JKR's open book tour of the US
JKR's open book tour of the US JK Rowling announced plans today to embark on an "Open Book Tour" of the United States. From her news section:

"In October I will be touring the USA for the first time since 2000. The Tour will include four events, three to be held for schoolchildren in Los Angeles, New Orleans and New York City and one event in New York City for any U.S. Harry Potter fan who wins a ticket through a sweepstakes to be held by Scholastic, my US publishers. At each event, I will read from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, the seventh and final book in the Harry Potter series, answer questions about the entire series, and sign copies of the latest book."

Visit Scholastic's Potter section beginning July 30th for information on how to enter this sweepstakes and complete rules.

hobbits... Um besides the soul being in an object (the one ring and horcruxes) I really don't see any similarities. I guess you could compare Gandalf to Dumbledore but they are not the same character, not at all. Gandalf is an ass sometimes and Dumbledore never is. No one is talking crap about LOTR, I love the movies, the books are not as good in my opinion, I didn't enjoy them but the movies are great and that makes me a fan. So just go back in your hole and smoke some old toby and settle down.

Ok, I really don't get people from the UK are complaining. 1,700 kids get to see her in Britain the first signing and only 7 people from the US get to go... it levels out. But Kitty has a good point... in Maine where I live nothing big usually never happens, while in NYhuge events happen every day.

Ah!!! What exactly classifies as schoolchildren?? High schoolers included? I want to gooo!!! maybe I can get down to LA somehow and pretenfdto e twelve...there have to be SOME benifits to being short. To those of you who wish Jo wouldn't always chose the USA: I have to say I think my country is an overpowering superpower, but I have a few pints. One, we all speak english, JO speaks english. Two, the US has a bigger population, which means more fans, than a lot of other english speaking countries.

i live in Illinois and NYC is like half way across the country! I wish that my state would get noticed sometime, i mean chicago is big and its only 3 hours away! why cant she go there and why cant it just be public? why do you have to win a sweepstakes thing? i mean my chances of winning are almost nill. oh and will the people from other countrys stop being so rude? i mean i can understand Canada, but still just be patient you will get your chance!

Going far off topic as always , I may have figured out what the symbol on the UK kids edition spine is. Ive noticed that JKR has used many items from real magical history , the stone , the hand of glory , so on and so forth. I believe the symbol is a magical sigil turned into a tool. I think it may be a triangle of art , a sigil that was used to locate and invoke spirits the spirits energy being bound to the space outside the circle but within the triangle. now from what i can assume the line has been added as some kind of pointer , so i am thinking it to be a horcrux detector as some have said. this also makes me think that the item itself could be used against voldy , maybe summon the spirits of those he has killed and ordered killed , or even bind the pieces of his soul back together. just another one of my random findings , and rants thrown together let me know what you think.

Quotes
Messing up your hair because you think it looks cool to look like you've just got off your broomstick, showing off with that stupid Snitch, walking down corridors and hexing anyone who annoys you just because you can — I'm surprised your broomstick can get off the ground with that fat head on it. You make me SICK.
