WOMBAT part 3 now up!
WOMBAT part 3 now up! JKRowling.com has been updated with the third part of the WOMBATs (Wizards' Ordinary Magic and Basic Aptitude Tests)! Click on the eraser on Jo's desk to get to the door whose "Do Not Disturb" sign has now been removed.

According to the site, "The Grade 3 WOMBAT is the final examination, and the most difficult. Not only is the subject matter much more advanced, but the examination is also more stringently marked. Certain answers will LOSE YOU MARKS, so choose carefully..."

We recommend you try to figure out how to open the door on your own, but for instructions, click here.
1. Click on the fly (on the window). It turns into a key.
2. Drag this to the keyhole.
3. Stack the shapes on top of each other: Triangle on line, circle on triangle.
4. Click this shape, then click the exam paper to begin.

If you're having problems opening the door, try clearing your cache/cookies (see your browser's Internet options), or access the site at jkrowling.net or jorowling.com.

how long does it usually take for results to get delivered or in the post?

Posted by christianaeg Jun 14th 2007

7th_horcrux- about a week after the door closes!

Posted by Lyn_Potter Jun 14th 2007

I can't seem to figure out the triangle and lin and circle thing so HELP!!

Posted by christianaeg Jun 14th 2007

Lyn_Potter- put the circle on top of the line so the line goes through the center of the circle. this could take a few tries. they will sparkle when you get it right. pick up the circle/line and put it in the middle of the triangle. the circle should be in the middle and the line should touch the top corner of the triangle! it will sparkle when you get it right! good luck!

Posted by DailyProphetAce Jun 14th 2007

First put the line in place, then the triangle, and the circle last. Then click on the assembled symbol. Does anyone remember from the previous WOMBATs when the clock that tells the status changes to "Papers Being Marked"? Because I took the exam yesterday, and the hand is still at the 12 mark, and I want to know if I messed something up now so that I can retake if necessary.

Posted by christianaeg Jun 14th 2007

DailyProphetAce- the clock won't change till about a week after the door closes, so we'll all see how badly we've done at the same time! :)

Posted by DailyProphetAce Jun 14th 2007

Thanks, I wasn't sure if it was until after the door closed that the clock changed or not. I was just a bit paranoid, with this the last part and all. (Plus I really want to know how I did! I think.)

Posted by LadyLynn Jun 14th 2007

I've cleared the cookies, I've tired jkrowling.com, jkrowling.net, jorowling.com, and jkrowling.co.uk and none of these website will let me click on the fly to get in the door. : (

Posted by vera0904 Jun 14th 2007

LadyLynn, try going to jkrowling.net and then entering through the UK version (instead of the Acessible one Americans use)... I had the same problem until I tried that.

Posted by SCPGOH_ad24 Jun 14th 2007

for those of you who are having problems with the fly: hold down the mouse. i was having trouble too, but i did that and it worked. also, who else was jumping down when they saw what the shape was? ITS THE SAME ONE ON THE SPINE OF THE CHILDRENS UK COVER! there was a huge discussion on it on mugglecast. i guess they were right, it is very significant!

Posted by armormew Jun 14th 2007

Goto http://www.jkrowling.org/ en/ it works!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by mischief__managed Jun 14th 2007

but like... how do u get the student identification code?

Posted by lathair Jun 14th 2007

I couldn't get it to work at all until I went all the way back out, and instead of using the "Accessability Enabled Version", I clicked on the British flag. Then when I went into the room with the door, I saw that my plant on the table was almost dead and the potions were back. That's when the fly would finally turn into a key. Hope that helps! Good luck!

Posted by mischief__managed Jun 14th 2007

is it possible to take the other 2?

Posted by webster Jun 15th 2007

is it possible to do the 1st and 2nd tests, i just did the 3rd and would like to have a go at the others ....cheers

Posted by Belsito Jun 15th 2007

I'm afraid you can't do the first two tests now. Each test can only be taken for a few days when that door opens for this purpose. Perhaps, after these tests, she will put them online again or perhaps give us all the right answers! That would give us loads more information about the wizarding world which somehow never came out in the books.

Posted by Emerzcs Jun 15th 2007

I just noticed that the symbol that you make with the Triangle, Line and Circle is the same one on the spin of the British Deathly Hallows cover what do you think it means?

Posted by HEDWIG79 Jun 15th 2007

FOR ANYONE STILL HAVIN PROBLEMS GETTIN THROUGH THE DOOR, GO TO WWW.JKROWLING.NET AND CLICK ON THE BOX WITH THE BRITISH FLAG SAYING ENTER SITE, IT WORKED FOR ME, GOOD LUCK, P.S DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THE TWO POTION BOTTLES DO ANYTHING?..

Posted by Anjeliica_ Jun 15th 2007

Posted by Arry Jun 15th 2007

Posted by maggie95 Jun 15th 2007

i opened the door but i havent taken the 1st 2 tests... is there i way i can take them now???? cos i really really really really wanna take them

Posted by Arry Jun 15th 2007

Can you take the first two tests? No, you missed out. Read through the comments to answer your questions. There's a high possibility your question has been answered already (There's like 572)

Posted by GoGreen_SaveTheEarth Jun 15th 2007

HEDWIG79 with the potions bottles put 6 drops of red and 3 drops of green and you will get a surprise that goes in your scrape book =)

Posted by asleep_at_the_moment Jun 15th 2007

why do so many people use the accessibility enabled site? you cant all be disabled... surely you all speak english and use the english one? weird...

Posted by coachgrace Jun 15th 2007

Still can't get the fly to turn into a key. Tried clearing my cache. Help!

Posted by Hannah_at_Hogwarts Jun 15th 2007

*CRACK* [apparates] My, my, my....it never fails. Each time a W.O.M.B.A.T. exam appears, people freak out. I guess it's due to the excitement that people do not calm down and READ the comments. Of course you don't have time to read through 575+ comments, but the answers to most of the questions are within any 10 comments posted. FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO ARE HAVING TROUBLE WITH THE FLY: Try the different versions (.com, .net etc) of JK's websites. Click on the British Flag to access her site, do not go to the "Enter Accessibility Enabled Version". Once you are on the page with the door, the fly appears on the window, click on it and hold the mouse button down. It will turn into a key. Drag the key to the keyhole of the door. The door opens and you will see the W.O.M.B.A.T. exam paper, along with a gold circle, line and triangle that are scattered over the exam and desk. Click on the triangle and drag it to the line. Drop the triangle over the line. Click on the circle and drag it to the traingle and line; drop it over the circle. Blue sparkles will appear; click on this shape (YES...it is the same as on the spine of the UK children's DH bookcover). The shape moves to the upper right; click on the exam paper...follow the directions. You have 35 minutes to sit the exam. You will be provided with a student ID AFTER you've taken the exam if you do not have one already. If you do, it will prompt you to insert the ID number. When the exam is over and the W.O.M.B.A.T. can no longer be accessed, the clock on the wall will change to "Marking papers" (or however that is worded). The clock will stay like this for a couple of days....THEN the clock will change to the last position saying papers are being delivered. We then will be able to get our grades...all this (based on the previous two tests) will take about 5 - 7 days. And lastly, NO YOU CAN NOT TAKE THE PREVIOUS TWO TESTS. They've been closed. Sorry. Hope this helps for all. Good Luck. :)

Posted by Hannah_at_Hogwarts Jun 15th 2007

CORRECTION: When the results are deliverd by owl post, the clock will be at "Results Delivered". I've just visited the "Clock Room", and I had forgotten that both exam #1 and #2's certificates are framed and sitting on the wall. For those of you wondering what the shelves are for, they are for our results. I'm guessing the left shelf is for an acceptable passing grade result (which were in envelopes the previous two exams) and possibly the right shelf is for a failing grade result? Not sure... My, it sure has gotten quiet this morning (8:30 am on the Pacific Coast/USA).

Posted by LunaIsMyHero Jun 15th 2007

The fly isn't working.......this is frustrating!!!!! =[

Posted by Hannah_at_Hogwarts Jun 15th 2007

LunaIsMyHero: Try just clicking regularly on the fly...don't hold down the mouse button. Providing you've entered through the British Flag instead of the accessability enabled version.

Posted by darkfog123 Jun 15th 2007

GUYSSSSS...mine didnt work either....nut just try the text only UK version and it'll work!!!the fly thing and everything will work

Posted by haley1793 Jun 15th 2007

Can't click on the fly? Go on jkrowling.ORG Then DO NOT click on the Accesability Enabled button. Click onthe first to the left button below it, it should say ENTER SITE, with a British flag on it. Click the eraser. When you enter the RoR, The table will have potions instead of a vase, but that doesn't matter. You canclick on the fly, at least I could. BTW, I did all of this on IE.

Posted by SSWTB Jun 15th 2007

This test is more like a guessing game. I hardly knew anything for sure.

Posted by xano Jun 15th 2007

ROCKonVOLDY- On JK's Desktop, click on the Wombat card at the top of the page, type in your code, and BAM! There's the clockroom. lol

Posted by horsemadcait Jun 15th 2007

The shape wont work! Ive got the key and opened the door but i cant FIGURE OUT THE SHAPE HELP!!!

Posted by christianaeg Jun 15th 2007

horsemadcait- put the circle on the rod so the rod goes through the center of the circle. it will sparkle when you get it right. then pick up the rod/circle and put it in the triangle so the circle's in the middle and the rod touches the top point!

Posted by lupinsgirl15 Jun 15th 2007

thats freaking cool

Posted by goodbyelove93 Jun 15th 2007

horsemadcait: for the shape...its supposed to be like the triangle goes directly on top of the line so that the line is going through it, then the circle in the middle of the trangle...hope i helped... magickgirl: if you are on the accsessibilyity (sp) enabled version...that is probably why. go to the bottom of the entrance page where the flags are and vlik on the text only version with the britsh flag...it should work then

Posted by horsemadcait Jun 15th 2007
