About Maline: My name is Maline and I'm 23 years old (born 22 October, 1982). I'm from Sweden, used to live in France and would like, at some point, to live in a Spanish-speaking country (Spanish is my favourite language at the moment). I live in Gothenburg, on the west coast of Sweden, where I teach French, sing in a choir and dance Lindy-Hop at night and work on my English degree during the day (French/Literature and Linguistics degree is now finished, yey!). I love Harry Potter (and a lot of other books) and have been writing for MuggleNet since September 2003.

Some fun facts and answers to questions I've got over the first two years of writing here.

  1. "Maline" is pronounced (in English) ma-LEEN. Rhymes with "Colleen", "spleen" and "machine". It means "wicked" in French and "rasberry" (with spelling modifications) in most of the Slavic languages (or so I have been told). In Swedish, it's just a very popular name, derived from Magdalene)
  2. I'm bilingual Swedish-English, speak fluent French and get by in Spanish as long as I don't have to deal with the past tense :-) I also know how to say "You're not allowed to swim in the lake" and "Let's go guys" in Italian (a souvenir from my job as Activity Coordinator in England).
  3. I'd also like to really learn to speak the following: Spanish, Italian, German, Portugese, Russian and perhaps an Asian language. I'd like to be able to read Ancient Greek, Latin and Hebrew.
  4. I used to be a dance teacher. Before the croissants found me...
  5. I think grammar is actually FUN.
  6. I think guys who know a lot about computers are really sexy. Am currently dating a computer and electronics engineer. :-)
  7. I have a homepage, which is slowly being constructed (VERY slowly, as in progress practically going backwards). You're very welcome to visit.

If you'd like to contact Maline, you may do so in the forums.
