WOMBAT part 3 now up!
WOMBAT part 3 now up! JKRowling.com has been updated with the third part of the WOMBATs (Wizards' Ordinary Magic and Basic Aptitude Tests)! Click on the eraser on Jo's desk to get to the door whose "Do Not Disturb" sign has now been removed.

According to the site, "The Grade 3 WOMBAT is the final examination, and the most difficult. Not only is the subject matter much more advanced, but the examination is also more stringently marked. Certain answers will LOSE YOU MARKS, so choose carefully..."

We recommend you try to figure out how to open the door on your own, but for instructions, click here.
1. Click on the fly (on the window). It turns into a key.
2. Drag this to the keyhole.
3. Stack the shapes on top of each other: Triangle on line, circle on triangle.
4. Click this shape, then click the exam paper to begin.

If you're having problems opening the door, try clearing your cache/cookies (see your browser's Internet options), or access the site at jkrowling.net or jorowling.com.

I got it. My first WOMBAT ever. I'm so excited. Its bloddy difficult, i mean where do get the answers from. I do wish i had Hogwarts, A History to learn.

Posted by LyviniaBump Jun 13th 2007

Folks who aren't getting it to work, are you in the right day yet? Maybe it works after midnight and on the 13th. If it's not the 13th yet for you, then it won't work. Just a guess. It was my first Wombat too and it was really hard!! Most of it was guessing. BUT it does bring up a few tantalizing questions!

Posted by kokoro_ravenclaw Jun 13th 2007

That was exciting. I've never done a W.O.M.B.A.T exam before....VERY Harry Potterish....what fun. I just hope that past W.O.M.B.A.T exams become open for examination after this one OR that more are created in the future, because these are great interactive fun for all ages and really build up the Potter spirit. Gotta go to bed, stayed up WAY longer than I should've to sit the exam, and didn't do my maths homework...:(. Tomorrow morning on the train it is then....But Hey, it's not like I WASTED my time or anything, it's HARRY POTTER...The biggest USE of time EVER! YAY! ^-^!

Posted by Potter4Prez22 Jun 13th 2007

OMG!!!!!! I opened and took it!!! it was a little hard but... whatever.. im SO glad i was able to open it... I couldnt get my results but whatever You have to click on the england server in order for it to work.. not the US one.... HAVE FUN!!!

Posted by Quiscalus Jun 13th 2007

It's not working for me!!! :( I can get the symbol together, but when I click on the actual test, it doesn't open. Grr.... How long is it going to be up? I'm going to be gone for the next 3 days...

Posted by Colonna Jun 13th 2007

Yep. The site is officially screwed up. Clicking the fly does absolutely nothing (it doesn't even fly off as usual).

Posted by Ayzil Jun 13th 2007

Dang...shouldn't have slept through History.

Posted by forever_charmed Jun 13th 2007

It wasn't that hard, but I had a hard time with the ministers... Fudge and Millicent were the only one familiar. I can't remeber everything that goes on jkrowling.com like Wizardof the Month and stuff. Plus, English is not my native language, and they don't quite have Seriban...

Posted by SnowMonkey Jun 13th 2007

Yeah, that part was Terrible!! How are we meant to know them ones?

Posted by Honey_Bee Jun 13th 2007

just a few general hints for the people who can't get into the test. (I managed fine, but I've had grumpy browsers in my time) first delete cookies- the meta data that your browser keeps about the sites you visit- like history and remembered passwords and stuff- in most browsers you get to it through Tools> options. if that doesn't work then restart your browser (close and open) then try restarting your computer. Hope these help... the test was fun... at least I had enough time this time, I could go through my answers and I felt better about them... Good luck everyone!

Posted by fashionfanatic08 Jun 13th 2007

I thought it was quite difficult... I hope I don't fail :(

Posted by lotte26 Jun 13th 2007

Oh i so got Troll :'( some of them are just insane man! lol after all that hard work, and no i dont think it has anything to do with it being the 13th coz when i got into it it just turned to the 14th. Its def worth trying WWW.jkrowling.co.uk then clicking on the enter site that has the british flag on it. i hope its okay it was harder than the 2nd one and i got E on that but failed the 1st lol.

Posted by LOVEWEASLEYS04 Jun 13th 2007

Okay it worked for me! You just have to go in through the UK version and not the "accessability version" thanks for the help guys. Have fun on the WOMBAT!

Posted by MrsWeasley Jun 13th 2007

Blankey asked: That symbol is driving me crazy! What is it?! I read that it was the symbol on the spine of bk 7!

Posted by lotte26 Jun 13th 2007

I know what is it? im too lazy to listen to podcasts or anything and i dont know any theories with it in!

Posted by voldermorts_assasin Jun 13th 2007

Same ive been at it for ages and nothings happening, can someone please help!

Posted by darkhairhermy Jun 13th 2007

If any of you can't get in, try www.jkrowling.com/en. DO NOT use the 'accessable' site because the RoR doesn't work there.

Posted by helen2110 Jun 13th 2007

how do you make a new acount?? heelp please

Posted by glorialxh Jun 13th 2007

to christianaeg: thanks a million! i tried d .org n it worked. dat stupid fly turned into a key at last! hurray! WOMBAT here i come!!!!!!!

Posted by Northern_light Jun 13th 2007

*How to get in* : OK, I see some people have problems to get to the test, so here are two tips that I don't think anyone has menioned: 1) If the "do not disturb"-sign is not on the door, and the fly doesn't fly away when you move your cursor to it, then press down the mouse button with the cursor on the fly. Don't mind that the cursor didn't change to show you that you can click on it, and don't just click it. Hold down the button. The fly should now be a key. Move it to the keyhole before you release the mouse button. Now you should get in. 2) Once you have finished the symbol (according to the instructions), you have to click it before you can open the test. ------------------ ------------------------- ---

Posted by magdalenarosrus Jun 13th 2007

It worked 4 me!I have never done W.O.M.B.A.T. before but it was FUN:)I liked the Dark Art questions! The first part was not easy ....I will see what I`ve done later:)I wodner when the results are going to be ready... Good luck guys !!!

Posted by Quiscalus Jun 13th 2007

I FAHAHAHAIILLLEEEDDD!!!!! My History of Magic SUCKS!!! I only know that I got one question right for sure. I'm okay with spells and stuff. Oh, and does anyone know the cure for the Draught of Living Death? I put 'No Cure' even though I know it's most likely wrong. I got an "Exeeds Expectations" on WOMBATS 2, but I'm going to get a 'Troll' on this one. Oh well. It was fun.

Posted by Shado Jun 13th 2007

That was great, I do hope it works this time... Never got to take one or two.

Posted by acromantula_93 Jun 13th 2007

OMG!! for those of you who tried everything you could but yet failed to change the fly into the key.. this is what you gotta do. 1. go to www.jkrowling.com 2. intead clicking " ENTER ACCESSIBLITY ENABLED VERSION", click on the UK site.. then click the fly and it TURNS INTO A KEY!!

Posted by Northern_light Jun 13th 2007

It was rather difficult, I think. I wonder whether I should have refrained from answering some of the questions, considering that some answers could make you lose points... Oh, nevermind. I'll hope for an A. The animagus-question seemed tricky... And the one with the ministers of magic and the events was difficult... I could only pair Fudge with the correct one, I guessed on the other ones. Not that those were the only questions I guessed on... Well, I passed the earlier ones, we'll see about this one.

Posted by annebeth Jun 13th 2007

For people who still haven't got the fly-thing worked out: when you go to the site, DON'T CLICK the 'enter enabled version' button, but click on the UK flag. Then it all works fine :)

Posted by fred_georgeLOVE Jun 13th 2007

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOO! i just took it =D think i failed but w/e! it wuz fun xxoo- fred_georgeLOVE 37!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! days!

Posted by vandy Jun 13th 2007

Posted by memphtgrphylvr Jun 13th 2007

ok i've gotten past the fly part, but when i got to the shapes, i can't get past it! i'm stacking the triangle on the line, with the circle on top of the triangle, then i'm clicking it. is this correct? i heard that when it glows, you did it correctly. someone PLEASE help! i really wanna take the WOMBAT!!

Posted by OldMrToad Jun 13th 2007

Mmmmmm. Tough test. Hope I passed. OMT

Posted by Caittie Jun 13th 2007

i can't get the shapes in order... when ever i try to put the circle on top of the triangle it doesn't stay HELP

Posted by HarryPotterFreakers Jun 13th 2007

I thought this test was a lot easier than the last one. I bet I did pretty well. I have alwys loved JK.com, it is such an interesting site, and you know that nthing is rumored!

Posted by Tricky12 Jun 13th 2007

THE SHAPE YOU MAKE IS THE SYMBOL ON THE SPINE OF THE UK BOOK!!! GAH I WANT TO KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS!!!

Posted by Isabelle Jun 13th 2007

Hi guys, if you're still having problems, here's what helped me. When you go to jkrowling.co.uk, don't enter the accesibility version, but the 'normal' version, so click on the flag. I hope this helps good luck !!!

Posted by psu2003 Jun 13th 2007

I wound up taking it anyway. I'll use my real ID went I get home. I was really hard. I'm not confident that I did well. But that always happens, so we'll see. Good luck everyone!

Posted by ctyizen Jun 13th 2007

maybe something in the test will help us figure out the symbol as it was part of how we got to take the test

Posted by memphtgrphylvr Jun 13th 2007

does anyone know what the symbol looks like??? that's the only thing keeping me from unleashing my mad wombat taking skills.

Posted by jen_102 Jun 13th 2007

With the symbol: You have to put the circle on top of the line, and then the triangle on top of that in that order. You have to get the position of the circle on the line right first - try putting it slightly further down from the middle. When you get the position right you should get blue sparkles. Then sit the triangle on top. Blue sparks again, and the symbol will flare and move to the side of the WOMBAT paper.

Posted by biggestHPfanevr101 Jun 13th 2007

EVERYONE WHO CAN"T GET IN LISTEN TO ME! I COULDN'T GET IN EITHER AND I WAS VERY UPSET. BUT IF YOU ENTER THE UK VERSION OF THE SITE I'M TELLING YOU IT WORKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by kuramagirl119 Jun 13th 2007

YES YES YESSSS I have to go to school now but as soon as I get home I will definetly take this test YESSSS

Posted by Edward88Italy Jun 13th 2007

I think I'm going to get 'Dreadful'... too difficult, some questions were totally unknown for me. Mind and reasoning weren't enough this time...

Posted by muttsfan34 Jun 13th 2007

The fly kept buzzing away from my mouse no matter what i did, i couldn't click on it. So people were saying to go to the uk version, i did this and then the "do not disturb" sign was up. But it wasn't before...then i went to www.JKrowling.net and it worked, the fly was still as a statue and everything went smoothly! So if anyone is experiencing those problems...i hope this helps.

Posted by Dobby4ever Jun 13th 2007

I've never "tried" the W.O.M.B.A.T. before.. going to in a second :D

Posted by patmoore19 Jun 13th 2007

In order to get it to work don't click the accessibility enabled site and make sure to click the one with the british flag. you are at the wrong one if you don't see the red and green containers in the room of requirement. I thought its interesting that the symbol you make with the shapes is the same one on the UK children's cover that was talked about on a mugglecast when the cover was released...it must be important

Posted by Janeykins Jun 13th 2007

woooo that was definately my fave one!!!!!

Posted by memphtgrphylvr Jun 13th 2007

OK MAKING ME VERRRRRY UPSET. THE SYMBOL STILL WON'T WORK. DOES IT GO FROM BOTTOM TO TOP: LINE CIRCLE TRIANGLE, OR LINE TRIANGLE CIRCLE. AND YOU KNOW HOW EVERYONE IS HAVING TROUBLE WITH THE FLY, DO THINK THAT THE SYMBOL FOR ME ISN'T WORKING FOR THE SAME REASON? BLAKJVL;AKE;MFAKVA HELP!

Posted by LiraelDaniels Jun 13th 2007

I don't remember my last student identification code and nowhere does it tell me to create a new one, so I have no clue what to do :( A little help please
