From the Desk of Harry Potter, Head Auror
Ministry of Magic
Thank you for the compliment, that’s very kind. All these years and it still surprises me to know that people are reading of my exploits.
As to the cloak, I actually received it in my first year at Hogwarts, during my Christmas break, and a wonderful gift it was, too (although I had no idea of its value or origin at the time). As far as I am aware, and so choose to believe, this cloak is the very one which belonged to Ignotus Peverell (although I do not believe the cloak was bestowed upon him by Death, as Beedle the Bard would have us believe. I can only suspect the Peverell siblings possessed great magical skills of which we know not).
The cloak is still with me. Having received the cloak as a gift from my father, I fully intend to one day give this cloak to my oldest son, James, although I don’t believe I will be doing so anytime soon; that boy is a handful, and if there is one thing I’ve learned about the Hallows, it’s that they should never be in the hands of those who would abuse their power. Even if abusing said power is something as harmless as nicking extra chocolate frogs from the kitchen.
All is well,
