Well! I think this book has come as a shock to all of us! I can't believe the ending! But, of course, we all know JK has a flair for the unexpected...

Anyway, I thought the book started out interestingly, with the Muggle Prime Minister and the introduction of Scrimgeour. The first few chapters were all basically along the same line, and it was only after Harry arrives at Hogwarts with a bloody nose do things start to move quickly. The middle part of the book was light and happy, with lots of romance and the introduction of the Half-Blood Prince. I was a bit surprised to find Harry crushing on Ginny, but glad when they got together. When I was reading the middle bit, I was a little worried, because it seemed I had about 7 chapters to go, and nothing big had happened yet! But then we started getting deep into the life of Voldemort through the Pensieve, and learning about the Horcruxes, and the 'big' thing started to become clear.

If we fast forward a little bit, to when Harry is immobilized and Dumbledore and Malfoy are talking, I’m sure that everyone else thought the same thing I did – that Dumbledore was going to get out of this somehow. Even when Snape came and fulfilled his Unbreakable Vow, I still thought that somehow Dumbledore couldn't be dead, and that he would wake soon. But he didn't. Oh, and who would've guessed that SNAPE was the Half-Blood Prince? Not me! I was a bit surprised at Harry, as he seemed to be less upset about Dumbledore’s death than Sirius’s! But he handled it with maturity. I was also very sad to hear that we will see no more of Hogwarts.

All in all, it was an extremely good book; well written, with lots of surprises that will not please everyone... and it was sad, too. Now all we have to do is wait another few years to read the final and most important book in the series!
