WOMBAT part 3 now up!
WOMBAT part 3 now up! JKRowling.com has been updated with the third part of the WOMBATs (Wizards' Ordinary Magic and Basic Aptitude Tests)! Click on the eraser on Jo's desk to get to the door whose "Do Not Disturb" sign has now been removed.

According to the site, "The Grade 3 WOMBAT is the final examination, and the most difficult. Not only is the subject matter much more advanced, but the examination is also more stringently marked. Certain answers will LOSE YOU MARKS, so choose carefully..."

We recommend you try to figure out how to open the door on your own, but for instructions, click here.
1. Click on the fly (on the window). It turns into a key.
2. Drag this to the keyhole.
3. Stack the shapes on top of each other: Triangle on line, circle on triangle.
4. Click this shape, then click the exam paper to begin.

If you're having problems opening the door, try clearing your cache/cookies (see your browser's Internet options), or access the site at jkrowling.net or jorowling.com.

haha...this is fun!!

Posted by sheadsav Jun 13th 2007

Oooooh that was fun! But a little hard, I guessed heaps of the questions! Anyone know when we'll get results? I missed the first 2 WOMBATS :-(

Posted by HagridGetsItCrunked Jun 13th 2007

I thought of something while i listened to mugglecast this week. durring their big antipodean opaleye debate they kept saying why would JKR send them to australia , and i got to thinking azkaban. now if you look at british prison systems of old they were over crowded and becoming more so everyday. so what did the british do with thousands of unruley prisoners , they packed um up and sent them to australian penal colonies. so that set me to thinking what if the wizarding world was the same way before the deal with the dementors and lets say the veil is a portal to some chunk of the outback with massive land and anti apperating spells and memory charms the whole works. we dont know when the death chamber went out of use , lets say one of voldy's supporters went threw or got far enough into the ministry to lets say throw a horcrux through the veil. that is my far out idea as to why the trio is riding an opaleye. very far out but if you like it let me know what you think.

Posted by Clean0002 Jun 13th 2007

Yea I pretty much guessed on every one with the exception of a few. How the heck were we suppose to know the answers to some of those questions?

That sorting hat question was intressting, I wonder if it's true (doubt it) there was alot of 'rumor' like things i found very intresting. But that one was hard! specially there is NO way to know this stuff!

Posted by marleneistotallyawesome Jun 14th 2007

this actually made my day. I found it alittle hard. some questions easy. i didn't do one and two. :(

Posted by kiri12 Jun 14th 2007

.net works for me!!!!!!!! Still waiting for the results, though...*sigh* Any idea how soon they'll come? I didn't take W.O.M.B.A.T. #1 or #2 But I'm so excited no to miss out for once!

Posted by MollyWiltersen Jun 14th 2007

To Kiri: the door is usually open for a few days and then it may take another few days or a week for the results to come. To Crayzee: From Jo's site there is a link to 'The Harry Potter Lexicon', you can learn lots about the site there f.ex. what to do with the bottles.

Posted by Arry Jun 14th 2007

I did the test a few hours ago. I think that Jo WAS giving us Bk 7 hints. I Print Screened every question, then lost it as my computer automatically restarted (CURSE YOU COMPUTER!!!). I've known since the second I first saw the symbol that it was important and felt like yelling at the MuggleCasters for thinking it was just a publication logo.

Posted by Hiranneth Jun 14th 2007

I didn't find this 3rd grade very easy, because I'm hungarian and despite that I read all books in english too, this official language made the test difficult for me. I took the test twice with different choices to make sure that I pass it at least with acceptable. Good luck to everyone, who hasn't done it yet! (and sorry for my english:)

Posted by dom Jun 14th 2007

Posted by jcrover Jun 14th 2007

i have now successfully made the fly turn into a key put the pieces of the puzzle to gether but when i click on the wombat exam paper it just makes the window go darker and nothing more happens, it does not seem to matter if i use a mac or a pc both do the same thing

Posted by MollyWiltersen Jun 14th 2007

Middar: check the book cover for the British children's version to see what the symbol should look like, that might help. Good luck.

Posted by christianaeg Jun 14th 2007

Middar- try the .net version of the site... or the .org

Posted by cathyrh Jun 14th 2007

the fly wont turn into a key! i need to do this before it close. i have done the 1 and 2, and i wanna do the last! please heelp.... :(

Posted by jcrover Jun 14th 2007

i see that a lot of people are having trouble getting the fly to turn into a key. it has taken me 3 hours but i have worked out where i was going wrong and thought i would pass the info on to you. 1st you need to open the website through the buttons with the flag, you will know you have done it right if there is a pot plant and two bottles when you click the eraser. 2nd try clicking on the left wing of the fly i found it works best. 3rd i have now made it work on Firefox, safari and internet explorer so yes it shoud work on all hope this helped

Posted by christianaeg Jun 14th 2007

Starbuck- try the .net or .org versions of the site. dom- you don't need one to take the WOMBATs.... they're just so you can see your resluts later

Posted by cathyrh Jun 14th 2007

THANK YOU jcrover!!!!!!!! :D

Posted by cathyrh Jun 14th 2007

hey, i won't get the shapes the work...??? i put them on top of each other but nothing happens when i click them and the paper...???

Posted by cathyrh Jun 14th 2007

i got it now! :P

Posted by Nimbus1944 Jun 14th 2007

If you can't get the fly to transfigure, use jkrowling.net instead. BEFORE going to the door page -- If you don't remember your WOMBAT ID, click on the ID card at the top of her desktop page. Highlight and copy it, and paste it when she asks for it at the end of the test; it's easier than typing it! And -- store it someplace for future reference (like getting your score).

Posted by sexyman Jun 14th 2007

when i saw the first five questions i was like what the F U C K it was very difficult

Posted by yviem Jun 14th 2007

The exam was really tough this time. I've done all 3 now with the same ID i can't wait for d results. The symbol makes me think of a pyramid? I wonder if Egypt is going to feature.

Posted by athosmr Jun 14th 2007

No matter what I tried, I couldn't get the fly to change into a key...that was at all 3 of her listed sites....and I tried changing my browser settings AND clearning out the buffer.

Posted by athosmr Jun 14th 2007
