WOMBAT part 3 now up!
WOMBAT part 3 now up! JKRowling.com has been updated with the third part of the WOMBATs (Wizards' Ordinary Magic and Basic Aptitude Tests)! Click on the eraser on Jo's desk to get to the door whose "Do Not Disturb" sign has now been removed.

According to the site, "The Grade 3 WOMBAT is the final examination, and the most difficult. Not only is the subject matter much more advanced, but the examination is also more stringently marked. Certain answers will LOSE YOU MARKS, so choose carefully..."

We recommend you try to figure out how to open the door on your own, but for instructions, click here.
1. Click on the fly (on the window). It turns into a key.
2. Drag this to the keyhole.
3. Stack the shapes on top of each other: Triangle on line, circle on triangle.
4. Click this shape, then click the exam paper to begin.

If you're having problems opening the door, try clearing your cache/cookies (see your browser's Internet options), or access the site at jkrowling.net or jorowling.com.

I don't think anyone has this yet but, if you look outside the window, then you see the same village that we just saw on the new cover. So, I don't think it's just some random village that they happen to be flying over. I also think that since you can see it from JKR's office, she's giving us a hint that it is in england.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSS. i wonder if we will get anything out of them, maybe a few chapter titles. i still haven't had time to take them, because i had to go to work when i found out, and now i'm just on lunch, but as soon as i'm off i'll take it.

Well, I found that loads more fun than studying for the exam I have tomorrow! After this test, I'm hoping for JK to, some day in the future, give us all the answers to the three tests and in so doing give us loads more information about the wizarding world. It's not the same as having a new story but all that info from JK would let us explore further the world that she has created. She has so much stuff that she has never included in her stories that it would be sheer waste of genius if she never published it. I'm sure that at some point or other we'll get an encyclopaedia with all the back stories on the characters that we have never been told. Wishful thinking, perhaps, but it does make sense and it would be a proper closure to the world that JR has created whilst giving us an 'encore' as she makes her final bow on the phenomenon she's created.

TO THOSE WHO CANNOT OPEN THE DOOR: I had the same problem if all of the above advice does not help, look at the table below the window. If there aren't two bottles of potion, one red and the other green, then the door will not work for you. Go back to the first page of the site (the one where you choose if you want text only or the normal version). If you enter through the UK version, by clicking on the Union Jack flag, everything should work. good luck!

*CRACK* [apparates] Oh Happy Day!! I was wondering when the 3rd W.O.M.B.A.T. would be surfacing just yesterday and {poof!!} here they are. I have to say that some of the questions from the 1st part of the exam were a bit difficult, but hopefully I didn't choose any answers that will warrant loosing me points! Now it is 'sit-and-wait' time...what, about a weeks worth before we get the results? Deathly Dillie: all I see when I look out the window from the RoR or JK's secret door are clouds and I think maybe one hill...no streams, rivers, creeks or buildings. I don't see the similarity that you are trying to point out between that and the Deluxe cover of DH. Sorry...

ommmmmmggggggg! I just finished rereading the 6 books and Magical Beasts and where to find them (but not Quidditch through the ages). I did really well! I could get an 0utstanding again! OMG!!!!! I love the Wombats! First I got an E, then an O. AND THEY USED THE SYMBOL ON THE SIDE OF THE COVER!!!! OMG! CANT WAIT TIL BOOK 7 (or the next Mugglecast episode)

Posted by pic7171 Jun 13th 2007

UK Version Works Anyway, not sure if this was mentioned previously, but if you pour the red and green potions into the flower pot, the flower will grow and give you some additional content. Check it out.

Sweet! Difficult test, as usual. But enjoyable nonetheless!

Posted by harrypotter_rox Jun 13th 2007

how come the fly doesn't turn into a fly when i click it? :(

Posted by Miss_Freewind Jun 13th 2007

I know most of this stuff has been said a couple (hundred) times but if you click on the British version (or probably any other nation's version) you will be able to click on the fly. DO NOT CLICK ON THE ACCESSIBILITY ENABLED VERSION! Also you can not take the previous two WOMBATs. If you missed the the last two times the door opened, then sorry you missed your chance. I already know that all HP sites are going to be getting this question asked to them a couple thousand times so hopefully a couple people will read this and not be sending emails to the site because I am sure that are quite busy. On to other business, I have been thinking about WOMBATs for the past couple weeks. I thought that if she was going to do it before the book comes out that she would be doing it real soon. Or she could have waited until after the book and give us some type of info that I am sure that we will all want to know after we read it. I am really wodering what great, wonderful, fabulous gift she is going to give us after it is graded. Chapter titles, a paragraph from the book??? (Also if any of this was talked in MuggleCast, I have had problems with my computer and have not been able to download any of my HP podcast for over the past month. I know, I know. I am to die but I have been listening to the past ones.)

YOUR FLY IS NOT TURNING INTO A KEY BECAUSE U HAVE TO PRESS THE UK FLAG AT THE BOTTOM NOT THE ACCECIBILITY ENABLED VERSION (or watever it sais ) THAT HAPPNED TO ME BUT THEN I CLICKED ON THE U.K FLAG AND IT WORKED TRUST ME DO WAT I TELL U

Posted by erynelizabeth Jun 13th 2007

Too bad they don't let you get a username login like we have here...I keep losing those darn codes. I got and Exceeds Expectations on the second one, an Outstanding on the first one... lol don't think I did to hot this time.

Posted by danny1018 Jun 13th 2007

Posted by Nimbus1944 Jun 13th 2007

If you can't get the fly to transfigure, use jkrowling.net instead of jkrowling.com. Mischief managed! Good luck.

Posted by loony4luna Jun 13th 2007

Gahh. I only really knew answers on the Dark Magic part. The Magical History had me stumped forever, though. I probably spent ten minutes alone trying to process what the first question said. Haha. I was only able to click the fly on the UK vershun, too.

Posted by harrys_metamorphmagus Jun 13th 2007

OOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMMG GGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!

Posted by HarryEragon1fan Jun 13th 2007

Posted by Startori Jun 13th 2007

Ha! I took the test I'm sure I either got Troll or Dreadful. Better read the books again.

Posted by Milanka Jun 13th 2007

how do i get my results? when i sing in for the wombat its just a clock?

Posted by mweasley721 Jun 13th 2007

Someone asked this - the Vista gadget is on her desktop, conveniently ignored amongst all the WOMBAT craziness, haha. You can download it so you don't have to go to the site to see when your WOMBAT is graded! =D It's cool!

Posted by rondh7 Jun 13th 2007

Did anyone think that Godric's Hollow may be in England after all, it may not be a street after all but a villiage? This would make better sense to how in the Deluxe cover all three of the trio are flying back above a villiage (the same one in jkrowling.com in the window). Harry did say at the end of Half-Blood Prince he said that he has plans to go back to Godric's Hollow.

Posted by Milanka Jun 13th 2007

wheres the vista gadget?

Posted by wolffy52 Jun 13th 2007

how long does it take to get your results once you but in your code

Posted by christianaeg Jun 13th 2007

Milanka: we're all going to get our resluts about a week after the door closes!

Posted by Rubber_Ducky2 Jun 13th 2007

Hey I couldn't get the fly to turn into a key for a while either but I tried the UK one and it worked first try, so if it's not working for you try that. I'm off to take the test now :) Good luck!

Posted by LindaW Jun 13th 2007

jeez, that was hard!!!

Posted by christianaeg Jun 13th 2007

snapeward777: did you follow all the directions to get into the door? if you have already, try using the .net version of the site. if that doesn't work, clean out your cookies! WOMBAT= Wizarding Ordnary Magical Basic Aptitude Test!

Posted by googie77 Jun 13th 2007

i don't know which one of you, but on of you said that the access enabled version....*rolls eyes* or whatever it is called dosent work, so who ever that was, i love you, and want you to know that you are my hero, and you are amazing...and then next time i'm told to clean out the cookies, it would be great if you could tell me wtf cookies are...but thanks any way... it was great! ;]

Posted by Athlynne Jun 13th 2007

UGH! This is the first WOMBAT I've gotten to in time, and the STUPID FLY WILL NOT TURN INTO A KEY! I've tried everything!

Posted by LindsayS Jun 13th 2007

Eh, it wasn't insanely hard. But it wasn't easy either. My grandma called halfway through the Cures part so I was definitely A.D.Ding on that one. Maybe it's a program that you guys don't have, and that's why it's not working. The day I got my laptop, I downloaded all the stuff from my family computer onto it.

Posted by missyris16 Jun 13th 2007

for all of you that can't get the fly to work, try going to the UK VERSION, not the text or accessible version - that worked for me.

Posted by ashurlito Jun 13th 2007

can i ask you friendly people something and please answer my question pronto do u guys notice the villiage outside jo's window??? it looks exactly like the villiage on the deluxe cover eney idea's and GOOGO I LOVE YOU TOO LOLLLL

Posted by Deathly_Dillie Jun 13th 2007

I think that it's godrics Hollow

Posted by potterfreak0515 Jun 13th 2007

Ha! I got it to open without viewing the instructions! I was thinking to myself yesterday that the door has got to be opening soon since we got chapter titles and a book quote before HBP came out; and I made a promise to myself that I would try and open it without reading the instructions. And I did! Although I do feel kind of cheated because it wasn't nearly as hard as usual. Oh well! I've already taken the test four times.

Posted by christianaeg Jun 13th 2007

Athlynne: try the .net version... try cleaning out your cookies.... try going to jkrowling.co.uk

Posted by 1oftheTrio Jun 13th 2007

Excuse me, but WHAT DOES THIS VISTA THING LOOK LIKE??? ANYONE??? Thanks a bunch

Posted by Serinity Jun 13th 2007

wow, the spine symbol! I'm guessing that that IS going to be something really important then.

Posted by Scruffy Jun 13th 2007

Don't feel like reading all of the comments, so sorry if this has been said. If the "do not disturb" sign is still up, try pressing ctrl+F5, it should clear your cache, and hopefully you'll be able to take the test

Posted by KatyLiz415 Jun 13th 2007

on aol the do not disturb sign is up but on internet explorer it's not but the fly's not changing!!! (pulls out hair in anguish) PLEASE HELP!!!

Posted by Eva Jun 13th 2007

K well I just got it to work in firefox.... when you enter the site make sure to click on the eraser first then click on the fly in there... I had to reload jkr.com twice before the fly would change for me...

Posted by Scruffy Jun 13th 2007

Incidentally, what did you guys get for the devil's snare question? Both fire and sunlight seem to be valid, as devil's snare is sensitive to light. In PS/SS Hermione defeats it by casting fire... any thoughts?

Posted by mweasley721 Jun 13th 2007

The vista gadget is right in the middle of her desktop, on the first page of her website. it's kind of a small, brown rectangle. Maybe it only shows up if you have Vista? I'm not sure. I have Vista.

Posted by Milanka Jun 13th 2007

theres no box, i dont have vista is there anyother way to see your results?

Posted by freakishBBQ Jun 13th 2007

I can't get the symbol to work!!!!

Posted by mweasley721 Jun 13th 2007

You don't need vista to see your results - you can see them on jkr's site when they're done being graded. The vista gadget thing is just a thing I guess only vista users can download, with the WOMBAT clock on OUR desktops, so we can see the clock when it changes without being on the website.

Posted by voldy1788 Jun 13th 2007

I just took it!!!! My 1st time taking the WOMBAT... i might have failed, but whatever. I normally have problems w/ the door (couldn't get it open for the title), but it worked fine this time... apparently it does work on macs.

Posted by fairyqueen Jun 13th 2007

When do you get to see your results?~!?!?
