Potter Rock Cast
Basic Info:
Interview with Potter Rock Cast:
1. Why do you have a wizard rock podcast?
Well, how can't I? Really? 1) I absolutely love the Harry Potter series. 2) I adore Wizard Rock, it stands for everything I believe. 3) I want to spread it around this part of the planet because I got tired of watching concerts on YouTube... I want to go personally.
2. What do you personally get out of hosting a wizard rock podcast?
I have fun listening to how I speak to imaginary people, something I normally do when I shower... thinking aloud. But really, what I want to do is to get people to express themselves.
3. How long have you hosted the podcast?
I started last year around July (after Deathly Hallows) As of now, the podcast is on hiatus due to work schedule issues, but as soon as I have free time, I'll keep recording; I have around 10 shows planned and schemed.
4. Does your podcast have a particular style/slant and if so what influences that?
Well, It's similar to many radio shows here in Peru, where you offer info about the singer and song... but I got the idea from Ashley Farrar, from
Podcast of Awesome. I asked her how to do a podcast and she was great.
People in the HP fandom are truly supportive.
5. Do you plan to continue having episodes even though the Harry Potter series has been completed, and why?
Why should that stop me? As long as I have ideas for shows and time to record, I'll keep going.
6. What is your favorite part of being on a wizard rock podcast?
I get to listen to such witty lyrics I never get bored! And the Wizard
Rockers are really awesome!
7. What is your least favorite part of being on a wizard rock podcast?
I never have time to record/edit/upload the shows...
8. What advice do you have for potential future wizard rock podcast hosts?
Make sure you schedule your recordings and get an account in iTunes... I can't get one because I live in Peru…
9. How do you explain wizard rock/your podcast to people who are new to the genre or to people who (heaven forbid) have never read Harry Potter?
After they stop looking at me like I just (finally) cracked my skull, you mean? I say it is music inspired by Harry Potter, in which it doesn’t really matter how good you are with the instruments, but what you have to say. (I love activist wizard rock.)
10. Is your podcast completely DIY, and do you think that being completely DIY is an integral part of being a wizard rock podcast?
Yes, it is completely do it yourself... I select the songs, record, and edit them. I might, probably, in the future, include a co-host... but for now it's just me. And well... Is it important? I think yes, it is... Wizard Rock started with the Switchblade Kittens and Harry and The Potters, who played garage music... and started as a kind of do-it-yourself band, recording in their bedroom... And MuggleNet was born as a DIY website run by a 12-year-old kid. So I think it is kind of the spirit of the HP fandom, DIY... of course, if in the future you can improve and get better, that's fine... but we all start with DIY spirit... Jo had only one copy of her manuscript because she couldn't afford the copies before she got published, and she had typed those in an old typewriter... didn't she?
11. Is there any specific message you would like to share with your fans?
Keep each other safe, keep faith, keep wrocking, read books, eat chocolate and fight evil!
