Potter in a Social Context Certain aspects of the plot in the Harry Potter series often seem to parallel real word problems. For instance, the widespread attacks on Muggles and Muggle-borns that take place in Deathly Hallows are not unlike the treatment of Jews in Europe during the Holocaust. To what extent does Jo use Harry Potter as social commentary, addressing such issues as discrimination, religion, the media, and government?
