Laura Mallory fails again
A judge in Gwinnett County, Georgia ruled on Tuesday that the Potter books can stay in school libraries (after local concerned parent Laura Mallory tried once again to have them banned from schools and libraries). After all of these attempts in court, Mallory has finally admitted she may "need a whole new case from the ground up."

Thanks to everyone who e-mailed with the tip!

Laura Mallory has issues!

Posted by yuvalavrami May 30th 2007

ilovemyflute - lol! it's like kyle's mom in the southpark movie.... (: and Mrs. Mallory - if you read this, Im sorry for comparing you to kyle's mom, but you really shouldn't fight about things you don't understand nor try to.

Posted by K8y May 30th 2007

Wow. And I thought I was sad! lol. This woman really needs to give up. If it weren't for the fact that HP is so MORALLY INSPIRING *hint, hint*, I would feel the need to give this woman a good punch (putting it politely). I completely agree with ilovemyflute: her children must lead pretty downtrodden, empty lives if they're not even allowed to read whatever books (or to be exact, STORIES, Ms. Mallory!) they like. Jo has said herself that people do not give children nearly enough credit - I should think that they have enough intelligence to know that these books are fictional. I myself do happen to have made it through my childhood and into my late teens without grabbing a broomstick, and jumping off the roof yelling "Look at me! I'm playing Quidditch!" - I happen to have had more sense. I think it should also be said that these books are not for children, but more teenage - adult, now. Most fans have been reading HP for nearly a decade, so therefore its generation of loyal fans have grown up with the series, and any children who like the books have to have started reading only in recent years; so to cut a long story short, GIVE UP YOU IRRITATING WOMAN, AND STOP INSULTING THE INTELLIGENCE OF THE FANS! Rant over.

What does she think she's trying to do?? I mean, it's just a book! She thinks to little of us youngsters these days because she obviously thinks we are going to start doing "Dark Arts" just because of harry potter. LIKE THAT WOULD EVER HAPPEN! Anyways....HP RULES.

Posted by reegodofmischief May 30th 2007

Wasn't that awesome on Fox News?! She certainly got her butt handed to her. Harry Potter makes kids depressed and want to kill themselves? That counldn't possibly be an already existing mental illness or anything. I just wanted to throw something at the TV, but watching the panel give her and her irritating sidekick whatfore was well worth it.

Posted by Travis May 30th 2007

Well, she was just on FoxNews, and to be honest, I felt that Laura Mallory and that woman with her conducted themselves much better than any of the newscasters. Obviously I don't agree with her, but I wanted to hear what she had to say, not what the friggen news anchor had to say. Why do they need a whole panel to debate this issue with (or gang up on) Laura It's supposed to be a newscasters job to get the news out, not to get their own opinions out. This is something that FoxNews really seems to struggle with. Of course, it was unfair for Laura to use a Quirrel/Voldemort quote (taken out of context) about good, evil, and power in order to claim that the book taught a bad message.

Posted by gryffindorfelix May 30th 2007

haha I definitely thought that her last name was MALFOY! No wonder she's out to get Harry Potter! :P

Posted by july21tillhp7 May 30th 2007

who saw her on fox news??? the host person made laura look like a complete MORON!!

Posted by phoenixknight May 30th 2007

HAHA! That was soo funny gryffindorfelix! Laura Malfoy! After all, she did use a quote from Quirrel/Voldemort about no good and evil and only power. Maybe she supports the Dark Lord...

Posted by july21tillhp7 May 30th 2007

i bet she does

Posted by fell4snape May 30th 2007

LOL. That idiot HAS no case. She needs to get a life.

Posted by ccunni May 30th 2007

ok i dont even know what to think of this WHY WOULD SHE DO THAT????????????????????? ???????????????????? honestly there is no reason to ban Harry Potter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!

Posted by StormyEsperanza May 30th 2007

What a stupid woman! Has she EVER considered that not everyone believes the same things she does! STUPID BRAIN DEAD WITCH. I'd say I hope she goes to hell but it doesn't exist and there's no evidence to say that it does so....

Posted by dwwssw May 30th 2007

Laura needs to chill out a bit. Harry Potter intoduced my children to the love of reading. Not a single one of my children are into goth, witchcraft, heavy metal, santanic rituals, or etc... However, they all hae a wonderful sense of imagination and God himself bestowed that unto them. Sorry Laura, No witchcraft on that part.

Posted by chaters89 May 30th 2007

Jeez....this shhh was on Leaky like 8 weeks ago. Get with it Mugglenet....little slow on the uptake huh?

Posted by crzy4fred May 30th 2007

HAH!!!!!! SUCK ON THAT MALLORY!

Posted by gryffindorfelix May 30th 2007

LAURA MALLOY(MALFOY) IS A DEATH EATER! SHE'S EEEEEEEEVIL!!!!!!!! Hahaha I mean come on. Look at it with a Harry Potter eye. 1) She's trying to turn everyone against harry potter! 2) Malloy looks a LOT like Malfoy. 3) She's just pissed because she never got a Hogwarts letter 4) She is trying to make muggles dominant so that there will be no other wizards to compete with her!! But never fear! Harry Potter will put her in her place. :P haha just kidding...or am I? :P

Posted by StormyEsperanza May 30th 2007

You know what else is funny? She thinks we're all like her, that we're going to read Harry Potter like she does the bible and believe it word for word. The difference being that those who actually read Harry Potter are not stupid enough to think's it's real... ! lol And save one family from heartache?? My family have had no heartache with Harry Potter in any way shape or form! It brings me and my brother together!

Posted by yuvalavrami May 30th 2007

It was sooo funny! i didn't even know we get fox here in Israel! (:

Posted by jadeblack May 30th 2007

Poor woman!!! What a sorry life she must lead. Well at least she got her fifteen minutes of fame. Nobody likes her, but not much has changed. She is just loathed on a much larger scale now.

Posted by AnyaMarcos May 30th 2007

"Mallory has finally admitted she may "need a whole new case from the ground up."" Ha! That's Fundie-Speak for "It's time to lie my ass off in order to get my way."

Posted by muggle_magic May 30th 2007

Well I am a hardcore Christian and I have been all my life. I was very skeptical when I opened up the first Harry Potter book, but I didnt want to judge without the whole story. I fell in love with it from the first chapter. Harry Potter is just another fantasy story (well, the best fantasy, but you know) and is not meant to be taken literally by anyone. To me, its just a bunch of magic tricks that kids like to entertain people with.

Posted by grednforge May 30th 2007

HA! TAKE THAT, MRS. MALLORY!!! You better think twice before messing with Harry Potter!!!

Posted by Helene May 30th 2007

I just watched her on FOX news: the panel basically chewed her up and spit her out--

Posted by AnyaMarcos May 30th 2007

"Aren't these comletely contradictory statements?" Travis, don't expect reason from her kind. Contradiction and hypocracy are the backbone of Conservative Christianity. Love your neighbor as long as he's Christian, Straight, White and Republican. Otherwise, hate him and spit on him. That's what I learned from Christians, and it is why I am not one any longer.

Posted by legaleagle May 30th 2007

I think this woman is confused. I completely agree that she has a right to her view (without the rest of us calling her names - ahem!) Hopefully, most of you have been following this story, and realize that she is not actually trying to get the books banned from all stores or libraries - only the ones in the public elementary school libraries. She is a parent and a tax payer, and has a right to protest the availability of a book with which she doesn't agree. However, her reasoning for it is haphazard at best. If she's trying to get the books taken out of the public elementary school libraries, why is she consistently offering examples of teens and young adults as the "depressed" and "disturbed" from the books? She hasn't proven cause and effect! What I find most frightening is her closing statement - that she will try this again but from a different angle! In my opinion, even if she found 100 willing victims to say that they've been depressed as a result of HP books, she will have to weigh that against the MILLIONS of fans who have benefitted from them in a positive way!

Posted by bwof May 30th 2007

HA!! That serves her RIGHT!! She´s such an idiot to put it nicely for trying to bann one of the best books in the world. The world would be better off if SHE herself would be BANNED. Lol.

Posted by Hannah_Weasley May 30th 2007

HA! Take that SUCKER! She should give up here cas because she will never win and there are like 5 million people who already want to kill her. W/E she lost :P

Posted by jadeblack May 30th 2007

AnyaMarcos, You got that from people who pretend to be Christian. They think oh this sounds good, I can claim to better than everyone else, and judge and shoot off my mouth. All in the name of God. A true Christian knows they don't have any right to judge any one else. They also know they are no better than the person next them or any one else. Those people who believe they alone are worthy, hide in their own homes and know they are wrong. If they don't I pitty them more. Don't let people like Mallory let you belive all Christians are fools! P.S. Harry Potter books Rock!!!

Posted by phoenixknight May 30th 2007

Wow, I totally agree with you there AnyaMarcos, kudos for Anya ;) I'm not a big fan of the conservatives, as a matter of fact this upcoming Potter movie (being politically influenced), the conservatives like: Umbridge, Fudge, Dawlish, etc. are kinda like the enemies in it, lol.

Posted by harrys_wand May 30th 2007

mrs. mallory theres a bible qquote u should know "understand you boors... and you foolswhen will u gain wisdom " uh... yes we do practice occutism. i have to the ritual-of-honoring-merlin 's-beard now so... ok just JOKING!!!!!!!!!!!! to her i'd say the chamber of secrets is open enimies of the heir beware.... or as Severus_Rickman said once oin mugglenet "I have two sharp words for you Laura Mallory, Avada Kedavra!" StormyEsperanz a: tht might be ofensive 2 jews and christains.

Posted by Quiscalus May 30th 2007

Believe me, legaleagle, you'll be singing a different song soon enough. I said the same thing you did, (and so did my mum), but the more I heard from her, the more convinced I was that she is senile. And AnyaMarcos, Christianity does say to love thy neighbor; it's just that some people re-interpreted it to fit what they want. Judge a religion based on it's teachings, and not the people who practice it. (Just for the record, I'm not Christian.)

Posted by lupinsgirl15 May 30th 2007

man thats freakin awesome!haha serves her right for thinking she can beat jkr and the rest of us.:) i almost hope she never gives up cuz this is just way too entertaining

Posted by clemsntigers13 May 30th 2007

I can just hear the judge laughing at her right now. I hope she gets a different one for her case that she's going to "build from the ground up" or whatever she said. Trust me, you DO NOT want to psst a judge off, and if these judges get annoyed with her, they are just going to keep ruling against her. She just needs to chill out. All she has to do is ignore Harry Potter. Don't let her kids read it or watch it or talk about it. She needs to focus on her own parenting before she starts pointing fingers at everyone else.

Posted by SEVERUSx May 30th 2007

haha. Can't she just go socialise with people? Or get like - a hobby? Or perhaps... no... read the book and get hooked? Haha that would be fun if she'd go and ask JK for an autograph.

Posted by magicalme7 May 30th 2007

People like her make me loose faith in the human race. I mean, really, she's already failed a few times. And it is JUST A BOOK,(not saying Harry Potter is just a book but, ya know...) Kids aren't going to go around avada kadava people... Just stop...

Posted by hermyown7777 May 30th 2007

What the heck is wrong with this woman......READ THE BOOKS YOU HARRY-HATER!

Posted by weirdmuggle May 30th 2007

I knew it...they're too popular and good. She should actually read them before continuing to spread lies.

Posted by heyitsakittykat May 30th 2007

FawkesPromise, thanks for passing on Laura Mallory's website. It's a great bit of fiction to read. I love how she throws all kinds of misquotations from Jo, like the one about 'writing about an evil character'. She's using it as a Harry reference when obviously Jo is speaking of Voldemort. Ms. Mallory is a typical straight-laced, born-again, manipulatory type of Christian who preaches hate and fear, when the real heart of Christianity is love and acceptance. Literal bible pushers.. I swear. *shakes head* She will never make a large impact on the world except perhaps to be laughed at, and the only people I feel really sorry for are her children.

Posted by hagrid1 May 30th 2007

OMG!!! This woman is soooo sad. I can't even think of the word for her...maybe incompetent??? I can't believe she hasn't even read the books. Way to talk about something and act like you know what it's about. MAYBE that's why she keeps losing her cases. Because the courts know that this woman has noooo clue what she is talking about and she is a complete moron. I've been reading these books since I was 11, and I've NEVER once tried witchcraft. They do NOT tell kids to even think about trying to do witchcraft. They are stories about good and evil, love and what's more important in this world. For one of my classes at school, I had to write a speech about this woman and why children should be able to read the Harry Potter books, and why this woman was completely and lost case. I am going to be a teacher, and I believe in imagination. These books of all support imagination to it's fullest. Without imagination, where would this world be??? And even if she did win her case (unlikely) children will do what they want. The more you ban something the more they want to do it. Banning the Harry Potter books will only make children to go out somewhere else and find the books and read them. I feel really sorry for her children. I would be ashamed of my mother. This woman must have had a very sorry childhood full of dullness and boredom. Imagination must have not been allowed in her household. She almost reminds me of the Dursleys. No imagination and don't even speak of magic!!! I wonder how she treats her cihldren??? I feel sorry for the people that have to be around her. This woman just shows how completely ignorant and idiotic the human race can be. She needs to go back to her home and sulk in a corner and shut up!! No one wants to hear her...especailly the courts. She's wasting time. She needs to go back home, live her boring, unimaginative life alone, and leave all of the HP fans alone!!!!!

Posted by iluvharry May 30th 2007

OMG, when will she realize that the good guys (aka us Potterheads) ALWAYS triumph? :-D This is what like the TENTH time she's tried to have HP banned, and they keep keeping Harry on the shelves. When will she get it through her head that WE LOVE HARRY? It's so funny! (Note: I am not disagreeing with her values; if she wants to deprive her children of Harry, whatever, her choice, but she's not the mother of the whole school district. Maybe if she'd actually READ HP she'd realize how wrong she is. But then again, they're "too long" for her...) ROTFLMAO it's so funny how she just doesn't realize SHE HAS LOST!

Posted by Stargrl228 May 30th 2007

Ha ha I saw that thing on Fox News, man she was getting it good, her and her really tall friend...lol

Posted by harryskarma May 30th 2007

Yup Laura got dissed alright. Miss Mallory made a mistake when she said Harry said there was "no good and evil" in SS it was Voldermort who said it he was trying to manipulate Harry into joining the darkside, IDIOTO! Harry refused, called him a LIAR. She needs a FACT checker. Get a life woman. I hope she is LAUGHED out of the Supreme Court she so deserves it.

Posted by SNJPete May 30th 2007

I said it before, and I'll say it again. She is nothing but a giant stupid-stinky-poopyhead! Talk about someone who should be sent to Azkaban...

Posted by keri_potter May 30th 2007

seriously is she honestly serious about this, build a new case from the ground up, she can build as many as she wants, i dont care. she needs to get over it, the next case wont win either. so long as people love the books and it keeps kids AND adults reading, it will never be banned from any school. im 28 years old and because of the series i actually read now. i have bought a TON of books all because i was so into harry potter. maybe she needs to read them too then she can shut her big fat mouth. my mother is christian too not to mention EVERYONE on my mothers side of the family has some sort of tie to the church weather it be chorus, bands or ministers. and all of them either love the HP series cause they read the books or they love the movies. GET OVER IT LAURA MALLORY!!!

Posted by PipPyDaYdReAm3r99 May 30th 2007

what a psst-on. If she doesn't like them fine but don't ruin everyone else's fun by taking down possibly the best book ever written! YAYE FOR US!! :)

Posted by stareyed_in_LA May 30th 2007

What a sad little woman. Doesn't she already know when to give up already. She has a dead on arrival case.

Posted by keri_potter May 30th 2007

does anyone happen to have a clip from that fox news thing with her? i would love to see it and im stuck here at work so i cant unless i see it from my comp here.

Posted by Ravenclawswisdom May 30th 2007

Like us Harry Potter fans didn't know we would triumph. She's an idiotic woman, who has no evidence, since she hasn't read the books, hence noone will listen to her. Yeah sure, they're way too long, well how do you explain an 8 year old can read it in one day? If she can waist time in court why can't she read the books? I saw this one book at the library called "Harry Potter and you" something about the moral values of Harry Potter and how it isn't teaching witchcraft. Maybe I should send that book to her, maybe all of the fans should send it to her, until she's driven bonkers by all of these books she has received. Yeah right, like that would work. I'm now sure she deserved the idiot of the year award.

Posted by SortingHat May 30th 2007

How's this for a whole new case: "Mallory Actually Reads Potter Books, Realizes she is an idiot, and that Potter Fans were Right All Along!"
