WOMBAT part 3 now up!
WOMBAT part 3 now up! JKRowling.com has been updated with the third part of the WOMBATs (Wizards' Ordinary Magic and Basic Aptitude Tests)! Click on the eraser on Jo's desk to get to the door whose "Do Not Disturb" sign has now been removed.

According to the site, "The Grade 3 WOMBAT is the final examination, and the most difficult. Not only is the subject matter much more advanced, but the examination is also more stringently marked. Certain answers will LOSE YOU MARKS, so choose carefully..."

We recommend you try to figure out how to open the door on your own, but for instructions, click here.
1. Click on the fly (on the window). It turns into a key.
2. Drag this to the keyhole.
3. Stack the shapes on top of each other: Triangle on line, circle on triangle.
4. Click this shape, then click the exam paper to begin.

If you're having problems opening the door, try clearing your cache/cookies (see your browser's Internet options), or access the site at jkrowling.net or jorowling.com.

fairyqueen: you can see them about a week after the door closes!

Posted by Scruffy Jun 13th 2007

The time is not set in stone. The first one took a couple of weeks, if I remember correctly, and the results for the second one came in under a week.

Posted by _magik_ Jun 13th 2007

Anyone who hasn't been able to get in yet, delete your cookies (look under your toolbar and go to delete history and click on delete cookies, if you have internet explorer) THEN TRY JOROWLING.COM. This is the thing that worked for me, when nothing else did. Don't use the accesibility enabled version, just click on your language!!! Hope that works for you guys!!!!

Posted by Scruffy Jun 13th 2007

CTLR+F5, works just as well... it does the same thing, but you save a few seconds, and 4 whole mouse clicks! *Falls down in amazement*

Posted by emmyv05 Jun 13th 2007

Yay. I took it. Seemed pretty much like common sense for most of it, and the rest you could figure out from the books. Well, we'll see what happens!

Posted by rondh7 Jun 13th 2007

does anyone think that the results and the prize(s) will be posted on the 21st?? Too much of a coincidence for Jo to pass that up with the book only being a month away not to give us a little hint doesn't it??

Posted by _mugglecast_ Jun 13th 2007

That was fun. I had to make educated guesses on a lot of the questions, but it made me think. Good thing I'm re-reading the books right now. XD

Posted by HermioneForever Jun 13th 2007

I did the test without using the books or the net, just for fun! At some questions, I wanted to strangle JK Rowling (even though she is my idol). IT HAS BEEN HALF AN HOUR SINCE I FINISHED MY TEST AND IT STILL IS IN BETWEEN "RESULTS DELIVERED" AND "PAPERBACK MARKING"...HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU?!

Posted by christianaeg Jun 13th 2007

HermioneForever: You won't see your results till about a week or two after the door closes...

Posted by HPgeek4LIFE Jun 13th 2007

thats so AWESOME!!!!!!!! i got the fly to open the door and started taking the test, but then i had to leave. yuck.

Posted by SirRobin Jun 13th 2007

Very cool, but I'm not taking it today. I just got finished with my real finals and my brain is tired. Good luck, everyone.

Posted by alek16 Jun 13th 2007

how long does it take for this stuff to be graded

Posted by christianaeg Jun 13th 2007

alek16: about a week after the door closes!

Posted by hpgirl_91 Jun 13th 2007

oh my gosh this is AMAZING! I LOVE JKR! This WOMBAT was SO hard though! I thought the last part wasn't that bad but they first section! wow! *exciting*

Posted by CR_the_Mighty Jun 13th 2007

Yays, I got it to work! That crappy fly wasn't working for me either, but then I went back to the main page and clicked on the UK version, and it worked fine! Who else thinks they rocked the Dark Arts section? Uh-huh. *smug*

Posted by i_heart_dobby2683 Jun 13th 2007

OMG!! it took me forever to get in!!! thank u soooo much 4 all the great hints. i had to get on the uk site 4 it to work. i also thought that u didnt stack the shapes, but but out them next to eachother in that order. i took it and i think i got a T lol but we'll c soon i guess! i'm sooo excited this is my first wombat, 2 bad its the last :(

Posted by kkatid Jun 13th 2007

that was much, much harder than the last two! The first part was impossible, but the last part was fine. I wish we could get the answers to these after they are graded, or after DH comes out, because some of those questions were fascinating.

Posted by hedwig91 Jun 13th 2007

YAY!!!! im so excited! its my first WOMBAT and i can't wait!!!!! :)

Posted by potterluva9393 Jun 13th 2007

OMG! They had the symbol in there. That symbol!

Posted by eyeheartlupin Jun 13th 2007

That was hard in the beginning >.< But the end was easy. I guess it's better to end on an easy note.. it makes me feel smarter.. heh. :T

Posted by mariatc Jun 13th 2007

christianaeg!!!!! i remember you from the last wombat! you and I were part of the "wombat help team" or something like that, with tonksroxmysocks (something like that lol) and other people lol

Posted by christianaeg Jun 13th 2007

mariatc: Lol yup!! me and LadyM and Ginny and Hannah and a few others... Just goes to show that i'm way too into this whole thing! :)

Posted by mariatc Jun 13th 2007

lol! yeah me too...im way too into HP...ive kept in touch with tonks and ginny but i never got LadyM or Hannahs mails or usernames in the CoS boards. well, ive just done the test...ive just got home. its not too hard I think...some questions at the start were tricky

Posted by weaselbeelover Jun 13th 2007

If you find that you can't click on the fly, I suggest going to the UK version of the site (on the front page of www.jkrowling.com). That's what I had to do.

Posted by christianaeg Jun 13th 2007

mariatc: OOooo what's ginny's email?? I've tried to keep in touch with her but she hasn't replied to me in months! anyhoo i shouldn't be posting this much so i'm gonna stop talking till someone needs help lol!

Posted by mariatc Jun 13th 2007

yeah ok ill shut up too until someone needs help...we cant talk that much in the boards. do you have an account in the CoS boards? so we can talk there :) lol im doing the test again

Posted by Hermy_Own6 Jun 13th 2007

I took the test, man it was hard, but fun, and all I can say is: FINALLY! after all that waiting, now just give us Deathly Hallows already!

Posted by hada24 Jun 13th 2007

Has anyone noticed the potions on the table? When you put the bottler over the plant, they turn over and a couple of drops start to fall.... has anyone managed to to something with that?

Posted by christianaeg Jun 13th 2007

hada24: you can bring the plant back to life with the right combo of red and green potion... the right order's on the extra stuff section of JK's site... and mariatc i'm christianaeg there too, but i email/send owls mostly..

Posted by mariatc Jun 13th 2007

hada24 2: yes, there are lots of things you can do in jk's site to earn access to special goodies like scans of drawings made by jo, scans of past manuscripts...in mugglenet there is a guide of the things you can do, with all the instructions :)

Posted by Captain_Sparrow Jun 13th 2007

how do you check your score?! and how long does it take to get marked?

Posted by RavenclawTower Jun 13th 2007

Oh man. I am kinda upset... I haven't done a wombat ever before, and yesterday my computer crashed :( so tonight i try to go get on (on my mom's comp) and the fly won't work!!!!?!?! and i am uber upset

Posted by jillianty Jun 13th 2007

to all those that cannot get in, you can try any site but make sure you are using the UK version and not the US one! i sat for almost 15 min trying to figure this out so i hope it helps! also, the test was hard! i definitely got bad marks on history but i think i did good on the dark arts :/

Posted by christianaeg Jun 13th 2007

Captain_Sparrow: by the little WOMBAT card on the main page, it'll take about a week after the door closes!

Posted by mariatc Jun 13th 2007

Captain_Sparrow: to check your score, go to Jo's desk, and there is a envelope (red and white) with the word Wombat. Click on it, adn ti will take you to a page wehre they ask your student code. Put it, and it will take you to a page where you can see your results when the test has been marked, and also you can check the state of the marking (in process, etc). it takes around a week after the door closes to get the results back

Posted by christianaeg Jun 13th 2007

RavenclawTower: try the .net version of the site! or try cleaning out your cookies...

Posted by lifeacordin2lulu Jun 13th 2007

im on jkrowling.com and i'm in the eraser room but my fly won't change and i already deleted my cookies! and jkrowling.net didn't work for me! what should i do?! i really wanna try the WOMBAT!

Posted by Joshua21890 Jun 13th 2007

I got the key and did the symbol thing, but when i click on the exam to do it, it goes to the loading bit but then it just stops and doesn't do anything.

Posted by jillianty Jun 13th 2007

hmmm, i went to check my grade and the clock says "results delivered", "results in post", and "paper being marked" but the hand seems to be putting at the 12, which is none of these.

Posted by christianaeg Jun 13th 2007

lifeacordin2lulu: Are you in the British version of the site? you could try the .org version too..... did that help?

Posted by christianaeg Jun 13th 2007

Joshua21890: it might be because so many people are trying to to the WOMBATS... try doing it again in a bit, or cleaning out your cookies and the .net version of the site! jillianty- The clock will change and start to point to various places after the door closes!

Posted by LaurenB Jun 13th 2007

Ouch, that was hard. I probably got a T.

Posted by jillianty Jun 13th 2007

sorry for posting again but whats with the potions on the table? if you lift either of them up they tip over the plant and droplets come out. i tried a couple drops of each potion but nothing happened. did anyone find anything?

Posted by lifeacordin2lulu Jun 13th 2007

oh my god! it worked thank you so much christianaeg!!!

Posted by lifeacordin2lulu Jun 13th 2007

oh my god! it worked thank you so much christianaeg!!!

Posted by RavenclawTower Jun 13th 2007

nvm. it worked!! i failed...but it worked. i had to go to the british flag version. but when i did, it worked

Posted by mariatc Jun 13th 2007

jillianty: read one of my and christianaeg's recent posts about the potions in the table. Joshua21890 : after you do the symbol thing...have you clicked the symbol again until it moves upwards to the right? because it is only after doing so that you should click on the test

Posted by christianaeg Jun 13th 2007

jillianty- go to the raido on the extras section... the raido will tell you the order/combo of the potions and the plant will look a little more lively when you pour the potions on it! welcome guys :) i like helping other Mugglenetters in a time of need!

Posted by cellopower Jun 13th 2007

god i have no idea what they're talking about on that test. i just pressed random answers xD
