I understand where Mallory is coming from. There was the same thing about The Matrix but something bad actually DID happen with those movies. I don't see the same thing happening with Harry Potter. I knew this person who thought the Matrix was real and things like that happen. Someone out there could think Harry Potter is real, but I think they do little harm compared to other books. She could have had someone close to her have some sort of terrinle episode with Harry Potter and maybe that is why she is taking it so far. Don't say things about someone you know very little about.

But you have to admit she's a bit aggravating, at least to me, and I don't have anything against her personally, just what she's using her persistance for. There are many worthy causes that need that sort of persistance, yet she chooses to use her ability for something that doesn't need it, in my opinion.

You are exactly right, but to me a person's feelings are more important than a book. I take great offense when people say "Why doesn't she just kill herself?" That is so incredibly, disgustingly, rude to me because I deal with depression everyday and it makes me think I should go kill myself because they are tossing away life like it is not the precious thing that it is. I have also tried to kill myself before so anyway. The point is, if some people on here can be tender hearted and control themselves, you can. I tried to read all the people's comments but it was a drag reading all of them. Everyone practically said the same thing and there were a few people here and there who see that she is a human being just like us and not some gum on the bottom of your shoe. I only got to the second page when I realized how disappointed I am to be a human, but everyday I am disappointed to be one. uhh, people . . . like, calm down, okay? Maybe you don't agree with Laura Mallory, but really, all she's trying to do is defend her religion. I'm Christian too, and I don't think HP is evil witchcraft propaganda and JKR is the spawn of the devil, and I also disagree with banning books on principle. If we can let her hate HP, and she can let us love it, maybe we can all just get along. It's wrong to try to keep kids from reading books, but it's also wrong to attack someone with words you would NEVER say to their face, and to show tolerance we have to extend it. If we show that, as HP fans, we are still capable of behaving civilly, that might make her have a higher opinion of HP than if we tear her to pieces.

There is nothing wrong with being gothic/emo. Most gothic/emo people are really nice. I am one of them. But I would like to know what her reason is for wanting so badly to get these books of the shelves. I mentioned it before.

The reason she wants them off the shelves is she's afraid kids are going to pick them up, read them, and be inspired to join a coven so they can levitate things like Harry can. And who knows? Maybe some kids are, and I can kinda see what her point is. But banning books that teach the difference between right and wrong, friendship, self-sacrifice, etc., isn't going to solve the world's problems.
