Some people like to say that Harry Potter is exactly like a lot of other books. Well, is it? In addition to being purportedly inspired by authors like Jane Austen, JK Rowling may have also pulled from the works of authors like J.R.R Tolkien, C.S. Lewis and Shakespeare.

Below we have essays in which fans have put on a certain lens, a lens through which they attempt to view Harry Potter in a new light and see where it intersects in places with another text. These quibbles inspire some pretty great thoughts, irrespective of whether or not Jo Rowling has herself read the compared text.

If you would like to submit a quibble covering your own cross text analysis, peruse the rules for submission right here. Have an idea for an essay topic in mind but haven't yet formulated it into quibble form? No prob - discuss your thoughts with the Editorials community at large on the bottom of this page.
