Positive/Negative: Positive

She has done it again, despite the fact that Half-Blood Prince is considerably shorter than Order of the Phoenix, she has produced high caliber material. Where should I start exactly on the review, on what aspect?

I started reading The Half-Blood Prince at almost 1:30 am following my purchase and finished it at 3:00 am Sunday morning with about five hours of sleep in between, so I hope that my mind was not addled while I was in the reading process.

Overall the book was beyond imaginable. We still had some of the comic relief by having the Weasley twins' role sort of passed towards Dumbledore’s character, because he was the only one that I really saw that gave me the chuckles, which isn’t to say that Fred and George didn’t.

I was slightly disappointed in the fact that Hermione and Ron spent about eighty percent of the time arguing or not talking at an all time high. I realize this is a lot of teen angst and what not, but I felt that we did not need to see an almost potential break up of the trio. But from what I saw, Harry has wised up about how the world, love, and girls work. Even when Ron was too stupid to recognize Hermione’s attempts at trying to go out with him, Harry realized what was going on. He started thereafter worrying about the awkwardness that would ensue if Ron and Hermione got together and reacted in a totally 16-year-old manner.

I have to say that a few parts slightly confused me. For instance, when Dumbledore said Dudley was the one poorly treated. There were also a few other places, mainly from misreading. Like the Inferi as another example, I felt they should have been explained when they were mentioned. Most things, when introduced into a series should be explained almost right off the bat, with the exception of certain things, like the Horcruxes.

My last real point has to be the most important. It would have to be Dumbledore’s death. Everyone anticipated Dumbledore’s death, it was just a shock to actually see it on paper. The signs were obvious with Sirius, and unless I missed them, I saw no signs of Dumbledore dying. I will greatly miss Dumbledore because he was one of my favorite characters. I’m also fairly mad that he was the one to die, and I look forward to seeing Harry’s revenge on Snape.

When comparing Half-Blood Prince to Order of the Phoenix, I’d really have to give it an eight out of ten, only because the book was greatly anticipated and the overall plot was genius. The book however loses points due to the fact that Dumbledore dies and Lupin goes out with Tonks.

It looks as if we have two more long years before we get to see the fate of Voldemort, Harry, Ron, Hermione, Snape, and the rest of the people involved in this huge mess. So cheers to all, keep writing fanfics and I will keep reading them. Lastly, in the words of Dumbledore: Nitwit! Blubber! Oddment! Tweak!
