Interview with Azkaband:

1. Why do you play wizard rock?

Because it's fun and fabulous - we pretty much kick wizard butt. It all started on one summer day when we were castin' spells, and not letting the ministry get us down. Never let the ministry get you down. It sucks. Also, we need to get the message of WIZARD RIOT out to the community. Us wizards, we need to have more riots.

2. What do you personally get out of being in a wizard rock band?

Well, I'm not going to lie - people just seem generally physically attracted to wizards. We like that. We rock.

3. What influences your music/your style?

Ever hear of the band Blatz? Well - Blatz is amazing. They're a muggle band but they're really rad. Blatz and spells. Spells and Blatz. And forty's. Of old english. And gin and tonics and pabst. That could have been one sentence.

4. How long have you been playing?

Almost a year now.

5. Do you plan to continue having shows and writing songs even though the Harry Potter series has been completed, and why?

Harry Potter SERIES?? Psh - it's not even about Harry Potter - he's just some guy, you know? We're all about being wizards. Right now we're working on a really epic song about beating up Draco Malfoy. The Wizard Punk is the real focus here.

6. What is your favorite part of being in a wizard rock band?

Probably the stardom and the free pabst.

7. What is your least favorite part of being in a wizard rock band?

The weird looks. But it's okay, we just blind them with magic.

8. What advice do you have for potential future wizard rockers?

8. Never let the ministry get you down. And stop playing emo - why are all wizard rock bands emo? Never stop rockin' it over Hogwarts either. And just... Well, if the ministry is getting you down, you're feeling emo or for some reason are having some issues with rockin' it at Hogwarts - call on Azkaband the cruciatus castin' wizard punks to fix it.

9. How do you explain wizard rock to people who are new to the genre or to people who (heaven forbid) have never read Harry Potter?

It's like having fifty wizards poke you in the eye at the same time. It's like you're sitting at home, watching TV when you suddenly realize that life sucks and you haven't read a book since elementary school. And then you're like "oh man, what is this wooden stick doing here?" And then you start doing spells and making magic. And then all the sudden you're the most popular kid on the block. It's like that.

10. Is your band completely DIY, and do you think that being completely DIY is an integral part of being a wizard rock band?

Who else is going to do it if you don't? Of course we're DIY. In fact - corporate wizard rock should eat its own head (just picture that in your head for a moment). We have a drummer and a guitarist. That's it. The drum set was bought from some guy on the street for fifty bucks and well, that's pretty DIY. The set says "oi" on it for some reason unknown to man. DIY - I think so.

11. Have you ever been approached by a corporate record-label asking to sponsor your band? If so, what was your reaction and if not, what would your reaction be in such a situation?

Do you really think we could make it big? That would be cool. The ladies love it.

12. Has your band ever had any copyright-infringement issues, and if so how have you dealt with them?

No, I don't think so.

13. Is there any specific message you would like to share with your fans?

BOMB THE MINISTRY! Listen, sometimes you just gotta do what you
think is right. Don't let the ministry get you down - we really can't stress that enough. That's how the ministry is trying to control the masses. We need the FREE the wizard population and get the message out there. We formed in Azkaban, and so, of course, formed Azkaband because there was nothing else to do. Start a riot... A WIZARD RIOT!
