WOMBAT part 3 now up!
WOMBAT part 3 now up! JKRowling.com has been updated with the third part of the WOMBATs (Wizards' Ordinary Magic and Basic Aptitude Tests)! Click on the eraser on Jo's desk to get to the door whose "Do Not Disturb" sign has now been removed.

According to the site, "The Grade 3 WOMBAT is the final examination, and the most difficult. Not only is the subject matter much more advanced, but the examination is also more stringently marked. Certain answers will LOSE YOU MARKS, so choose carefully..."

We recommend you try to figure out how to open the door on your own, but for instructions, click here.
1. Click on the fly (on the window). It turns into a key.
2. Drag this to the keyhole.
3. Stack the shapes on top of each other: Triangle on line, circle on triangle.
4. Click this shape, then click the exam paper to begin.

If you're having problems opening the door, try clearing your cache/cookies (see your browser's Internet options), or access the site at jkrowling.net or jorowling.com.

Posted by christianaeg Jun 14th 2007

dan_harley_5- probably 4 or 5 more days!

Posted by dan_harley_5 Jun 14th 2007

thanx

Posted by lena Jun 14th 2007

Hey, I've done the test and now just curious how did you answered those: 1) Biggest Alchemical Studies Center in Egipt - true? 2) Is Scotlans the the biggest Secrecy Law offender? (I think no) 3) What is worse - house elf slavery (if they are happy about it) or wand ban for non-humans? Thanks!

Posted by dan_harley_5 Jun 14th 2007

i dont remember

*CRACK [apparates] Okay, I'm going to get technical here: As far as the symbol goes on the children's UK version, the line is the last drawn object. The symbol we had to put together to open the door, although very, very similar....the line goes first with the circle being last. Maybe I'm being nit-picky, but I will concede in saying that there IS a connection with that symbol. I also would like to mention that the previous two W.O.M.B.A.T. exams were open to take for about 4 - 5 days each, and about a week after the door closed, we received our exam results. There was a 6 month wait between the two exams. This time, for the 3rd exam, we had an 8 month wait, and it wasn't that difficult to get to the exam. Meaning the puzzle wasn't that difficult to get to the exam. Could it be that this exam's time table could be shorter (or longer) than the previous two?

Posted by ginny53 Jun 14th 2007

It wont let me get in. I am on a dell laptop. The fly wont let me click on it

Posted by goodbyelove93 Jun 14th 2007

i finally got it to work after going to the uk version, so id like to thank everyone for all of their help. Also thanks for the help with the potion bottles, i got the combination frm the radio so thanks for the suggestions. but i do have a few questions that are unrelated, (and one that is related) to the wombats but the wombats did lead me there so i am going to ask: 1)when i went to extras to get the potion combo, there was an ereaser (sp) there...if u drag it 2 the blank paper above it, it gives ingredients and then a caudron drawing...what r u supposed to do with it? 2) the phone on the desk keeps ringing but it only stays on for 5 seconds when i "answer" it...is something else supposed to happen...what? 3)when i enter my student id for the scores, sometimes it won't go to the clock at all it just keeps saying that it is verifying it, and when it does go to the clock it doesn't point to anything, just straight up SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME!!

Posted by ginny53 Jun 14th 2007

YES! UK version worked

Posted by christianaeg Jun 14th 2007

ginny53- try the .net or .ord versions of the site! goodbyelove93- to your last question, the site's going sluggish for everyone.... and the clock will start to change when the door closes in about 4-5 more days. to your second and third questions, they lead to little goodies when you figure out what they mean. The phone doesn't do much unless you click the right numbers, but your onto one of the things with the eracer on the extras! if you don't want to solve the puzzles, check Mugglenet's JKrowling.com info section!

Posted by Thegirlwholived Jun 14th 2007

I was able to take the wombat. When I did click on the fly I had to hold down my mouse button until it turned into the key. Then I held the button as I dragged it over to the door and it opened. You have to place the line directly in the middle of the triangle and then place the circle directly in the middle of the triangle next. You then click the symbol and little blue sparks come out and the the symbol turns golden and moves to the right. Then you click on the exam. I took the test. It was hard in the beginning. I got my identification code, but it won't give me my test results. I just see a clock on the wall that says three things...correcting paper, processing results, and show results... or something like that. I think I did well, but I won't know until I get the STUPID RESULTS UUUUGGH!

Posted by christianaeg Jun 14th 2007

Thegirlwholived- we're all going to get our resluts about a week after the door closes! It's going to be nail chewing time :)

Posted by Hannah_at_Hogwarts Jun 14th 2007

goodbyelove93: The figures on the paper that appear after you erase it are things you need to "collect" in order to get a prize. These things to collect are hidden throughout JK's website. The green and red potion bottles are just part of getting a prize. christianaeg is right about the phone, you must press certain numbers in the right sequential order in order to receive two prizes actually. I believe there are 12 prizes in all...it's great fun actually. The toughest one for me was the marble on the desk by the pencil/pen cup....but it was worth it! :) Good luck! If you'd like help with 'collecting', you can check (as christianaeg indicates) Mugglenet's JKRowling.com info section, or The Harry Potter Lexicon's JKRowling.com info section.

If the fly doesn't turn into a key [which is my problem too] and if you are bilingual, enter the site with your other language. ** I found that the fly would only turn into a key when the candle in the mirror was lit.**

Posted by christianaeg Jun 14th 2007

innermagic- if you're still having problems try the .net or .org versions of the site!

Posted by charlie89 Jun 14th 2007

If your fly won't turn into a key... Try the "text-only" version versus the "accessibility enabled" version. I went crazy all yesterday in the latter version so I tried different browsers and the text version and it worked!

Posted by asleep_at_the_moment Jun 14th 2007

hannah_at_hogwarts: there are three things to type into the phone for eggs: P-E-E-V-E-S, M-A-G-I-C, and finally the numbers which are represented by the runes scattered around the rubbish bin. i think they make jkrs birthday but am not sure. when it rings and you answer it, it just says hello? anyone there and hangs up. you dont get a prize for that...

Posted by miss_black Jun 14th 2007

WOW this test was so difficulttt!!! seriouslyyy! i was all excited to do it since i'm a HP fan since 2nd grade or something so i thought "nahhh.. no way it's gonna b difficult for me".. i was so surprised! i hope i did well :) when r we getting the results back?

Posted by innermagic Jun 14th 2007

christianaeg- I did try the old versions. None of them work. I ended up entering the site in Spanish, it worked, but I had issues tranlsating since the page refreshed to the home page whenever I tried to minimize the page. || charlie89 9- Thanks, I'll try that!

Posted by christianaeg Jun 14th 2007

miss_black- about a week after the door closes!

Posted by christianaeg Jun 14th 2007

innermagic- have you tried cleaning out your cookies?

Posted by mariatc Jun 14th 2007

Hannah_at_Hogwarts!! Hi! Remember me from the last wombat...wombat help team...Yesterday I 'reunited' with christianeg and we were wondering if you would come...anyway, good to see you again! lol

Posted by christianaeg Jun 14th 2007

hullo mariatc!! it's been slow this afternoon.... JK's site's sluggish! people are having probems submitting their answers, the screen just says submitting for a looong time! i left mine going for an hour and a half before i closed it down...

Posted by Hannah_at_Hogwarts Jun 14th 2007

Hello Mariatc! Yes, I remember. Unfortunately, I must depart....I trust my fellow mugglenetters are in very good hands with both you and christianaeg helping them! Good Luck! *CRACK* [disapparates]

Posted by Grey Jun 14th 2007

That was absolutely fascinating!! I kept thinking on the ones that said “choose the incorrect one” the others are ALL TRUE!! Wowzah! I thought one of the most interesting questions was what is the cure for the Draft of Living Death--at first I put asphodel but I thought, ‘No, DoLD is made of asphodel+wormwood so that can’t be it’ so I put phoenix tears instead:) OH, AND TOMORROW IS MY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!:)

Posted by mariatc Jun 14th 2007

bye hannah! christianaeg, yeah i know, my friends here are having trouble taking the test too. i guess its because by now almost everyone knows about the test, so they are all doing it at the same time.

Posted by lena Jun 14th 2007

For Grey - I choose bezoar for the Draft of Living Death as it neutralize most poisons, doesn't it? What about my questions (see above)?

Posted by dan_harley_5 Jun 14th 2007

mariatc- what is this "wombat help team", and from the sound of it, it will be broken up, what will you do then???

Posted by mariatc Jun 14th 2007

1) Biggest Alchemical Studies Center in Egipt - true? Yes, I answered true too...2) Is Scotlans the the biggest Secrecy Law offender? Yes, I think so....I mean, there is no real proof, but I think so. 3) What is worse - house elf slavery (if they are happy about it) or wand ban for non-humans? I think worse is the wand ban...because that caused the golbin rebellions and anger from other coutnries.

Posted by christianaeg Jun 14th 2007

dan_harley_- i kinda founded the WOMBAT SOS team last time when people were having trouble getting through the door.... yes it will probably be broken up i guess like last time, but some of us still stay in contact!

Posted by dan_harley_5 Jun 14th 2007

ok, so say wombats come back, will you come back???

Posted by mariatc Jun 14th 2007

dan_harley_- yeah, the wombat sos team is just what christianaeg said...but i mean, we are not doind anything wrong, because we are not telling the answers or anything...because after all, we dont know what the real answers are, and we wont know either. what we do is help people who is having problem accesing the test :)

Posted by mariatc Jun 14th 2007

dan_harley_5: yeah we would...but this is the last wombat :( if there is another type of test in the future yeah, i guess we'll come back

Posted by alatariel16 Jun 14th 2007

hey at least on the uk version after i took the test there were two bottles...one green and one red if you put some drops from both of them into the plant it blooms and you get this special content thingy :)

Posted by mariatc Jun 14th 2007

it all seems so silent...everyone got calmed down, lol. well, anyway, sorry guys i gotta go! i wont be back until tomorrow, because now im going dress shopping for a dance and then im going to the school play :) ok too much information...bye good luck to everyone who does the test and if you need help im sure christianeg will be more than happy to help you :) bye

Posted by christianaeg Jun 14th 2007

awwww bye mariatc!!

Posted by Moaning_Myrtle Jun 14th 2007

DONE! I just finished and um....... wow that was pretty hard. (most of it, any way!) Probably got a T or something but aw well ; ) Trolls are awesome... History???s ince when does anyone pay attention to that stuff! ~MM~ P.S. I just found out yesterday that Nicholas Flamel was a real person. haha pretty cool! (he didn't live that long though)

Posted by Moaning_Myrtle Jun 14th 2007

Hi again---- I never took WOMBAT #2... Is it still possible to take it...

Posted by christianaeg Jun 14th 2007

Moaning_Myrtle- No, unfortunatly you cannot take the second or first WOMBATs...

Posted by glo_baby_glo Jun 14th 2007

i missed out on the first two. do you have to have taken those to take this one, and is there anyway to still take the other two?

Posted by christianaeg Jun 14th 2007

glo_baby_glo- Nope... don't have had to have taken the first 2, and you can't take them anymore....

Posted by dobby_rocks Jun 14th 2007

Just took it, wish we'd be given longer for the exam. like 45 min to 60.

Posted by HPfreak2010 Jun 14th 2007

OMG I missed 1 and 2!!!! *cries* As i'm sure alot of people did I cheated my way in, but as i like to look at it I just got a little extra help from my friends @ mugglenet!! lol It was kind of a hard test though, but then agian I might just be stupid!! Well we'll see when i get my results back!

Posted by Celairiel Jun 14th 2007

OK, just a question and a couple of hints. Question: it doesn't recognize my old id code, how do I fix that? Hint: If you cant get your code to work, and you dont want to miss the test, do what I did and just enter anyway. Instead of saying "yes" i have an id code, say "no." You cant create a new one, it will just start it over for you. you get the new code at the end of the test. If you are having trouble w/ the fly: it won't move. That way you can click on it. You wont see a hand, JK hides that so it isn't too easy. Click and hold anyway. If you click and let go you wont see the key. The shapes: you can't just stack and go. They go shimmery and lock into place when you get them just right, then they move as a set. Just get two to fit together, than move the other one on top of that. I don't know what order I went in. I just did it randomly. Oh, and a mini celebration!!! I figured out how to get in all by myself!!!

Posted by dan_harley_5 Jun 14th 2007

hopefully she makes more tests, but easier

Posted by member_of_SPEW Jun 14th 2007

Wow! That was really hard. I guessed on most of the History, but the Dark Arts section was all right. This is a cool day. First mugglenet post, first WOMBAT test, and LAST DAY OF SCHOOL!!!!!
