kind of weird, kooky, and unkempt. When I think of her, I still think of Marla from "Fight Club".

I'm really excited for Helen McCrory! It's kinda disappointing cuz she looks perfect for Bellatrix, but it's good that she's pregnant. Helena Bonham Carter...well I'm kinda iffy about that! I love her as an actress, and I'm sure she'll do well, but I'll have to see it to picture it. We'll see!

But she seems too nice to play Bellatrix!! Oh, well, I guess we'll have to wait and see...:wink:

the only movie i have seen helena in is 'lady jane' and i had to watch that for history class.plus she was 20 years younger in that movie so i cant really comment on how good of an actress she is now!she looks pretty much like the bellatrix i imagined so im quite happy about that!:)

I'm really confident in Helena's acting skills. She was in big fish (which i simply adore). I don't really remember her in Charlie and the chocolate factory, did she have a british accent? She had a southern accent in big fish. All sounds amazing! I wasnt excited before but now i am.

AAAARRRGGHH! They're keeping Grubly Plant too!?!? Uhg, when I saw the casting changes headline, I was hoping the news was that they had cut some of the unnecessary characters. Is the director intending to do any adapting at all!? I thought WB had learned their lesson! Why did they hire this guy if he was going to use unnecessary characters!? I lose more faith in this director everytime I see an announcement saying that an un-need character is cast. :( That's a shame Helen McCrory won't be playing Bellatrix, I thought she was perfect. But congrats on her getting pregnant!

Judging from the picture Helena fits more to the Bellatrix in my mind then Helen, maybe it is just the picture. but the pictures of McCrory gives me the inpression of someone to gentle for the mental Bellatrix, Helena comes closer. Lets hope the McCrory will take the part of Narcissa in HBP, I think she would do fine for that character. Hopkins as young Seveleh? I am not disappointed. First impression is a good one. Oh this could mean that the scene with Seveleh's mother beaten up could be shot too, I always favored Abe Vigoda as Snape's father....

once i really looked at helena's face i realized she was EXACTLY what i imagined bellatrix (bag o trix) to look like... with makeup she'll be PERFECT! and the young snape guy looks remarkably like alan rickman, with some makeup and hair dye it will be marvelous!! :)

McCrory looked like such a good choice. I just can't imagine Carter in the role. :( Oh well...

She looks okay, I saw her in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and she played the I-Havn't-Eaten-Mugh-Recently part well so dye her hair black and she should look a fairly proper Azkaban escapee. And Young!Snape he's gonna need a wig for starters and some pale make-up to look the part but he doesn't look right.

MS1, the same thing goes on before every film. The book purists lamenting why a 850 page book can't be translated ver batim onto the screen. And afterwards, they'll swear they'll never see another one of the films again EVER. But they always do. And they complain about that one as well. Etc and so on.

I'm just happy that the WB is actually keeping as many characters from the book as possible.

Annnnh no. Shes too young fresh faced looking to play a mean middle aged woman. McCrory had a haunted sort of look and the bulging eyes and the darkness behind her eyes. Also Helena has a soft voice - lots of UK dramas watched - whereas I imagined Bellatrix with a harsh rasp. the perks of having your husband already on the cast eh ? Shes been dying for the part since last year when McCrory got it.
